Royale Film Wear are doing a tremendous job. As too are the frugal sites. Absolutely agree with the thinking that being a Bond fan shouldn't be something anyone can't participate in at any level...whether it be clothing, merch, or events because its beyond their financial means. This is Excellent ,much needed & reassuring video. Sincere Thanks David 🙏
I think it's cool that both you and they are doing this. In all honesty, I am not a super big James Bond fan but do think there were some incredible style moments in the movies over the years. I think people should be dressing better generally and, not everyone can afford it, but if James Bond causes people to dress better, I am all for it.
I go to Goodwill on $1 Thursdays and look for my Bond look. I have gotten sport jackets, pants, plenty of polo shirts and sweaters, ties. All creating the Bond look. I have even found some nice, like new, Chucka boots. I love getting the look for a very low price. I can't afford the name brands, but the look can be replicated non the less. I had someone comment one day that I obviously had a good job to dress so well. But it was all Goodwill items. Just shows the Bond style itself looks high end!!
Great video as always. For me personally, I never want to be recognized out with wearing "Bond", it's a personal/incognito thing that I appreciate. Only my wife will ask "is that a Bond shirt, is that a Bond tie" but she knows, she gets it. I recently had a black two-button suit made in which I designed to include many different elements of Bond suits that I liked, I even threw in the peak lapels from the white Goldfinger dinner jacket as a nod. So for our 12th anniversary I donned the suit with the waffle pattern Turnbull & Asser shirt & black tie with the white Albert Thurston braces and it felt great! However, I think I would die of embarrassment if someone came up and said "is that the Casino Royale tux shirt?" I don't want this to be a cosplay thing, ever. For me it's a reinvention of style that I want to adopt from Bond, not "Be" James Bond.
For those who cannot or do not want to invest a few grand into a watch, some Bond watches like the NTTD are available from Pagani at a fraction of the price. Of course (I own a few real Omegas) the quality etc. is not the same. But most people will not notice and of course, you can have some fun without spending too much money here. I am not connected to Pagani and I do not own one, but I saw these on RU-vid and Amazon. Best, Tim
Sartorial vs Cosplay, walks a fine line and I’m glad you touched on that. Its not always conducive to put the whole outfit together. Unless you’re naked and afraid with naked jeans LOL.
This is great! So glad Frugal Bond is back. Thank you for these videos! May I suggest having the fine folks at Iconic Alternatives on a future Frugal Bond vids?
Seiko Samurai is my Bond watch. Frugal ftw! I have 2 - the black waffle dial one on a black and grey Bond nato strap, and the Save the Ocean Great Watch Shark one which to me homages the Omega Seamaster with the wave pattern on the blue dial - but it actually looks cooler than the Omega!
I enjoy mix matching frugal and non frugal pieces as I’m always on the go with my 3 yr old son. It’s a much easier pill to swallow when little accidents happen. Great video. 🙌🏼
The Spectre Morocco suede jacket is a good place to start. Availble from Amazon. Need to add a few quid to the budget to get the sleeves shortened they are really long!
I recently purchased the MI6 trousers from Royale Filmwear. Love these trousers and they pair very well with my N. Peal blue Skyfall sweater, Crockett & Jones Islays and Barbour Commander jacket. There are many other outfits that can be recreated with these. Thanks for another great frugal Bond moment!
Thats a nice outfit! I too have tried to emulate what Bond wears. I love Daniel Craig's Bond outfits. I have noticed in Marks and Spencer they were selling an identical jacket to the one he wore in Spectre when he went to the clinic to visit Madeleine. All these nice suits and clothes Bond wears, you got to ask how much he gets paid as a British Secret Agent.
@@TheBondExperience true! All those dry martinis dont come cheap lol But also he is good at poker which might account for some of his wealth. In casino royale in the chase scene on the construction site he was dressed like a back packer.
Even in suiting I've found that a similar looking suit can look the part. I just a couple of days ago got a good deal on a barely used Henry Bucks suit in a grey glen check which looks almost exactly like the grey glen check from NTTD, paired with a blue tie with a tie bar and it feels every last bit like the Tom Ford (except mine isn't skin tight). Same with my grey sharkskin suit that I bought because I loved the look of the suit in the opening of Skyfall, I wear that (often, it's my favourite suit) and I feel like Bond in Turkey every time.
