@Isabella B the majority of American dispatchers are a joke. really. I wonder how long their training takes because almost every single 911 video I watch with dispatchers, they are incredibly unable to do their work properly. It’s so frustrating since they can make or break a case. This is one of the most frustrating examples or the one where the woman drowned alone in her car.

As an emergency medical dispatcher, that would be great in situations where people are in danger making a call like this - but we actually get a huge amount of information from the person’s demeanour, tone of voice, rate, rhythm & volume of speech etc as well as background noise. Plus most people want to know that they’re talking to a real person not some chatbot, so I’m not sure it will happen. If people can only text, they tend to text someone else & ask them to call emergency services for them. Plus far too many people just put stuff on social media these days too. The number of people that threaten suicide by FB, Snapchat & text these days is insane!

It's probably best that nobody knows, except those that she wants to know. That's kinda the ideal situation, as she gets to choose the amount of exposure her story gets that way. And as such, if she wants to just put it in the past, maybe tell a current or future friend/family member/therapist/whoever about it, that's her prerogative. This way, she isn't flooded with media calls and such, but can rather slip back into society should she so desire (obviously with some mental scars, I would imagine, but this way she can deal with it privately rather than being forced into the public spotlight)

I have heard this recording before, but every time I hear it I literally have heart palpitations. That 911 operator could have gotten her killed. She waited until halfway through the conversation to say she didn’t have to talk, and caused her to wake him up. Fair warning ⚠️ I’m about to rant She could simply have asked only vital questions and had her answer yes or no by tapping into the phone once yes, twice no or typing a number once or twice on the keypad if possible to do silently. Instead, in the end this girl saved herself. As soon as the operator knew the house wasn’t his, but an abandoned house he broke into, it meant he intended to kill this girl. They were so loud coming through the door, downstairs talking. It wouldn’t have taken two seconds for him to shoot her, rather than face testimony and life in prison. Then you find out it’s not his first rodeo, or even his fourth?! He definitely planned to kill her, too Maybe I should be thankful that 911 operator put down her Diet Coke and nail polish 💅 long enough to answer the call, and the bungling COPD put down their donuts 🍩 long enough to wheeze through the door. The funny thing about your theory is that her whispering answers never woke him up. The dispatcher had nothing to do with her bumping the taser, but even though she did, her talking still didn't cause him to wake up. So, all this stuff about the dispatcher endangering her is manure. Something could have happened and he could have taken her out of there before police arrived, gathering information such as whose phone she was using and where she was abducted would have helped investigators put various pieces together and track her down.
