Out of all the metic units of measurement cm is definitely the most commonly used in the US. As a STEM major in the US we rarely ever use imperial measurements and if we do it’s immediately converted in to metric lol
"Ash Ketchum or whoever he is" Ah yes, the classic move of getting the name right and then pretending you don't know who he is ;) It's ok matt, your entire audience *grew up catching em all. You don't have to be afraid
Watch back Perez' onboards, he wasn't made a guinea pig. He banged the wall, picked up a puncture and asked for the full wet tyres himself (after being told earlier that lap that they'd had the worst of the rain).
We also must add: this monaco gp broadcast was finally controlled by F1 media group( i forgot the name), and the quality was waaaay better than before. (If you did not know: the broadcast before this year was controlled by a local channel)
Especially considering how many people went off and had to reverse or turn around and that Russel collision could have been much worse. A lot of banging and scraping and still most got through it.
The reason for this is imho the slow speed. They basically ran 50-70% of what the cars are capable of. In rain even way slower. So the impacts are also way slower. But yeah, I was surprised nonetheless.
I think a lot of people don't take into account the ENORMOUS amount of fucking adrenaline you produce when you accomplish something like that. Ocon put that fucking Alpine in a place it had no right to be and drove a brilliant, clean race around one of the sketchiest tracks in some sketchy ass conditions and got a mega result. Most normies have no idea what that feels like and just can not possibly relate in their safe little bubbles. I was absolutely happy for the man and totally got the reactions.
Red Bull didn't make Perez a guinea pig for the full wets. Perez had to come in anyways with nose wing damage and a possible puncture after hitting the wall (and Russel just before that) and requested the full wets himself
@@nielsleenknegt5839 true, though also can't really be compared since compounds vary drastically even between races. And to be fair to Max, tire wear seemed pretty significant this time around for most of the grid. Also I hope you are holding up mate, Saturday was pure and utter pain
Max was an absolute beast both in Q3 and in the race…pushing those old mediums through the rain, the car begins to get loose…he pulls it back in with excellent car control. Say what you want about one dude always winning, but we are watching a Champion in his Prime, and we need to appreciate. …also love Alonso and Verstappen’s friendship…they each recognize themselves in the other.
Think it shows how good of a ‘product’ this is that we all get a bit annoyed that we couldn’t get this on the race evening. Of course we should grow up and be patient but it shows how fantastic Matt and Tommy are. Thank you for all things we appreciate and the things we sometimes forget to appreciate too
I'd argue Perez had an even worse race than Stroll. At least they said there was damage to Stroll's car during Q2, and then he didn't really crash into others in the race. Whereas Perez, binned it by himself in qualy, and then crashing into others in the race.
Let's all be real here: Estie Bestie is fully aware that he's not going to end up on the podium a huge number of times in his career so i don't blame him for celebrating every single second he gets on the podium like its gonna be his last...
Nando and Max BOTH lapped their teammates twice... fucking TWICE! Max was about to do it a third time. Now someone please tell me how their teammates are even close to competing with either of these Mega-Chads! lol
Monaco as a time trial track is amazing, its technical and challenging and fun to drive. Monaco as a race track in modern F1 cars is a harrowing nerve shredding hot mess where any mistake might kill you and three other people...
I'm glad that you guys recognize that you are an absolute staple in my grand prix weekend. I usually watch the race later on a delay but it's always followed by Will Buxton's post race show and Matt and Tommy's tweets. It's tradition and and it gently eases me into the depression that the race weekend is over.
After all the fuck-ups he made that weekend, including showing the RB19 floor, I think that's the least he could do at that point in the race, and if he refused that then I'd hoped they would Danny Ric in that Red Bull come Barcelona.
I’ve been to only one race which was Monaco 2022 and I have to say not just the race itself but the entire week/weekend was one of the greatest experiences of my life
Esteban is relatable also because he's not the son of a millionaire or billionaire, like Gasly actually. Not like Stroll or Norris. Esteban had a fantastic race. And great great quali session. If the Alpine gets 3-4 tenths quicker, I'm sure both drivers will impress everyone.
I absolutely love F1FT some of the memes are just top quality and legitimately my race weekend is not finished until I’ve watched this 👌 Great content and seeing your growth and opportunities is incredible 💪
Pressed like even before watching the video. I´m from Brazil, found your channel and now is one of the first things I watch after the race. And go Max, Tommy!!
Kinda hilarious how the recently celebrated "king of the streets" didn't get past P16 while Verstappen, from the same starting position, managed to finish P9 a few years ago.
I've got a good indicator of how interesting a race is : my dad. If he falls asleep, the race is boring. He fell asleep after drivers pitted the 1st time, to wake up when the rain started.
As an Alonso since I was born, the podiums he's getting this year are starting to feel "normal". I need an Alosno P1 so bad, If he'd pitted for inters he would have won... it was so close it feels like a bitter P2 for me.
I don't really see the logic in chaiming that Nando would have won if he pitted straight for inters. He was like 8 sec behind when he pitted for mediums. If he took inters on that stop instead, he would still come out 8 sec behind Max. Maybe a bit less if the inters were already faster at that point, but there's no way he could have undercut Max by 8 seconds in just one lap. After that, his only chance would have been to put pressure on Max to force a mistake, which is not very likely.
10:50 Alonso himself said that even if he went on Inters immediately Max would have won. He said he knows full well that Max was just playing on the Mediums saving them and could have pushed twice as hard.
It makes total sense that Ocon was a bit different at the podium. It’s not as if he’s regularly there. I don’t know if race drivers learn all the ceremony stuff unless they’re up there.
I literally watched the first few laps and fell asleep( in the US, it was earlyish) and woke up about lap 45 and was blessed with carnage shortly after.
