Dragonlord 885 Since it's the city of stone you don't have to watch for those dastardly dragons that much. It's those damn vampire strays that are the real threat lol
I'm willing to bet that about 90% of players don't even know that you can actually save Margret, the woman who gets stabbed as you enter Markarth. She gives you a necklace of you save her, actually. She's an Imperial spy.
I was gonna side with them on my Wood Elf character. But I faced the Dawnguard bug that prevented me from getting into the castle and that was the last of him.
So much untapped story potential here, had the designers actually properly implemented diseases into the base game and designed their questlines with it in mind, rather than them just being complete afterthought minor magical debuffs and (even worse) so easily curable you wonder why healers even exist in the world.
Which I find rather odd. Becuase if thsse prions already exist inside the human body then why are they harmless until consumed by another human. It should make no difference either way.
Buttholds of Skyrim from least to most shitty: Falkreath - Death themed, Werewolf Murder, Jarl is a massive fucking douche Winterhold - Constant Snowy Darkness, Massive Disrepair, College Doormat Morthal - Swamp, Ghosts, Vampires among them, Positioned where no one needed or wanted a town. Windhelm - Constant Snowy Darkness, Serial Killer, Poor Kid, Murder kid, Unequal Segregation, and Disrepair Riften - THIEVES, Corruption, Squalor, Pollution, Disrepair Markarth - Molag Bal, Namira, Forsworn, Corruption, Squalor Warrens .
My entire experience in Markarth was absolutely fucked. Let's see the chain of events I experienced. So my first experience with Markarth was waking up drunk in the middle of the temple there, having never been there before. On my way out of the city to deal with that particular quest to discover what the hell I did while drunk, I saw a guy get murdered in the street. When I returned to deal with that issue, I got involved in a conspiracy that got me thrown in prison where I then unleashed an angry horde of forsworn into the countryside. Then I later returned for a thieves guild guest, where I was stopped by a priest and dragged into a haunted house where a daedric lord tried to get me to pick up his weapon. Then the final time I returned I got involved in this shit, which ended in me slaughtering every cannibal after talking to them and all of their previous lines suddenly making sense. And that is the story of why I never, ever, returned to Markarth.
@@brunoactis1104 Idk why everyone seems to hate markarth. The house you can get there is actually really nice, at least in comparison to the only other house I’ve ever bought, the one in whiterun. I don’t do any quests while I’m there, I just think the city looks really fucking cool.
Happened to my favorite and FIRST good mace.... one well aimed disarm shout by a deathlord and *poof!* I never saw that beautiful thing again ;-; Still haunts me to this day, how much I looked around for it, but never found it... And f#ck na I wasn't about to restart that nightmare all over again just to hopefully get through with it at the end
EssenceOFortune I don’t remember where it was but it was one of the cave systems that was really big - meaning that I did not want to restart the entire thing again cause that would have taken ages. I ended up finding better weapons tho that mace will always be an old favourite
You can get two Dawnbreakers from Meridia's quest and dual-wield them with no issues until one of those damn draugrs disarms you then one will disappear as if it was never there and you have to revert a save to get it back. I've also had Mehrune's Razor and the Mace of Molag Bol glitch through the floor never to be seen again after being disarmed. It would be a great mechanic for enemies if losing Daedric artifacts and unique weapons wouldn't happen.
Got to love how the priest rewards you for killing the cult like you didn't just lead him into a trap and then only change your mind at the very last second.
Still remember my first play through, I was a nord running around with a two handed sword and I got to the part where she turned around to leave and I power attacked her and got the decapitation animation, felt like a real movie moment.
Wait wait wait. Eola ate the bodies of the dead in the Hall of the Dead? But...wouldn't they be like filled with embalming fluid or however that works? If i was a cannibal i would not eat a preserved dead body.
Not going to lie when I first played this quest I was like 10 and I walked in and nearly shit my pants then I hear the footsteps of her running up to me and the game did that turn around when your talked to from another angle and oh my god I screamed so loud you thought I was dying
Tasted mortal flesh yes, when young, kind of. I always play as a werewolf but as a Hound of Hircine I find the idea of scavaging to be repulsive. Why feed on the long dead when Hircine has granted his hounds the power to claim freash kills.
