I actually got a guy banned from the store that im a cashier at. He yelled at me and caused me to cave a panic attack, all because i was doing my job and checking to see if the money he handed me was fake or not. My manager heard the tail end of the incident and asked what happened after the guy left. The woman that was behind him in line told my manager everything. I was trying to breath and stop crying, so they had me go sit in the office to calm down. The jerk costumer got banned from all of the stores in the chain I work for.

I've had a few places I've cashiered at where swearing at the cashier was a serious enough offense that you would be immediately banned from that store. If you didn't leave immediately the police would be called, you would be trespassed from that location, and you'd be banned from all stores in the chain. Only saw it happen once. People are crazy and stores should protect their employees.

I had something similar happen to me, except it wasn't even the ladies money. She was the next customer in line. She kept going on n on about how I shouldn't bother checking 10's. I looked at her and said Ma'am first off this is a 50, second I'm just doing my job. A manager walking by heard the last bit and immediately took over talking to the lady.

I had a panic attack during my black Friday shift when I got accused of stealing from a French woman and her arrogant brother, who wasn't even there for anything but the phone call she made to him. I DID NOT steal instead there was a language barrier in which I had helped her pay for next month's account when all she wanted was to set up an account for her father. EVEN THOUGH I asked her THREE TIMES to make sure I was doing exactly what she had asked Pay the Bill and Set up the Account. My manager was on my side and was able to help me out while I collected myself in the back room. It took me a while but I managed to get my face cleared up as my coworkers and manager were absolute rock stars and let me have my time without making male feel guilty and made sure I was okay.

My partner had this sort of stuff happen to her at her work, but they never had her back and would even tell the customers that whatever issues were happening were the employee's fault and then proceed to throw free stuff at the entitled customers until they left. My partner quit pretty quickly and is now much happier and better off at a new job that actually cares. Moral of the story, if you want retention, a manager's duty should be to their employee's well being before the customer's "satisfaction"

We had a lady like this at our hotel. She was rude and drunk and screaming at everyone. Come to find out she worked at the hotel across the street. She had told us while drunk that she was an employee and she had the employee rate. We told the hotel about their employee's awful behavior towards our staff and I believe they fired her.

⁠​⁠@@justme5384some hotels do offer “industry rates” yes. Those are open to anyone in tourism related jobs, cruise ships/hotels/airlines, if you stretch it restaurant staff and taxi drivers even. But usually they suck, so it was likely a huge chain like Marriott which is up to I think 31+ sub brands now, Hilton has like 10 or so. In these mergers they end up owning hotels right across the street from each to their that used to compete but are now “sister brands”. Then there’s IHG which is like holiday inn and intercontinental/Kimpton Maybe the lady was banned from her chains employee rate and using an industry at a competitor because of it

I've never understood why people treat other people like that, but then again, I've worked in the service industry so, yeah... Treat people with dignity and respect, it's not hard, if you have a good sense of humor it helps, people will bend over backwards if you treat them well and are able to laugh at a difficult situation. Jess, these skits are awesome, keep it up👍

Can confirm. As a reservations agent, I'm far less willing to help if a guest is screaming at me, or belittling me or other staff members. If you start the call by complaining about how incompetent everyone was before you spoke to me, I don't care if you tell me I'm providing you the best service in the world, I'm ensuring that call goes beyond the max call length for a call to be reviewed just so I don't have to offer you any of the discounts I have available.

Yeah... it's usually not the brightest idea to have during your stay! I work the night shift in a Days Inn, and I also have to watch an Econolodge that belongs to the same owners, but has no clerk during the night. So it usually does not end well when a guest pisses me off... 😉🤗

Rule of thumb, NEVER do harm of any kind to the person on staff people think of as the sweetest/kindest. The wagons will circle around that person pretty fast and you will be the toast that you smell burning!!

I had a guy who was extremely rude to me in drive thru one time and the manager had to hold back her employee son from going out the window at this guy while another girl was like "let me hand out the food, please let me hand it out"

I enjoy being the nice person you don’t mess with. 😈 I encourage everyone to be as nice as possible and stand up for eachother too! When you are kind and loyal others will be kind and loyal too. Sometimes that means picking up the phone and throwing the book at someone who tries to ruin everyone’s day!