Received Royale’s Harrington just this week (though I wouldn’t turn down the chance to get the Tom Ford version). Great quality and price, will definitely be a regular wear. Fantastic jacket.
For me the Royal Filmwear does the best job of any of the film replica clothing. Daniel Love is meticulous because as a fan he wants to get it absolutely right! I LOVE his Harrington jacket from QoS. Plus, at hundreds of dollars, not thousands, I don't have to be so precious with the garments because I can be a bit rough on my stuff. The term "this is why we can't have nice things" was invented by my mom.
iconic alternative and bamf style are fantastic resources for getting the look. And I think it's totally fine to be on the sartorial"spectrum" of Bond. Like David said, I don't wanna cosplay, but you can't go wrong dressing in "the style" This concludes my use of quotation marks for the day.
I always replicated the Royale polo outfit with a JCPenney polo, Dockers, the Converse Jack Purcell OTR since I always thought those where the shoes used in that scene, and the Omega PO, I could spend on the watch but not the polo 😅
My Bond journey started with the Sunspel polo then the QOS cardigan from Magnoli which was a disaster. I was lucky that my wife used to work for Chanel so when Orlebar Brown were offered in staff sale for 90% off I bought up big and scored the setter shorts
yes,i like to mix and match and always on the look out in charity and vintage shops, and have been wanting the cardigan in the danial love range, was going to treat myself for xmas but found an exact copy in a vintage clothing shop by coilo for 8 euros!!!!!
Thank you David, it's great to see the frugal bond making a comeback, looking forward to hopefully seeing some more of these in the future. Would you consider doing a frugal bond watch version at some point, knowing your interest of bond watches , it would be interesting to see your take on what would make a great frugal bond watch
I am so glad you did this video ❤️ as a nurse I havent got lots of money to spend, but I do try to be a frugal bond and save for nice pieces and experiences. ❤️
I'll say this...once you cross the bridge to higher end clothes, there is no desire to go back. Something's are definitely worth the money and they will last three times as long as any other.
Hi David,as Royale film wear ,I am reaching out to you to please ask Danial Love to make a sive 4xl as I think he's sick of me trying to make a size witch would be a perfect for me. as he is about to do another run of the Mr White Jacket. I like to think i helped you to change the lences of your Tom Ford sunglasses. You are my last & best chance of attain this garment which would be a great addition to my wardrobe., thanks for hopfully helping me out a fellow Bond fan?🤞
I thought David would have been attending the Bond Omega 60th Anniversary where Daniel Craig appeared. David if you see Daniel Craig again, please bring up a mention of QoS!
It's all personal preference and it's not hurting me (much). But the NATO on the Omega would look so much neater if the strap was worn over and under, so all the excess strap is kept with the buckle. Instead of a half inch from the 12 O'clock position. It's also more fitting to the Bond theme, it's how Connery wore his NATO in Goldfinger. Which is incidentally my daily Bond moment. My Goldfinger NATO on a Steinhart retro Rolex homage.. Sadly I will never be able to afford the $500k watch its paying homage to but it makes me smile that it's only a very personal thing. That said. I can't find any screenshots of how Daniel Craig as Bond wears his NATO strap.. I'm sure there is a forum for how Craig wears his straps..
More frugal in the future again please The Bond Experience. Many of us mere mortals who like to dress the discount frugal Bond lifestyle cannot afford the expensive brands.
I found a polo t shirt like Bond from Casino Royale in H&M identical and like his, it has no buttons. Most people are not very observant and if they try to copy his outfits they get it wrong all the time. For example I was once at a Murder Mystery evening in a swanky Hotel and the theme was Bond. Most guys wore Tuxedos but a lot of them wore ordinary white shirts like they might wear in the office and the collars were up as if they were waiters or at an Oxford University Ball. They simply had no idea! But I wanted to be original and authentic so what did I do? I rented a Navy Uniform as James Bond is a Commander in the Navy. Haha I was the only one who turned up in a full Navy Uniform.
He’s saying menlo, if you search Levi 1930 menlo jacket you’ll find it. It doesn’t seem like they’re making them anymore but I don’t know that for sure
Been meaning to ask if anyone knows another (relatively) reasonably priced bond clothing piece like the sun spell polo. Been wanting get a screen accurate one as a self gift this christmas
