Dude thanks for playing this, literally one of my favorite games of all time, the combat is so amazing, I think a lot of people shy away because it gives you no tutorial for the directional combat
if you like this game, you should try dark messiah of might and magic! its like jedi academy + skyrim. the physics engine alone is worth playing it for
Joov, id like to introduce you to some of the cooler lightsaber fighting teks. As you found on hoth, the roll+attack is a low stab. You can also crouch walk forward and swing, resulting in a quick and powerful uppercut swipe. You can backpedal and swing at an enemy behind you for a spinning slash that one hits most people. You can forward flip over an enemy and look down at them while you attack for a unique downwards aerial flipping attack. There is a wallrun, if you input forwards and toward/along a wall while forward jumping. There is a force speed jump after you get level 3 force powers, where if you run forward and use force speed at roughly the same time you jump, you will do this anime ass lean forward jump where the camera spins around you in slow mo. Some of these are tricky to pull off but they feel amazing. If you press, i think M in game you can pull up a menu which has an acrobatics? tab that teaches you tons of inputs fighting game style, and shows an animation of jaden doing them. I remember when i found this as a kid it blew my mind. May the force be with you my good man. Edit: you also dont need to scroll through powers on pc. You can go to the controls menu and map each force power to whatever hotkey you want.
I’m not one to comment on videos; this is my first time doing so; but I absolutely love this game, and am happy to see someone I watch play it. Not sure if you’re even going to see this Joov, but as someone who has played on Jedi Master difficulty relatively recently, I’d suggest using the roll attack once you’re up against the stronger force users as force abilities don’t work well against them and that attack does a lot of damage. Also, the dark side path, though much more fun in my opinion, is a bit of a nightmare on this difficulty. If you choose to do it, be ready for Kyle Katarn to brutally murder you repeatedly with the same contextually-ridiculous lines as you try to whittle down his massive, constantly healing health bar.
I deeply understand the experience of playing an old childhood favourite and uttering "I hate the fucking game" at least once during play. This was a pleasure to watch.
1:28:15 JOOV the sith guy didn’t use force push, you force pulled the mine into yourself!! I had to watch it back in slowmo to see what happened, but it flies towards you right as your character does a little pull animation with her hand, and the sith guy is just walking, no push animation. Also, the moments afterward where you stare in disbelief were deeply horrifying when viewed at 0.25x speed. The sounds and the length of time that everything is sat still was unsettling LOL 😂❤️
This is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time. I would kill for a decent remake. Edit: This is perhaps the hardest to watch Joov stream of all time
lost katarn gained cal kestis Edit: There is a multiplayer server mod called movie battles i think and the mechanics are changed up to realistic levels and purely based on player input. Large learning curve, but bounty hunters wreck jedi and sith alike in the hands of a pro.
Outcast and Academy were AWESOME. Especially for the release years. As always, the DF & JK games (LucasArts, R.I.P.) were pushing the envelope on what was possible, what could work, and what was on the horizon.
I think you were spot on with some stuff in the game being tied to framerate. Level 3 force lightning is bot supposed to be a half second dump. Like yes it uses force power quickly, but youre supposed to be able to hold if for at least a couple seconds. Instead, it looks like the game is dumping the entire force lightning instantly, making it just an instant death beam fkr anyone in your view, making it even more Aop athan it is normally.
Childhood favorite game inbound with this video, Jesus the nostalgia. I was prepared to abandon Star Wars due to all the hatred and drama then my friends made me play a match of BF2 2005 with them on the original PC version…. Let’s just say I ended the night saying, “THEY CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!!!” We then played for the next three days straight 😂
Joov be crazy with the cr1tikal role play lol. First the Skyrim thumbnail, then the green screen, next thing he’s gonna have long hair and fighting with his twitch chat lmao
Force Heal would've been a better first power than lightning. Lighting is basically useless unless you have it maxed out on any difficulty higher than jedi at most. While heal, let's you heal. Each level adding about 10 points (I think) to its heal per tick. 5/15/25 (The second level may be 10, i don't remember) but since your max health is 50 on Master difficulty and heal packs are so infrequent, I'd say it'd be your best choice. Edit Later into the VOD: Force lightning isn't supposed to 1-tap enemies or send them flying that far, in fact, most of the things you're doing shouldn't be as effective as they are. In the case of the Lightning, I'd say removing the frame cap essentially removes the I-Frames from getting hit by anything which allows a massive amount of damage and knockback to be applied at least 2x as fast. As if I remember correctly this game originally ran at 30fps so even at 60 you're still essentially doing (and potentially receiving) 2x as much as intended.
I just realized this is the first game I ever played with character customization, and I played a twi’lek female as well, because she’s hot… which started a pattern of me always playing as female characters.
Kyle Katarn is hands down the best Jedi, pisses me off that they didn't make him canon. Also, why aren't you playing Skyrim? Father Howard will be very dissapointed.
Joov, I'm getting real fed up with you killing innocent creatures/pets/droids/etc. Is there something you want to talk about? Do you have any pent up aggression you want to deal with?
you haven't seen an annoying backseat gaming protagonist until you played Horizon Forbifdden West. it is completely and absolutely ruining that game...
