It depends. Subscriptions that hold your files for a monthly ransom are evil. But nothing in this world free. A big studio might like to have a known cap on their asset expenses. A low-budget pre-famous filmmaker like myself might prefer a more pay-as-you-go approach.
@@stivosaurus Exactly! That's one of the reason we're excited about the way we set up the new subscription - it's not your traditional subscription model. Once you download an asset, it's yours forever, even if you cancel your subscription. We also tried to make the subscription flexible so lower-budget artists can still take advantage of it by subscribing to a lower-credit plan. Those credits can stack up over the course of a year and they can spend them as they wish.
Yes. Yes. YES! Thank you for listening! I’m so impressed with you and the team to take the time to interview the users and figure out how to best serve us that also makes sense for your company 🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻 so excited for this change! 🥳🥳🥳
@@tushars4345 @fabthefab75 It’s a new credit-to-product exchange. The updated system gives you access to a wider, higher-quality library, including exclusive assets. We understand it’s different, but the aim is to provide better value with enhanced content.
So excited to hear the credit system is back! Was disappointed when it went away as I like the option of being able to grab want you want when you need it most with credits that you have stacked up. Cant wait for all these new changes to happen. Thanks so much guys your amazing!!
Really impressed with you guys. Listening to your users and fixing how things are done to make them happy. Not many companies have the desire to do this and it makes me happy that you guys are. Thank you for caring
Thanks for the honest and thoughtful video. Great to see a company listening to the community. My only comment would be, why did you guys remove the affiliate program? It was a great opportunity to give back to the many content creators who have been supporting your products for a long time. I hope you can reconsider and bring it back. Anyway, that’s my opinion
The affiliate program was nothing short of irritating really - the amount of people I muted or unfollowed on social media because they'd become adverts for ActionVFX, sharing the same low-effort spiel. All us VFX folk are in the same circle, we follow each other, and I'd argue most of us already know about ActionVFX 😆
Hey Hugo! We know how important the affiliate program was for creators like you and others in the community. We hope to bring it back in the future, possibly in a new form that better aligns with our updated offerings.
@@pixel.catcher Well I'm afraid that some content creators do need financial support to run the channels. RU-vid pays very poorly, so we should all support anyone making free content online. I can live with some promotion on videos, as long as I know they are getting paid for it. Anyway, we all forget that most people on RU-vid don't earn anything!
@@HugosDesk Yes not specifically RU-vidrs, which of course we're used to seeing sponsors and affiliates from, I'm talking about non-"content creator" artists suddenly posting affiliate stuff on their socials
Being able to access the VBD stuff and 3D stuff via sub model would be first prize - Long term subscriber here! Keep going guys, you have my support always.
Running a business is hard and subscription services are not particularly loved by the creative community so it;s hard to balance things out. Your free offering's and your library of practice footage at least shows you care about your community but yeah a dozen different subscription levels is a pain in the butt. The two asset services I speak fondly of are you guys and production crate. I am a little confused ... for 60$ a month (single user ... les than 200K) on the indivdual plan I get 5 credits but that would only allow me to download 1 to 5 items per month (and the 1500 from the essentials catalogue)? I guess since the credits accumulate that makes SOME sense ... especially at that indie tier. You have no need for anything in the paid catalogue for 3 motnhs and you suddenly have 20 credits for that project that needs a bit more. I guess I would need to see what those credits allow me to purchase. Is it just ONE waterfall animation or is it the fuill pack? Things of that nature.
Our goal with the new subscription is to give you flexibility while ensuring you have access to the highest-quality assets. Whether you need a single item or a full pack, we want the credit system to work for your unique needs. The Essential Catalog is a significant feature of the new ActionVFX subscription model, designed to enhance the overall value for subscribers. This catalog includes over 1,500 assets, ranging from a variety of visual effects elements that can be used without consuming any of your monthly credits. We’re really eager to hear your thoughts once you’ve had a chance to explore the new setup. Your feedback is super valuable to us!
