Mihrimah finds out about what happened and confronts with Selim. Suleiman inflicts a meaningful punishment on Bayezid. Bayezid gets subjected to injustice and shows a red flag.
An eternal winter begins for Suleiman after Hürrem's death. Suleiman leaves the magnificence in palace and falls into a deep silence. Hürrem's death will change not only Suleiman's life but everyone's. Bayezid loses his biggest support after his mother's death. However, Selim wants to take Rüstem on his side. Rüstem gets cornered after Selim finds out his secret even though he is determined to stay loyal to Bayezid. Nurbanu declares her era has begun. Nurbanu gets shocked by what the fortune teller who has oracled to Hürrem tells her.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

Everyone else has mentioned Suleiman and their children, but let's not forget poor Sümbül. He's here helping to carry the coffin of his dear friend whom he's known since she was a fiery young slave girl. Not just the person he served, but the woman who laughed with him and gave him his freedom. He has been at almost every funeral in the series, seeing so much death, and by the end of the series, I think he's the only one left.

6:38 is the saddest part! Look at Suleiman’s hands, how gently he is touching the coffin. Poor man, I am sobbing for him! It’s ten times harder to get widowed after almost 40 years together, having such a great love! 😞😭😥

My mother died at the end of March. My parents were married 50 years, together for 51. I see the same sadness on my father's face, no matter how much he tries to hide it for my and my sister's sake. So yes, I'd say it's incredibly hard, particularly when in Suleyman's case, Hurrem was to him what no woman had ever been to a sultan before; a wife. He defied all the rules, all the conventions, all the norms...for her.

He was the most powerful man in the world. The emperor who ruled continents and seas, but a 17 year old slave came into his life, and she managed to rule his heart. She broke all the barriers for women in the world at that time by breaking all the rules of the empire, she became his legal wife wich at that time was impossible, she became the reigning sultana of his reign, and she was more powerful than Valide Sultanas. She became THE WOMAN of his life in a mentality where women were just used. And in the end she died just how she wanted in his arms, listening to the poem he wrote for her. Thousands of ottomans, soldiers, smartest heads, family members bowed down to her coffin and payed their respect to the woman who put her bloodline on the throne for the next houndreds of years. From a slave to an immortal queen, Hurrem Sultan DEFINES what the power of a woman can do.

They made Nurbanu just unbearable character. The way she braggs of Defne and other women in the harem every time she has a possibility and in the same time gets mute out of fear in front of Hurrem or Mihrimah makes her the greatest coward in this show. Even Hatice had more dignity, as she was able to admit in front of Suleiman what she has done.
@ΧΡΗΣΤΟΣΑΜΑΝΑΤΙΔΗΣ-β7μ
@@nielubieinceli I agree on both aspects. Although I am to some degree sympathetic towards Hatice sultan (she reminds me a lot of my late mother) I wouldn't call her a particularly strong or brave character. However, she had the guts to admit what she has done and never disguise her opinions and feelings whenever confronted with a situation or an individual. Hurrem Sultan funeral scene is shot Magnificently in Suleymaniye Mosque! And very similar to her real funeral scene from History! ⬇️ “Funeral prayers were held at the mosque of Bayezid II, where prayers for Mehmed had been performed fifteen years earlier. It was the imperial mosque closest to the Old Palace, and it could accommodate a large number of mourners. Roxelana’s coffin was carried to the mosque on the shoulders of the viziers, the procession doubtless observed by throngs of onlookers. Residents of the Avrat Pazar neighborhood perhaps made the half-hour trek to pay their final respects to the patron who had brought them comfort. The chief mufti, Ebu Suud, a close friend of Suleyman’s old age, led the funeral prayers. The queen was interred in the cemetery enclosed by the walls of the Suleymaniye, where Ebu Suud buried her with his own hands. Soon an elegant tomb would rise to house her in death. Eight years later Suleyman would join his beloved for eternity in a nearby tomb of his own. In his travel memoir, Kutbeddin composed a kind of epitaph for Hürrem: “There are many charitable foundations and good works of hers in the Noble Sanctuaries and Jerusalem and other cities. Because she pleased the sultan, he married her and in this way the deceased finally achieved the status she held. She influenced the sultan to the degree, that the state of many affairs lay in her hands. She had many children, they are Selim, Bayezid, Mehmed, Abdullah, Cihangir, and the Lady Sultan.(Mihrimah) As long as their mother lived, these siblings got along well but after her death, discord arose among them. Her name was Hurrem Sultan. The sultan loved her to distraction and his heart has broken with her death.”

It is so heartbreaking to see Suleiman here - not being able to mourn properly at the funeral proceedings, controlling emotions because you're the king and have to lead the people and preside the entire event (after that scholar at 7:37 - pardon my ignorance, will appreciate if someone explains what is the role of the scholar here). Again as I had said, this show has some of the most talented actors and Suleiman's actor is a perfect cast. Another request once again to the MC admin - please provide subtitles for the MC behind the scenes documentary (the eight episode series) - I've seen the French / Spanish channel translating it (not sure on the language, but it popped on the recommendation feed titled El Sultan), so hope you provide us this delight. They are performing prayer ( moving head is called salam it's last step in prayer) and before that was " wadhu" to clean themselves before prayer. Cleanliness is important in our religion. Also sometimes series don't show it perfectly. You can watch some videos on this to better understand it more.

Oh lovers, DO not stand still Try to remove your burden Because when the body is no more Your heart will be free of this burden And fly to the skies Wash your heart and body in a river Full of wisdom Remove the dust from your heart, So your eyes are not stuck in this dirty world. Let them look to the skies. Does not love live in every soul? Everything but love is temporary. Everything withers away and dies. Only love is eternal in the world. Oh son of Adam Your absence is similar to east and your death is west. The east and west are different skies For the sky that you see now is mortal. It's also temporaly The path to the skies lies within you Spread the wings of love and fly When your wings of love are strong, Fear and sadness will be dispelled. DO not look at this world with your eyes because your eyes belong to a different world. But you have no idea about it. Close your eyes to this world and try to see the world inside your eyes... Know that when you close your eyes Nothing will remain of the world in which you lived. Your heart is like a roof. And your feelings resemble a gutter on this roof. When it runs out, drink water dripping straight from the roof. Read the remaing of this poem from the notebook of my heart... Do not heed my words The time will come when words will disappear and the lips that voice them... The human body is a bow. And his words and breath are arrows to this bow. When the arrows are released, the bow can't do anything Love is the Answer ❣️🎼💛⚛️☀️®️🔄🤵🏻👰🏻🌱🔑💓

Can someone please explain the ritual/movements that is happening between 7:50 and 8:40? Sorry, I’m not Muslim/Turkish. Thank you.

It's a prayer for the dead. It's not that you worship the dead or something, it's like a last respect to the dead. Something like that

It's called 'Namaz E Janaza'. It's a farewell prayer for dead and is offered before burial. It is believed that the more the people are in attendance to offer that prayer for a dead, the more sins of the dead are forgiven and it's mandatory to offer. Anyone regardless of age or relation can offer. It's a way of paying respect to your Muslim brother/sister and praying for their sins to be erased of.

@@spookymysteryx thank you so much for the explanation and name, I will look it up to learn more. I’m fascinated by Muslim prayer and the gestures depicted in this clip, it’s very beautiful and stoic. I was raised Catholic so only know that type of prayer. Thank you again 🙂
