In this week’s episode, I am breaking down the nutrition you need to lift heavy and run far. We are constantly inundated with information on social media and the internet about new studies and diets, and it’s easy to be pulled into a particular way of thinking without being diligent in doing the research ourselves. The methods are many, but the concepts are few. The perfect diet is the one you can adhere to. I will be taking you on a deep dive into what I consume as a hybrid athlete and how it works to fuel my performance. Enjoy!

All BS aside. As normal guy who considers himself a “Corporate Athlete” everything about this pod is dead on! Nick has clearly done all the experiments. This is truly the only TRUTH about diet, nutrition and performance. You can trust this man.

I am so glad and grateful that I found your podcast today. Listening to a few of your videos has already helped my mindset and pull me out of a dark mental spot of overwhelm I was in. It started with the simple question of "Can I...?" And with each tiny little task that I questioned out loud, the answer was always "Yes!" and with each little yes came another little goal I accomplished in my day. I could say day, but it started with literally just the next second of life because these tasks were so simple, and it felt good to build on that momentum. Suddenly I had energy to keep going and my entire day changed. ALSO! I wanted to say I had such a craving for pickled beets after this episode, it took me three, count 'em, THREE stores tonight to find cans of pickled beets! :D And now I have some for the week! I appreciated, too, how you go through your day step by step as a parent, auto adjusting your plan if kids didn't sleep well, and how you lay out your supplements for future success with backwards planning. I have gained so much from your podcast already, I am grateful and I look forward to continued gains of tuning into more positive mindset shifts and knowledge in hybrid training, lifestyle, and nutrition. Thank you!

Dang... Been enjoying your content over the past month and now heading to the website to try a few of your supps but mainly to support you and your business as you encourage us. You almost convinced me to download the Gram just for your stories... almost. "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

I remember your response in the Mark Belk pod when he asked “how can a person get this amount of work in and still reviver consistently without gear?”. Hilarious. Everybody is a version of the Liver King at this point.

I'm 49 and training for the NYC marathon. I think 8-10 miles most days is overkill. I counterbalance with more stretching and yoga. I do 7-13 2x per week. I agree with everything else mentioned more or less. I have added in calisthenics as of the last few years. Air squats on my off days from runs. 500-1000 per session. I literally get up at 4:40am and get at it. Just not pounding pavement as much as I used to and find I can run just as long and fast. Also entirely agree running fasted vs running fueled. My pre fuel for any run over 7 miles is honey, banana maybe even a paleo valley beef stick to take the hunger edge off. Eat more, train more

The BEST book on nutrition I've ever read is Sally Fallon's "Wise Traditions" book. After reading that book, you won't look twice at any fad diet.

Summed up pretty well at 14:30, it is crazy there are so many people online who say eat this and don't eat that. A lot of misinformation around the diet that you can literally drive yourself crazy. My rule of thumb is trying to stick to 1 ingredient foods, seems to work well for me.

I wish there was a budget hybrid diet for us guys that are living on a college budget but still want to eat clean and fuel our bodies for running and lifting. I am unsure what to do in my current position. The budget plays into this more than I feel like any of these people who are quite wealthy actually realize. Based on what I heard nick say in terms of what he eats on a daily basis, I am assuming he pays $100 a day in food. If anyone has any simplified diets that don’t kill the pocket book let me know.
@guilers

You can train but not at the level of intensity that nick does because you can't afford the food do calisthenics for the big four compound lifts using your bodyweight and then adding weight to yourself as you get stronger. Only do traditional bodybuilder exercise for your arms and calves. In the morning hop on a treadmill and walk briskly not run at any incline you choose. In the evening do the hybrid calisthenics bodybuilding workout and you will be good you will not need to eat ridiculous amounts of protein but average hell you can just eat intuitively good luck

So you’re not gonna talk about what having a healthy relationship with foods looks like? Just have a healthy relationship with foods? That was the first 30 minutes? Wow. You truly only have to be consistent. You prove that to me every single time I watch one of your videos. The distance between your intelligence level and your success level is insane. And the gap is made up by consistency. Powerful example.

This sort of reminds me of those old annoying supplement ads, where they reel you in with a lot of basic and hyped up info and then sell you something at the end. Kind of disappointing episode. Do enjoy your products and use your Go Gels and G1M for my runs. But this just came off sales pitchy

50 yr old hardgainer here. 5’8” 185lbs in my underwear. I can bench and squat twice my body weight and have a 32” waist.. i eat 2800-3000 calories a day and close to a gram of protein per pound of body weight.. My point is sir that although im fairly strong for my age and size and have a decent physique i dont feel im in shape because i have NO cardio in the tank. I cant even run a mile without stopping.. havent ran in yrs because i dont wana burn up my calories or get to lean (165-175lbs👎🏻) any advice how to work in cardio to my regimen and still keep my size? Thank you for your time sir!

Yeah, it's not "whole food" but it's also not heavily processed with a ton of added garbage ingredients. It (their proteins) come from a natural source.

Some heavily processed food are actually very good for you according to extensive studies. i.e. whey protein. Bare is a business man first however don’t be fooled by the sells pitch. I’m more curious if he will ever discuss using ped’s tho. That would actually be very insightful