The fact he is an employee makes it 10x worse imo, because he should know better. He would probably hate to be treated this way, so the fact that he is willing to treat others this way means that he views other people as inherently beneath him. When humans suffer, it seems to me their thoughts can boil down to either “I hope no one else ever suffers this way” and “I cannot wait to make someone else suffer this way.”

problem is that some people are just like that. they're the "well i get treated like 💩, so it's only fair that i get to do it too." band wagon... kind of a misery-loves-company mentality. had an elderly cousin like that. she never got a tip when she waited tables, so therefore Nobody should get one. _didn't occur to her that she was such a 🙎‍♀even when working that she didn't Earn a tip. nope it Had to be for some other reason._ 🙄

When corporate employees come in and they don't actually KNOW what it's like dealing with customers like that it's one thing (not condoning that but you know they don't really understand either) but the people who work in the thick of it... they just suck.

I'm a police officer... so most of my colleagues know drunk, rude bullies and people who overstay their welcome... ... and every christmas celebration they become just these kind of people. A small flock of decent, ashamed colleagues and I took off last time when they refused to leave a party tent on a christmas market after being allowed to stay there for a few hours without a reservation due to a free slot.

Had something like this happen when I was working at a Hilton property. This lady was on a Hilton discount voucher and was being a huge pain. She was demanding and rude. She was primarily upset that the room type she requested wasn't available. After yelling at the front desk and housekeeping, the front desk manager had enough and called the lady's hotel... Turns out the lady was using her daughter's discount, which was allowed, but was not aware that her behavior could jeopardize her daughter's ability to get discounted room or be allowed to stay at a company hotel in the future. Lol, we got calls from the daughter, the daughter's boss, and the GM of the daughter's hotel asking for the lady room... The lady got a royal reaming from everyone in less than an hour... it was glorious, and we didn't have a single problem with her after that.

And this is exactly why I don’t let anyone use my family & friends discount no matter what! I once let my sister use it and got suspended for 6months because they said she was laughing too loud late at night.. Unless I’m staying with them in the room we are not using my discount.

I could not imagine being the type of low life that would use someone else's discount and then act like I'm 9. That's a great way to make enemies. If course, I'm also ex military. They drilled it into our heads that while on foreign land our behavior would be scrutinized by the locals and we needed to present ourselves in a positive way at all times.

I think hotels are the only industry that actively enforce these rules. But most other places I've worked at have much stricter rules about who can use your benefits. One place didn't allow anyone but the employee themselves to use their discount so I had to always go buy whatever my person wanted myself and have them either reimburse me or send me in with money

@@user-nn1nu2qz9c Airlines can be pretty strict too. I grew up on United, thanks to my dad and they were very strict with companion passes. Infact occasionally you still see stories about an airline "forcing" someone to change their clothes before boarding. 99% of the time it's because the person is on a companion pass and were not following the dress code that goes with it. The girl wearing tights a few year back comes to mind, and I knew instantly that she was on a companion pass, because I had seen people kicked or downgraded because they were not in proper attire. And you can lose pass privileges if someone abuses the rule.

Yes! I hate how hotel staff and other catering services in the industry have to quite literally, *cater* to the guest no matter the amount of wrongdoing they did. Honestly they should just ban the rude customers from ever coming to the hotel or using even hotel amenities.

They should, but even when they know the customer was a prick, they don't. Management at most companies will always choose shitting on their employees and more money vs defending their employees and less money.

She could have at least told him lounge access has been revoked, would suck to wake up expecting breakfast and not be able to get in but sounds like he was never supposed to be getting it I guess. I almost always get restaurant certificates for a la carte, I hate buffet. Glad my chain is more generous.

Former hotel director of sales here… our owner said that ANYONE who name drops him for extra perks gets nothing and downgraded. If someone is special enough, he’d add notes to the account or call us in advance.

Never worked for a hotel, but I did work for a bridal shop, we had a woman who kept asking; "Do you know who I am??!!" And snapping her fingers in the air "chop chop" and demanding things or she'd get us fired.... She ended up being banned from the store.

I work in for a small but nationwide retail chain. We had an extremely rude customer who was condescending and mean to every single employee, and the last time she was there, she let her dog poop on our floor and left without cleaning it up or even telling any employees. I had her banned from every single location 💅🏻

Ah the travel and hotel industry, what so many people fail to realize is that the power employees are given to make your stay magical, also means they have a lot of power to make your stay miserable. Treat that kind of power with respect.