Fun fact: after you get the ring if you kill all the cultists Namira is very happy. It's also a good way to power up the Ebony Blade as after you get the ring they're all considered your friends.
when I had first gone in there and experienced this quest, I was very intrigued. But, I ended up killing the whole coven. Cannibalism is so disgusting to me.
I had just stumbled on the coven after helping out the priest (because I love collecting quests to have a ton to scroll through and complete). I was on my way to helping out some other guy for the Mara quest, and I didn't at all intend to become a cannibal, but, hey, I was already a Bosmer AND a werewolf. Might as well.
Markarth is Fun. You walk in, someone gets stabbed, go up to the Keep and get invited to do some good old fashioned cannibalism, and when you get back a Vigiliant of Stendarr drags you into a situation he clearly wasn't ready for, and suddenly you're doing Molag Bal's bidding too.
I remember doing this quest but paid no attention to it and just went along with it, but seeing it now this was way more sinister than I thought it was. Now that I think about it, my character is the dragon born, part of the thieves guild, a member of the dark brotherhood, part of a group of foresworn, is a stormcloak,is also a werewolf, and is part of a cannibal cult. This is why I love Skyrim :')
Namiras Altar: A giant hook, kill the pray laying on me, yourself! Namiras Ring: It is technicly impossible to eat a fresh body without me! And this is why I have a cult, of which nobody posesses my shiny self.
Well in a gameplay perspective, the ring actually gives you a reason to eat corpses, I mean if there were no benefits then why do it in the first place? Also, Daedra while powerful can't interact with the mortal realm directly, they can however manifest themselves and manipulate mortals into doing things for them and are usually awarded, and the last time a Daedra made it into the mortal realm (See Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) It was Dagon and he almost destroyed Tamriel, it's complicated stuff to be fair
so did our character really commit cannibalism in the past or is that just eola fucking with us? I suppose how we handle the quest decides whether she was right or wrong.
Well, I really thought that she realised that I was actually a Werewolf who had already eaten people while in my transformations…but now I think she was just fucking with us
Well I guess that depends on what race you select. Wood elves are cannibals apparently. It could also apply to vampires and werewolves as well. Maybe argonians. From a role-playing standpoint she could be right but in general I think she's just manipulating you. Trying to make you doubt yourself.
@@KDB349 Hey man, thanks for the reply all these years later. You make a good point, it can be either/or, from a roleplay/manipulation standpoint given the players style and choices.
Well oxhorn's videos are way deeper concerning lore and mostly, scenery. Oxhorn understood that besthesda went for the "untold scenarii" (I don't kno the term in english, it consists in narrating without words but architecture, scenery etc...) with many little details that actually tell some stories. I love fudgemuppet, their videos are great. But for example, Oxhorn tells EVERY OUTCOME of each dialog lines and quest, which is quite the work and organization if you think about it ! But they are not really competitors anyway since oxhorn does not like fantasy and skyrim, and I think fudgemuppet only makes skyrim lore videos because it would be redundant to oxhorn's work to make fallout 4 lore videos.
Actually it's up to the player to decide whether it's part of their character's back story or not, that's how ES games work, your character has no backstory, because you make your own, it's an RPG after all
Just like how Brynjolf assumes you're a thief the first time he meets you just because you have a lot of money. Or how the Companions assume you want to become a member of the circle and a werewolf just because you've done a couple of jobs for them. Or how Astrid assumes that just because you killed Grelod you were doing it as an "assassin" in the mold of the Dark Brotherhood. Or how the Blades and Greybeards assume you believe any of the Dragonborn prophecy stuff just because you have new powers. This game really needed more options to tell people off.
Can we get a Beggar Remastered build? It's one of your oldest builds and I would really want to see a remastered version as it was a very unique playstyle
when I realised that ive stumbled into a cannibal cult during my first playthrough, Ive never been so taken back. Besides Astrid kidnapping me, skyrim never ceases to surprise me.
I kinda wish there was an element to the quest where if you are a Vampire or Werewolf it effected the dialogue. I mean, if your a vampire, you feed on mortals and if your a werewolf, you literally eat hearts. My character at the moment is a werewolf and I literally eat entire bandit camps in the name of the Huntsman.
