@@davidmorefield That's true, but there are already other excellent solutions for streaming live from the camera to a broadcaster that are compatible with the URSA G2.

How do you use it for Live Events? Can you upload, edit and broadcast (for example in RU-vid Live) live?

@@PedroDeltellColomer Please forgive me if I have misunderstood your question. Full live streaming is a slightly different thing. I believe the camera can be configured to send a live stream over a network. The feature we are demonstrating is for quick-turn-around edits, rather than live mixing. If you want to edit and stream live, you'd probably be interested in Blackmagic's ATEM mixers.

@@PedroDeltellColomer We are not using the URSA for Live Events but we do use the BMD Cloud for fast turn around. We will record in ProRes 422 HQ but also produced a ProRes 422 Proxy. There are natural break points in most of our events where we can stop the cameras in turn to allow the Proxy Files to finish. Those proxies can then be uploaded to BMD Cloud and the edit can begin on the first portion of the event, usually for a 2-3 hour event we have at least a 1/3 of the event edited by the end. Once it ends all the proxies are uploaded and the edit can continue whilst the breakdown of kit is on going, but more importantly the edit can be done remote from the event. The cameras originals are then either uploaded at a point afterwards or the USB Drives, after backing up, are dropped off with the editor. For an event that runs from say 7PM till 10PM we are usually able to get the edited video out either a few hours after the event if it is a priority or more normally by mid morning the next day. All of this was able to be done before BMD Cloud, but BMD Cloud has just made the workflow so much simpler and quicker. The BMD Camera App + Apple Log is also making us seriously reconsider what equipment we use.

I use already ATEM Mixers, thanks, work great. I was asking @PeterDrage about how he uses BMD Cloud for Live Event as he comments... I am not aware that it's possible.@@team2films

Hey, what USB-C hub do you use? My i-tec doesn't work with powerbank for the Iphone setup, only SSD disc and audio works.

@@Bjornislaw I am using this one Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1) Typically on usb-c hubs, you will need to find one that has a Power Delivery port, usually labeled as "PD" on the hub. The hub I mentioned above lists the following 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a 100W PD-IN port. So, the 100W PD-IN port lets me connect power to the system. I can then consume the power using any of the other ports, so it will charge my phone and power the monitor, etc.

I have also used this one, and this one also worked, although I didn't like the form factor USB C Hub for MacBook Pro (7 in 2) This one has 2 USB-A 3.0 ports 2 USB-C ports, an HDMI, and both sizes of SD card readers. It has two plugs on the other side, but one of them can retract. It can be a bit tricky to work with, but I did get all of them to work, it was just too big and bulky to fit in a cage, so I switched to the other one.

Yes there is! This is exactly what Blackmagic Cloud is for. It will keep your media and projects synchronised between your Mac and iPad. It's really fantastic. We'll be producing workflow videos on this too.

@@team2films Thanks for the reply. I will have a play around with it. Presumably I can sync the projects up then with just linking the project library up with the BlackMagic cloud? I can then rather than storing the footage on the cloud I can relink it to an external SSD containing the shots? Can if not using the cloud is it possible to backup the project library to a SSD and then open that project library on the iPad as I do not seem to be able to do that? It does seem to want to know about the backup.

This feature has only been launched on the URSA G2 thus far. I'm sure it will come to more Blackmagic cameras soon. I'm sure this is just the beginning. Yes, as you mentioned the USB port will be used for the internet connection, so you would most likely have to use cards in the internal slot. It's an amazing feature and hopefully you will feel like that is a small price to pay to be able to use it. I'm not sure if the camera will allow you to use a hub to share the usb port between a card and internet connection. Could be worth testing.

You can connect network adapters via the USB C port too. The opens up the possibility to connect it to wired and wireless networks.

I hope BMCC6K support comes soon too. Dropbox is a great idea... but it's worth considering: firstly, how much cheaper blackmagic cloud is, and secondly the added functionality it brings by syncing directly to Resolve.

Why the hell would they not roll this out for all of their cameras? And even as a service for other cameras. I would switch to DaVinci resolve just for this feature if I could plug my FX3 cameras into a phone and have a team editing it while I'm shooting it​@@team2films

@@TacticalTopher I'm sure they will roll it out to other Blackmagic cameras in time. But remember this is just a beta, and the URSA G2 Broadcast is already the second camera to receive this feature. As regards integrating it into Sony cameras, that's as much a question for Blackmagic as it is for Sony. Generating proxies in camera and accepting a network connection requires specific hardware that not all camera's will have internally. It will be exciting to see where this feature goes from here.