Yeaaaaa. I have racked up “super high elite” perks with a company and i still treat everyone with respect. It should be in the print that if you don’t you no longer get the perks. Frequent travel doesn’t give you the right to treat others like crapS

In an unwritten way that does happen. If your a rude member you’ll be the last to get upgraded and last for late out/early in (within tier) but that’s usually a property level thing

it is with the airline I fly with. Treat staff like crap and you are out of the frequent Flyer program and I've seen them do it to a Platinum member, not just us lower level plebs.

I also work retail and I have found you don't need to cuss them out, you can make them feel really stupid by stating facts in your best customer service voice. I call it condescending customer service. An example that I've done: I worked in a used book store that did book trade where you could bring in your slightly used books and trade them for store credit to buy more books, or occasionally cash if you had something collectable or a very large amount (60+ boxes) of books. The counter was closed Sunday and Mondays, sometimes people would come in on the days it was closed and be very rude to my coworkers that we couldn't appraise their books. I would go over and in my sweetest customer service voice say "I'm sorry the book trade counter is closed Sunday and Monday because the book appraisers need days off too." They would apologize every single time because they realized how stupid and unreasonable they were being.

​@@whedonite81 You are so correct about using the voice. I had a fairly relaxed, yet professional style at the front desk and on the phones. Most of my interactions were enjoyable, productive, and efficient. My coworkers knew that I was dealing with an a%$ when they suddenly heard my voice change to prim, proper language with exceedingly precise and minimal use of words to professionally and expeditiously get them out of my life. 😂

I did something similar to an Entitled Man at my job. I do asphalt maintenance and he came across our barrier and walked across the lot while we were putting products on the lot. I asked him to get off the lot and he was really awful. Unfortunately for him, he told me who he worked for as he worked in a similar type of work. It just so happened that I have known his boss my whole life. I reported him directly to his bosses wife. Then I told the people at the apartments about the situation and he was claiming no job to stay based on income so now his rent will go up or he will be kicked out of the apartments.😊

What's funny about stuff like this is the awesome stuff that can happen if you are nice to people - I needed to cross a big parking lot between shopping plazas (there was a pedestrian cut through, otherwise you had to walk a mile around on roads!) and a crew was doing asphalt maintenance in the area in front of the cut through. I stopped, politely asked one of the crew if there was a way I could get around their working area and get through, and he very kindly led me through a safe space to the other side, and the rest of the crew waved. I was so appreciative because he saved me a long walk! Kindness and appreciation go a long ways!

I worked in a hotel call center and out of the 5 or 6 branded hotels in town only one would take the employee discount due to bad behavior from employees staying there in the past. Your videos are so apt and true to life!

This is the kind of person that I always strive to be in a workplace. You should always be looking out for your co-workers, especially if they are new and you know that the place has a history of being predatory or having very problematic clientele. Bad enough young people don't know labour laws, so don't let them get screwed by poor business practices! In numbers, employees have power.

I find that it is so much more rewarding to help young co-workers to succeed, but some people really just want everyone around them to fail, which is bizarre. I currently work at the same place as a woman who no one will work with, hence she has her shifts all alone and now complains about the workload. We're all in this together, let's make it great!

Reminds me of my server days... This one repeat group was a weekly nightmare, and after they made the sweet girl cry, I begged to get my hands on them. Revenge is a dish best served MY way! I don't think they ever came back, and management was as happy with that result as the staff.

As an aside I was on a visit to our state capital, Brisbane, this week where we got to stay at a Holiday Inn Express and the front of house staff couldn't have been more helpful to my wife in a wheelchair. So often we experience minor difficulties with ...just about everything. Not so this time. The room we got was especially made for wheelchair access as were the entry and exits, the breakfast area and ...everything. Well done and a big thanks from us. Mercifully I no longer work in a public-facing position, but I did so for 20+ years. The majority of people that I interacted with were polite and friendly and understood that we were trying to help them. Alas, the ones that stand out in memory are those who caused problems. I make sure to be very nice to the front-line staff. Having a good relationship helps when you need something quickly, etc. ETA: Jesse has such lovely blue eyes! 🥰

I have had to do this with hotel owners, employees, and their families.. This especially happens frequently with hotel owners. They believe that they are entitled to behave in any way they see fit. I instruct all of my employees at multiple properties to always report every guest who acts out or makes inappropriate comments to our staff. I find it amazing how many times I’ve had my job threatened by owners that feel they have to state how many hotels they own to prop themselves up.