Before it became an internet buzzword, "dank" had an original meaning. It meant unpleasantly left to become wet and gross. I like to think of it as a combination of damp and rank. That's basically the meaning used by the priest there, don't forget this game was originally made way back when in the 2011s.
Dank memes were a thing way before that. Originally associated with the MLG memes (420, noscopes, hitmarker sounds, stuff like that). The only time i have seen the word "dank" used by its original meaning was in Dragon's Dogma, where everyone speaks in old english. "I'll ill miss this dank place when we move on". If i'm not mistaken, it was what the pawns said sometimes when in a cave with a lot of water.
At the beginning, where you're first confronted in the hall of the dead, I like to transform into a werewolf and say: "You're right. I do want to eat people. Let's start with you; not so wondrous on the other end is it?"
as I usually play a wood elf there is a chance that pre skyrim events there was cannibalism but I highly doubt there would be guilt over the greenheart pact.
Have you read that book found in the tavern near winterhold? Its called "words of the clan mother Ahnissi" and it mentions Namira aswell. "Ahnurr caught Fadomai while she was still birthing, and he was angry. Ahnurr struck Fadomai and she fled to birth the last of her litter far away in the Great Darkness. Fadomai's children heard what had happened, and they all came to be with her and protect her from Ahnurr's anger. And Fadomai gave birth to Lorkhaj, the last of her litter, in the Great Darkness. And the Heart of Lorkhaj was filled with the Great Darkness. And when he was born, the Great Darkness knew its name and it was Namiira."
which is stupid imo. the timeline should never assume that the player character completed all questlines or any at all. if anything it should only assume that the pc completed the mq
Emily von Richter I never played oblivion but I think that is the mq in the shivering isles dlc and all the main quest are cannon like harken being killed and mirak being killed
If you could avoid the extended parts of silence and speak the dialog options you choose that would make these videos much better. Loving the videos though
It's no secret that I play Skyrim and watch these videos at the same time, but what makes this time quite funny is that while watching this video I was playing a sneaky cannibal with Eola as my follower
Also am I the only one who notices that if your character is a vampire with Namira's Ring, then it pretty much makes them a zombie? Because you're an undead cannibal at that point
Your comment "Some guy with a shitty face tattoo" forcefully made me deepthroat a piece of cake... The rest of this video better be worth it or I'm pressing charges
Once I found out they where going to eat brother verulus I went back to the save before, outfitted him with ever upgrading armor/weapon and let him follow me. Mercurio is number one tho. With the two and the up to six spider followers (not including summoning) I have a veritable small army at my side. Very nice for those lonely Skyrim days.
After getting personally quite pissed off that I had no speech options to back out after that very first talk with Eola, I ended up saving the priest's life at the last moment and killing most of the cult. A bit odd that the developers considered the quest enough to reward me for saving the priest's life, but not enough that all the other cult members would remember I turned on them or anything, and just go back to their daily lives and talk to me normally.
vortigauntfan You can kill Eola in the Hall of the Dead and just tell Brother Velarus that the cannibal has been dealt with. He rewards you, but does not want any of the gruesome details.
Decius looked upon the corpse of the priest before him, not blind to Namira's influence and temptations to devour the flesh. The young mage was already getting to the first bite, yet he stopped. His mind wandered, this is wrong, he thoght. If I do this, Namira will claim my soul forever! He wondered how he would look his friends in the face, knowing he had done something so vile. J'zargo, Berlyna, Onmund, all the rest. So he made his decision. "Eola..." he spoke motionless. "Yes?" She responded to the pleading voice, ready to comfort him and encourage him further. A still moment of silence followed, broken by Decius' voice as he looked her in the eye, steadfast and unyielding. "Draw forth your blade..." he seethed, drawing forth his own. "What?" Eola asked, but seeing two dremora exit the portals behind him was all the explanation she needed. It was sudden, quick as a blink the fireball he released from the tips of his fingers smashed into the table, scattering humans and utensils alike across the coven. Eola needed but one more glimpse to see whose rage she just invoked. Those were the eyes of a true beast, whose conjured blade would devour them all. As he stood above her defeated and trembling form, she saw, beneath his hood, the eyes of a man who has no mercy, no remorse and no pity. A curious soul who had curses put on him, only for him to relinquish himself from it afterwards. Most of all, she saw a man who will now curse her for all eternity. Eola's soul now resides within the daedric chestpiece of Decius, feeling her lifeforce be siphoned every time he used a conjuration or destruction spell, when his magica would regenerate or the chestpiece would be struck, her soul now bound to this item feeling and fueling it, it would suffer in the soul cairn, far away from her precious Daedra.