Sorry, you've made it worse for me, if my legacy subscription will be upgraded to the smallest individual plan. It's so bad to see more and more services like yours tend to ignore real hobbyists who are not making any money with their creative work. How should I afford 60$ per month for just one service (along to render assets, audio library,...)? You had a good tier when you started with
The new subscriptions are designed to offer more access to our expanding library, and while the cost is higher, you'll have access to more premium assets. @@ActionVFXofficial Check it out! I'm starting to get into compositing my 3D elements: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ErBc23AaJbE.html You'll notice the newbie work I've done with some of your excellent assets!
I'm really impressed about this. You really took the time and listened, not many people do that, especially today. Looking at you Disney (and many others). I love your work, keep up with it! (here's still hoping for zero-G explosions)
How is this an improvement? Now I only have access to 5 assets per month, and if I want 5 more, I’m expected to pay $75? For something as simple as a rainy and foggy scene, I’d likely end up spending over $100! The AVFX+ plan wasn’t great, but at least it offered a wide range of assets with the option to occasionally purchase extras if needed. Now, I’m being asked to pay more for fewer assets? This has to be one of the worst price-to-value systems I’ve ever seen. I most certainly won’t be buying a subscription, and I’m sure many indie artists will feel the same way.
The idea behind the new model is to provide access to a higher quality and broader selection of assets, which we hope adds value to your work. We understand that every credit counts, especially when budgets are tight, and we're committed to finding ways to support indie creators like you. We’re always listening to feedback, so thank you for sharing your thoughts.
@@ActionVFXofficial I get it, but the amount of credits they give is a complete joke compared to other subscription services. ProductionCrate, for instance, offers 50 downloads per day at a still lower cost. Kitbash also provides unlimited downloads of their models and still costs less. Being limited to 5 asset downloads a month is ridiculous-it's nowhere near enough to be usable. These companies understand the needs of their users, offering more generous access without breaking the bank. In contrast, this service's limitations make it hard to justify the subscription cost.
We appreciate your concerns so I wanted to give a little more of an in-depth response than we provided before. Hopefully this helps! For the vast majority of users, the credit-based system is going to be _far more affordable_ than purchasing a-la-carte. That may not be true for the user that purchases an asset once every few months, but it is true for those who regularly use our assets or use our assets in bursts throughout the year. As you know, we moved away from a credits-based model with AVFX+, but the overwhelming feedback we received was that users wanted rollover credits back. You mentioned the rain and fog scene as an example. Under our a-la-carte model, assets cost between $20 and $39 per asset. Under the credit-system, 80% of assets cost 1 credit and credits cost between $9 and $15 for individuals. Like before, discounts are offered for purchasing entire collections, so a collection with 50 assets may only cost 20 credits, for example. That results in pretty significant savings. For extra value, we also added in one of the strengths of AVFX+, so you'll get access to 1560 complementary assets that you can download without spending any credits. This model should provide far greater value for artists. The ability for credits to roll over and the fact that once you download an asset its yours forever, even if you cancel your subscription, makes this model far more affordable for the vast majority of our users. And I'm saying that as someone who generally dislikes a lot of subscription-based services! We firmly believe this change is the best for both our users and our third party contributors (the Legacy and AVFX+ models didn't allow us to fairly compensate our third party contributor artists). We understand that there may be user experience issues upfront - after all, we only released the new model less than 48 hours ago :) Please reach out to support@actionvfx.com if you have any other questions or concerns! We're here to listen and help. - David from ActionVFX
I have a legacy subscription and my card expired and i wanted to update my card but it said I couldnt instead i need to upgrade and i will lose all my 50+ legacy credit by December which was very disappointing cause i didnt understand why i couldnt just update my card info and keep my legacy cause thats all i could pay which is $15 monthly...i guess I'll download all my remaining assets and close it out in December
While there isn’t a specific compensation plan in place, we're focused on making sure the new offerings bring great value to you. We appreciate your understanding and are here to listen to any concerns you might have. For more support please contact our team: support@actionvfx.com
bro can you upload a video on how to make memes. for example when they put an object in someone's hand. It's like those memes that are viral that, for example, use objects from some video games and put them inside a video.