This was great! I did a job at one point that involved business owners being required to spend a few minutes listening to me. It was a yearly thing and most knew to expect it. If a business refused to cooperate they get a note that puts them high on the list when testing time arrives. I definitely took some satisfaction in making those notes, when necessary. People have bad days and being cranky was fine, they just had to work with me. I did that job for years and I think I only made that not a few times. A couple of people actually apologized to me after realizing what I was there to do. They didn't have to apologize for being cranky and I appreciated it. Everyone has bad days, just try to treat people respectfully.

Whenever someone does something nice for me, I really appreciate the extra work done on my behalf. Asking with "please" or "thank you" costs nothing but may mean a lot to him/her. Add a smile and you can completely make that day brighter for them. They are servers, not servants.

I loved this skit. Having worked front desk, I am so happy to see some of these and I can relate to them so much. You are awesome and keep making great content. (Also I can say the only time I have been rude as a guest at a hotel was when I was instructed to be a problem guest for a sister location that was getting ready to open up. I did not enjoy that assignment but I had plenty of ammo from working the front desk for three years at that point.)

I remember seeing the video where you told this story. It's not hard to treat hotel staff with respect and courtesy. I strive to be a model guest at every hotel I stay at. I don't understand why some people feel entitled to demean hotel staff like that jerk did until he had his Coming to Jesus moment.

When i was a cocktail waitress i used to LOVE getting handsy creeps bounced. We had a secret hand gesture we'd do so the bouncers would see & they'd escort the dudes out. The power! 😂

The same scenario happened while I was on the front desk. I loved this skit because it was so true to life. Everyone would have been thrilled with you. I love it that you were so nice to the guy who had been humbled because that's what I would have done and have done. Why kick someone when they are down, right? My hotel chain would not allow this, and they could be fired. Great skit! On so many levels!

I love staying at choice hotels on my discount, and I make sure I never behave like that. And the employee rate usually doesn't qualify for rewards.

I feel this so much!! I used to work for a Hard Rock Hotel, and while I never personally dealt with guests like this, some of my coworkers did. It's never ok to act like an ahole!!

This sings to my soul. I once had a really vicious troll attack one of my friends online. Said some really nasty, racist stuff that was abhorrent and extremely detailed. So another friend and I checked his account and found the company he worked for. Googled that and saw their strict guidelines of expected behaviour and then dropped an email to the HR with copies of his posts. He got fired and we got an email from the company expressing their apologies and reassuring us that that isn’t a viewpoint they value.

My husband used to work at a Holiday Inn in downtown Minneapolis. Because of that, we could get discounted stays in other Holiday Inns, so we used that privilege one anniversary weekend early in our marriage. Hubby was very explicit about the conditions of the privilege. It wasn’t like we were going to anything like get drunk in the pool, but we definitely went out of our way to neaten the room before we left and were very polite to all of the staff.

We just started hockey season at the hotel where I work as a housekeeper. First weekend, we had 4 teams stay with us and 3 were banned from coming back. Our manager was particularly upset with how they treated our youngest, sweetest housekeeper and she's pushing for them to be banned from all hotels citywide. Don't fuck with the staff!

I work at a clothing store and at this clothing store we have a coupon limit.😅 you must know how that worked out. Someone was using way too many coupons and when i said "im soory but we have a coupon limit" they freaked out! They threw things on the ground and yelled, they acted like a complete toddler. I got them banned after they "accidentely" hit a customer and yelled at a few employees. It was a terrible experience

I know at my previous motel. As staff we could stay free of charge at any other motels in our company that was outside a 50 mile radius from us. But if there was any sort of issue with bad behavior or if they caused a issue, or if they were rude. The Gm could call the offender’s home property. And they could get fired or lose the free stay advantage or they could be cut to a 30% discount for future stays. But if they screwed up again they would definitely get fired.

LOVED THIS!! I was a supervisor/trainer/manager in the Postal Service an NEVER treated my employees in this manner. I would let my manager know if I observed this type of behavior from any supervisor as it is those same employees that do the actual work in an operation, not the supervisor!