The first time I played Skyrim I wanted to become a werewolf but didn't really know how,I just heard you could be one and when I met Eola it made sense to me that this whole conversation was about being a werewolf so I joined the fucking cult, got the ring and proudly announced to my horrified friend who introduced me to skyrim that I'm a werewolf now xD
the most powerful daedric prince is a toss up between sheogorath and molag bal but most of the daedric princes fear sheogorath because they know what he can do
Jygglag is legitimately the strongest, because his superior power over the other daedric princes is what caused them to all team up together - something you'd never imagine them doing - in order to curse him to become Sheogorath whenever the greymarch isn't going on. As Sheo, he still has all that power - just not the focus of purpose to ever weild it too much in any one particular direction - it's randomized.
Scaring: Hearing Eola voice in the background when you walk into the hall. Terrifying: Is when you have glitch while talking to Eola while hearing Eola's voice in the background.
And there's a mod upon a mod on the Nexus (you have to have both for it to work) that makes Lilmothiit a playable race, they're lore friendly, and if it's the last mod in your load order, Eola is made Lilmothiit as well.
Is it bad I strangely don't care about the morals of cannibalism much in skyrim ? I mean, you're already a cannibal if you ever eat the human heart or flesh ingredients or potions made from it Or if you eat people as a werewolf or vampire Or become an assassin It just feels like justifying these actions are redundant compared to the other shit you do
hear me out cannibalism is ok as long as you keep morality about never killing because you want to eat, you only eat after you had to kill that's in theory, in practice these bonuses always makes you somewhat favor murders later on :)
My first playthrough I killed Eola the second she mentioned the whole brother sister thing, so disgusted by her. After finding out who else is also a cannibal, I might have to go finish the job. Next playthrough I'll do it though, though my stomach will be churning the whole time.
Wow this video was awesome, very immersive and entertaining, more like those pls!! reminded me of shoddycast vídeos, but just with more adventure!!! (sorry for typos, im from Brazil, feel free to correct me)
I only did this quest with an Orc character. Naturally, he did not kill Verulus as he serves Malacath and Malacath alone. Instead, he wiped out the cannibal cult with his companion Ghorbash the Iron Hand in the name of Malacath. Good times, good times.
Choice Snarf Seriously. The Daedra choose how they manifest themselves in the mortal plane. Take Boethiah, who has appeared as both male and female over the games. If it makes sense within their sphere of influence to be male or female, they tend to do that.
Ever play oblivion or Morrowind in those two Boethia was male as fuck then I play skyrim and boethia is a woman, that did a bamboozle when playing skyrim
Excuse me, probably a stupid question, but how the fuck can Draugr use dragon shouts? I've known they can for years, never wondered why. Also, is there no option to save Priest Verulus while fullfilling the quest? He seems like a friendly and polite man, I wouldn't wanne kill him. Can't you just grab a Forsworn from the hills and eat that?
Peter Timowreef It's speculated that the Draugr buried in the Nord tombs were once the dragon cultists and because they aligned themselves with the dragons, the Divines cursed their souls with unrest.
Draugr are ancient Men, from a time when Nords practiced magic quite well. Draugr that can use shouts are the ancient Tongues of old. They learned how to use Thuum from Paarthurnax so that they would have the strength to overthrow him
This mission reminded me of a Tales from the Crypt episode titled Mournin Mess. In the episode a news reporter is investigating a group that claims to be giving the homeless proper burials. Turns out that the group are eating the deceased homeless. In the end it turns out that they're not even human but ghouls. But the crazy thing is that they seemed to be normal humans that he interacted with. He even slept with one. Seeing the normal everyday merchants that live in Markarth sitting down for a feast on human flesh mirrors the end of the episode.
