Thanks for sharing! As for the nose, cold and slime great for waking up the heaviest of sleepers when strategically placed on said sleeper's mouth. (At 2am.)

I've watched all of your videos in preparation for getting my first greyhound, and that day is finally SO near. I pick up Honey on Sunday. She's 7 hours away, but for a greyhound, I would have flown to Australia. SO excited! Quick question...after the settling in with my cat has gone well, will it be OK to get the cat small mouse toys out again, or will Honey want to eat/swallow/choke on the wee mousies? My elderly 3 legged cat won't miss them terribly, but if they're not dangerous to Honey, then I'd like to let the cat have them back later. (Honey has cat experience.) Thank you for all the great advice I've already received from you!

My first greyhound ❤️ed to play with real fur mouse toys, but my others had no interest in them. Maybe show Honey (I❤️ her name) the mouse and see how she reacts? She’ll let you know. Also, remember that some greys are ok indoors with a cat, but completely different outdoors. I’m on the road, after dropping Mary off at college...12 hours😥

@@GreyhoundHomecare thank you for your time. My worry was that she might try to swallow the small toys.

Yes, she might. We used to buy the toy mice for Peaches. They were the size of a hamster. We would give her one, and she’d have a delightful few minutes ripping it apart, before we cleared away the pieces. I’ve seen smaller ones that I would not have put in her reach. Good luck, Victoria; keep me posted!

Very cute video. Here is a question for you. At what age do you think it's ok to neuter your male pup? I get such a wide range of advice on this topic.

Sorry about the delay... This is a hard question for greys - They "right" age is usually when they are done racing...but for one who becomes a pet early in life, you wouldn't want to wait years. The standard advice is to wait for a dog to be fully grown. Cautiously, I'd say 18 months. More important is to make sure that your vet is fully aware of the dangers of anesthesia to greyhounds. If your vet is experienced with greys, that would be best. Here's a bit from Greyhounds of Ohio: "Greyhounds are a breed which have been noted to develop malignant hyperthermia (MH). . This condition is very rare and as your Greyhound most likely arrived to you already spayed or neutered, this is unlikely to be a concern. MH is a genetic condition which should result in the same reaction to inhalant anesthesia every time. Therefore if a dog has had a previous anesthesia without incident, MH should not be a factor. Some Greyhounds can spike very high temperatures in recovery from muscle fasciculations but this is not MH. MH is most commonly a reaction to gas anesthesia and is over-diagnosed in the breed (if your dog recovers from a high temperature without treatment with a drug called Dantrolene, it was most likely not MH)."
