If Fernando continues like that he'll leave a solid legacy behind in AMR, helping the team, bagging podiums, developing the car together, helping Lance. Looks like he's found a new home this season. Also, nice to see Checo channeling his inner Nico this season.
@@RedRingOfDead worse because even in the worst years of Merc dominance 2014-2016, there were 2 monster drivers at Merc so we had a title battle to the last race. Perez just doesn't have it to challenge verstappen
The Leclerc fanboy arc gets really old. He doesn't act like a real fan. I think it would be good if he stopped the bad acting and just became normal again
@@Daniboi971 although it is RB domination rn, it’s less because they nailed the regulations & more like Ferrari & Merc dropped the ball. And thankfully the gap to the 2nd fastest car isn’t as huge as it was during early Merc domination
It seems like it's always that way until another team catches up to the top team. Then the second they do, they change the regulations and we start all over. Imagine if the cars had the same regulations as when Max won his first championship. Imagine Red and Merc coming back with the same car and George in the Merc? But nope, new regulations, one team figures it out and everyone else plays catch up, until they figure it out and then change the regs again.
Out of 18', I think 4' were memes and the rest Matt just talking non stop. If the memes were good, there wouldn't be a necessity for Matt to explain/comment on them so much for so long.
I feel like we're forgetting that Stroll helped Alonso by telling him that he can focus on going fast and won't have to worry about Lance attacking him early in the race.
I think it's getting a bit too much. All the talking about jinxing the race. It was fun, but now it's almost like matt is actually believing in his "powers"
I almost had a heart attack when I heard the terror in Ted Kravitz’s voice. I expected them to cut to that Alpine just blasting through a crowd of people.
Aston Martin are VERY VERY lucky this season Stroll hit Alonso in Bahrain Alonso fucked up his grid position in Saudi Alonso got spun and Stroll into the gravel only for the red flag to save them Stroll literally hits the WALL and continues like nothing happened We invested in 4-leaf clovers lmao
@F1gilles same dnfs but vettel retired from the lead in Valencia which benefited alonso and started from the back in Abu Dhabi which lost him an almost certain win he also had a failure in Spain q3 and all of his dnfs where due no fault of his own it’s not vettels fault alonso crashed in Japan which you count as bad luck
@@TheSpacemannspiff thought of this as well, but The Funniest Tweets is nearly the same format as Internets Best Reactions... So I think there is the possibility to do the same to Social Media Team Championship...
@@kuroneko9270 so THAT'S WHY it didn't work: he time-travel jinxed back to the RD team where Max and Daniel crashed. Should have bought the current merch for it to work XD
I believe he was more referring to doing something to make the race more interesting. So in this case, the team would be the viewers, not the Alpha Tauri team
alonso sounded so friendly over the team radio... seen lance almost hit the wall after applying alonsos brake balance, i was like 🤔 alonso wont do that 😂
hot take: I found the race quite enjoyable, as a Ferrari fan, the constant paranoia of will the engine blow up, is Charles or Carlos going to bin it, will Alonso or Hamilton overtake them, made the race quite tense and therefore quite entertaining.
Honestly me and my mates, when we watch the race all together, we make bets on when and what components will exit the chat, Ferrari "strategy" and/or Charles' luck strikes again. We find chuckles in pain at this point 😀
@@aat8345 Honestly, seeing Max and Checo both pushing like madmen and scrubbing the wall was quite spectacular for me. I had a feeling one of them might bin it around lap 40-45
I don't think I can remember seeing Checo being the one catching up to Max in a race, kind of wish we got to see if he could make a move stick on Max because he was rapid this weekend.
@@justadummy8076 Max seems to have screwed up his setup for this race. He was messing with the balance of his car for the most part of it, then found the right one in the last 10 laps or so (which is why he suddenly gained), but it was too late.
Being in the US, I wake up early for most of the races each year, so I’m naturally tired for most of them. Therefore, my body judges on its own if it’s exciting enough to stay awake for or not. Let’s just say this morning, I fell asleep maybe a lap and a half after the safety car came in, I woke up during the post race podium interviews, and I think the biggest change in the grid order is that Zhou dnf. Nap was worth it
If they break up who’s throwing shade first?? Is Alonso dropping her name in an interview and likening her to the 2015 Mclaren Or is she releasing a new track ?
What many people forget was Stroll's "Fernando, I will not attack" (so you can attack Hamilton instead) I genuinely think Alonso trying to give back the favor, because Stroll kept his word to not attack Alonso... But that setup didnt work for Stroll lol
I don’t understand why Alonso just liking stroll and being grateful for his family bringing him on their team isn’t enough? He’s obviously paid VERY well I’m sure… but Stroll seems like a good guy just trying to do his best and Alonso seems to see the best in him and want to help anyway he can. It’s refreshing such an interesting dynamic. Best team this year by far
People also seem to forget that the Strolls have known Fernando for years. Like Lawrence and Fernando have been friends for years and Fernando saw Lance grow up and win championships when he was younger. Add to that the fact that Lance genuinely is a nice guy and highly appreciates Fernando (respects him) I truly think they are for now both just trying to get that P2 for the team considering that's the best they can do.
