“If you saw them walking down the street you wouldn’t think they were an athlete”. My friends played for Oregon O-line and then went to play in the NFL. They were the most freakish human beings I’ve ever seen. They were each 6’4 to 6’6”. Their necks were about a foot wide, their arms could touch me from across the room, and they could run faster than me. Their traps went right up to their ears. Like actually grizzly bear humans. It’s hard to explain until you’ve been in a room with them. You would absolutely think they were in some sort of strong man competition. Frankly being around them was scary. Even a playful shove from them was terrifying. I didn’t even feel like I was of the same species.
All of my best friends on the football team in high school were lineman, they were the most sarcastic ball breakers I knew. I just played safety and kicker which meant they were always giving me shit but I didn't care, they were hilarious
Soccer isn't a combat sport and guys are usually just looking for space. Football is a combat sport and most the team is usually trying g to create space. So yeah the banter in a nfl games is going to be completely different.
There is 7 officials in NFL game, R referee (white hat), U umpire, DJ down judge, LJ line judge, FJ field judge, SJ side judge and BJ back judge. They have specific assignment and positions on field.
I love these! There’s 🎤 all over the field & you’re able to hear shit talking even when a player isn’t wearing a mic. I don’t think the NBA has this, but wish they did! MLB should mic up the catcher & 1st baseman because they’re the ones that run their mouths!
The zone you’re speaking of where the offensive linemen and defensive linemen are face to face and where most of the physicality goes on is often referred to as “the trenches”
These linemen are crazy athletic. It is an absolute requirement that they weigh 300lbs or more and at least 6'2". these beasts also run sub 6 second 40 yard dashes while benching 225lbs 30 to 40 times in one set They are absolute freaks!
Defensive linemen are probably some of the best athletes in the world pound for pound. Offensive linemen not so much outside of Left Tackles. LT are usually great athletes.
You most definitely cannot be at any level of athleticism and play football professionally or even in college. Dont let the chub fool you, those are units and very light and agile.
In my experience, most skill position players always wanted to play sport and were freakishly athletic. Most lineman didn't even play football until later in life, and were recruited just because they were big by their gym teacher and football coach. Many of them don't even enjoy playing the sport, they were forced into it because of their size. The ones who are good, are the ones who enjoyed it from the beginning.