The new pricing system is way too pricey for individuals. 59 BUCKS for 5 credit. In the old system i paid 50$ for 15 credits. I understand that fewer credits are enough for a whole collection than the actual number of assets in that collection, but most of us just need one or two assets for a specific shot. 50$ for 10 credits would be okay i guess. 5$ for 1 credit seems more affordable and fair.
Every subscription tier gives you access to over 1,500 assets that you can download without using your credits. You can then spend your credits on specific assets or save them up for a collection of your choice. Plus, if you cancel your subscription, all the assets you’ve purchased with credits are yours to keep. The new model is designed to help you access more. We understand it may not be for everyone, but we hope this highlights the value you’ll receive.
@@laszloigaz1523 Could you clarify what you mean by your question about asset changes? To add a little context to what we mentioned before - we and our users loved the old Legacy subscription, and we're definitely not pretending this new model is less expensive than that subscription model. Honestly, however, the Legacy model was not sustainable for our business, and we couldn't fairly compensate our third party contributors. That's why we launched AVFX+, but AVFX+ really wasn't a hit since it didn't provide a high enough value for artists. Users helped us design this new subscription so that features like the Essentials Catalog and the low cost of credits compared to an a-la-carte model compensate for the higher cost by providing much higher value. Hope this helps!
oddly i lost access to all the old credit tierelements after subscribing to plus i also canot download anything any more cause its not showing the free plan as a option

As a loyal customer and a legacy account holder, I must say the new price points are not an "improvement" for me at all. That you are trying to spin this announcement into something positive is strange and disappointing. I understand the need to restructure the plans, but please listen to your user base and keep the prices at a more reasonable level.
I completely understand where you're coming from, and we appreciate your loyalty as a long-time customer. We know this change feels like a big shift, and we're not here to dismiss that. The goal of the new subscription model is to provide access to a wider, higher-quality library and more flexibility with the assets you choose. 1. Warra Joke; Essential Catalog = 5 3D assets and 1,555 basic 2D assets that you can get for free on the net. 2. 60 credits for $699 - a fog collection is 20 credits and any decent asset costs 2 credits i.e. 30 assets and your annual fee of £699 is finished. 3. Who were you listening to and what was he smoking? I'm out of ActionVfx; gents, there are better options out there.
The Essential Catalog includes a range of high-quality assets we’ve built ourselves, which go beyond what you’ll typically find for free online. With credits, the goal is to offer flexibility. You can pick and choose only what you need from a much larger library, rather than paying a one-off price for collections you may not fully use. Additionally, the assets are yours to keep even if you cancel. We know this shift isn't for everyone, but our focus is on delivering more value through a broader and continually expanding library. This isn't the end of us listening to user feedback, so any constructive feedback is more than welcome.
@@ActionVFXofficial "The bigger the lie, the more they believe"...this motto just doesn't cut it anymore, consumers are intelligent and they can do the math. Your free assets are pretty much easily available for free on the net, you are not going to convince me or anyone else with a nuanced, manipulative answer because we have been in this business for over 20 years. The bottom line is you are charging approx. $23 for a decent asset, hidden as a credit to make people get confused about how much they are spending? really?! Sack your marketing team, you should have just called it USD. I don't who you are targeting but most buyers are from companies and they will prefer an option to have access to a lot of assets for a flat fee, mine and most companies I know work like this. Let's see how long you will keep this charade going; "we made a mistake"...LOL..No, you made one now by attempting to go for a quick "cash grab".
Bummer, if this removes the one-at-a-time system that the companies I've worked for were able to use effectively, and especially for me personally when I do illustration work and only need one or two assets at a time. I guess this just goes the way of everything else until someone else provides that service again.
