@@tonyojiambo9071 Raiden is tge better fighter. Shao Khan is just ruthless and more aggressive. And sometimes that can overcome any skilled fighter. Which is why Shao Khan whooped Raiden's ass in MK9.

It’s possible that Liu Kangs new created Raiden in the new era stays it‘s defender together with earthrealms champion Kung Lao. Liu Kang said he will meet him again and I doubt he would only create him to be a normal guy, that’s more Fujins wish.

I know it's late to reply, but I will explain for you. Raiden recieved the signs from his future self and he encouraged everyone to follow what he says in order to prevent Armageddon.And during Nightwolf's chapter, Nightwolf successfully prevented the Soulnado that Quan Chi summoned. Raiden thought it would prevent Armageddon til he looked at his Amulet forged by the Elder Gods continued to crack further and he was frustrated as he leaves the leadership to Nightwolf while he and Liu Kang went to seek counsel with the Elder Gods. That's when the Cyber Lin Kuei surrounded them, while they successfully fend them off, Sindel appeared and she eliminated mostly all the Kombatants but then Nightwolf would defeat her then he would get trapped by her hair and he had no other choice but to sacrifice himself, as Raiden and Liu Kang returned, they were shocked with what they see, Sindel gets vaporized aswell as Nightwolf. Liu Kang saw Kitana all wounded and defeated as she dies. Liu Kang was devastated and he wouldn't continue to trust Raiden's actions as he told him to go on his quest alone while he aids Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. Raiden decides to go to the Netherrealm to seek alliance with Quan Chi. He made a deal that he would offer the Kombatant's soul and his. But Quan Chi already captured their soul and making them a revenant. While he successfully defeated 2/3 of the revenants, he thought of a different idea that Shao Kahn should merge the realms so that the Elder Gods would punish him due to violating the laws of Mortal Kombat. He would teleport to the roof and Liu Kang noticed Raiden returning with nothing from the Netherrealm. Raiden tried to convince Liu Kang to allow Shao Kahn should merge with Outworld. Liu Kang silences Raiden and he decided to try and fight Shao Kahn on his own, but Raiden would intervene telling him he cannot fight Shao Kahn. The two would fight each other, Liu Kang would be defeated by Raiden but he decides to get back up and run to Shao Kahn before being blocked by Raiden as he casted a lightning on the ground. Liu Kang had enough as he summoned fire on his hands and told Raiden that if he wants to die, so be it. Liu Kang charged at Raiden before he used his thunder powers to make a lightning wall and Liu Kang was electrocuted and fried from both the Lightning and Fire. Raiden was shocked that it wasn't meant to happen. Liu Kang would say his final words to Raiden saying, "You have killed us all.". I'm sure this is enough info of how Raiden got his allies killed in MK9.