There is something really wholesome to it. Did you see how he moved over to the left to give Lance a tow after the restart to help him fight off a McLaren?
@@suckieduckie I actually didn't but it doesn't surprise me. I truly believe by working together they will get Aston to the top. Considering how much respect there is between them and how well the team seems to be under Krack, I am positive in their future.
Fernando just gets a bad rep cos he either has a bad teammate relationship or a bad team relationship, with AMR he has none of those problems, so idk why everyone is expecting salty Alonso to reappear. He’s clearly the 1st driver at AMR, and the AMR team has been overperforming since the Force India days, it’s a match made in heaven.
Esteban and Fernando also had a nice relationship at the start, and honestly I Esteban did more to erode than relationship that Fernando ever did, so it's not like Fernando hates every teammate he has tbh
I love when the "villains" are the most supportive teammates. Max & Fernando were extremely adorable on Sunday. Best teammates on the grid. RBR & Aston have great things going.
Here me out... Friday: FP1 & 2. Saturday: Normal Qualifying then Reverse Grid Sprint worth fewer points, just a race, no impact on GP grid. Sunday: GP (grid order set by Saturday Qualifying). You have an incentive for teams to qualify normally but also give lower ranked teams an opportunity to fight for points in the reverse grid sprint.
Hear me out Friday: P1 and Qualifying Saturday: P2 and reverse grid sprint Sunday: Race This way we get an interesting event each day, drivers will still push in qualifying because it sets the race order and the sprints will be interesting
@betaich it's not the best from a sport standpoint I'd agree but F1 is sadly pushing for more entertainment over pure motor racing. Also cause the qualifying sets the order for the race there's slightly more incentive for going for riskier overtakes
I would reverse only the first 8 drivers. So that P1 of the Sprint Shootout starts from P8. Would for sure bring some action and there wouldn't be any drivers not setting a lap in SQ3 in order to take pole for the sprint because you need to get P8 for starting position 1
I was thinking about searching for this video.. And when I was looking up the P1 channel I realized that for a good amount of time I didn't even remember the "old" channels name. :)) I guess you guys are doing a good job here!
Fernando is this good to Lance because he knows Lance will never be anywhere near as good as him and keeping him and his Dad in his good books will mean he gets to keep driving this podium capable car.
Had the exact same reaction to Red Bull's DRS advantage. I'm all for it, but that was genuinely the first time I'd ever said to myself, 'we can do without that.'
I didn’t watch a single session live. I usually wake up early and watch, but a stand alone Saturday and a 7am race that I knew would be boring just wasn’t it

It’s clear the teams need more than a one hour practice session. It should be Friday: FP1, Sprint (quali and race) Saturday: FP2 and quali Sunday: race.
This type of race is exactly why I don’t wake up early for live race, I always watch a few hours alter so I can speed through 2/3rd of race, and I’m a fan !
Solution for Sprint weekends: Friday: - FP1 (1 hour) - FP2 (1 hour) Saturday: - Qualifying (as normal) - 15 minute break - Reverse grid Sprint Race (points 1st-8th as currently. 1x soft, medium & hard tyres each to choose from allocated just for the sprint, Parc Firmé rules relaxed on car setup, though not parts) Sunday: - Grand Prix (grid from Qualifying as normal) Justification: - This would incentivise all runners to push as hard as possible on the Sprint race, without messing up their tyre choices for the other sessions. - It would also make Sprint races sufficiently different that you wouldn't just be getting the first stint of the Grand Prix like we are currently. - It would also give the lower places teams a real chance at fighting for points and give them a chance to show off their racing skills against the top drivers who would be fighting though the field but having to balance their desire for a few more points with their desire not to break the car for the next day. - While reverse grids have the potential to feel artificial, keeping the points as low as they are, plus only doing it in a Sprint and only 6 times a year max that keeps it very much secondary to the main event.
Honestly anyone who watched De Vries' junior career saw this mediocre form coming. Dude wasn't bad but he only won the title when he did because he'd been kicking around for a couple of years and an unprecedented amount of better F2 drivers were promoted to F1 in short order and the reigning GP3 champion was tragically killed. (In fact his title rival the year he won was Latifi.) His FE success is partially down to the talent pool being slightly weaker (though it's not bad at all) and it's entirely possible that those slower, less grippy cars with limited braking capacity just suit his strengths and weaknesses better. His result at Monza was legitimately a good one but it 100% flattered to deceive as his only benchmark was once again Latifi.
I have to disagree on the DRS= better racing thing. Overtakes on a straight have become so boring, i would any day prefer less overtakes but more intelligent ones, where drivers have to try out different trajectoties and fight wheel to wheel.
If IndyCar would ditch commercials, I'd make the full switch too. All the races have had me on the edge of my seat this year. Meanwhile, all the F1 races have lulled me into a nap
