I would think Islam is stronger force in the world than atheism. My evidence would be that Islam advances in the west as Christians become atheist. There is a desire within the human heart to believe in something bigger than ourselves. Atheist do not offer a compelling case for this.

I was a young earth creationist when I was in my early teens and when I realized how utterly full of crap that entire ideology is I became a pretty decided atheist that thought any thoughts of a God were utter nonsense. I spent almost all my 20's like this but I did not have some amazing power come over me. For me, it was investigation into science, specifically my field of physics, that made me have a harder and harder time not seeing clear direction and too much logic and convenience in the laws of nature to not be the product of will. It just is too incredible to be random. I have no emotional investment in this, I think though the moral, cultural and element of truth is too important not be dedicated to it. I go to church, I bring my kids to church, I try to teach them how to pray (even though I feel like nothing is listening inside), I try to be involved in my church and not just giving superficial lip service. I can't help thought hat I have real doubts, and that I feel like even if there is a creator it simply is not interested in us. When I pray I feel like nothing is there. But I KNOW that feelings can be deceiving and despite what I feel I also know what I know; and the evidence I cannot deny. I call myself a reluctant agnostic theist but practice Christianity because I want that sincere devotion for my children and I also figure I can fake it until it is real (or die trying).

I like how much you apologize. Leading people away from God is a huge burden the more you realize how desirable God is. If you never did content that reached thousands of people, and only spoke badly about God from time to time, then I'd say you got out of town with a scratch. Imagine being Dawkins or RR, having lead over 100k people away from God with a single video. Now each time you realize a new level of God's glory, you will also have to apologize for a new level of harm caused by leading others away from God. This will make the initial path to God very bothersome, while everyone else is free to finally be happy once they start their walk with God. It must feel very cursed to be in this condition. That's why I say atheists be smart, don't talk, don't make videos.

@@elsantoschalbi4459 yeah it has caused me a lot of guilt etc. I found it hard to start praying because of this. I wasn’t going to just go with the flow and say sorry. I wanted it t be real, heartfelt, genuine without any doubt from me. I pray a lot now and most of it is thanks now I see how things in my life have gone. I know I’ve never been and will never be good enough for heaven. That doesn’t mean I won’t try, but I also know of the huge sacrifice given for us from the LORD for our sins. May sound silly to those experienced but I know this is all new and a huge learning curve but better late than never.

The mocking and insulting behavior of atheists (like Dawkins and his internet followers), the intellectual vacuity of atheism (there is NO logical or rational argument for atheism), the psychological emptiness of atheism (psychological nihilism), the moral dysfunction of atheism (there are no rational grounds for normative morality in atheism), and the intellectual dishonesty of atheism (e.g., claiming to be a mere absence of belief, but substituting positive belief in materialism or naturalism or atheism itself, while being unable to defend those beliefs) turned me off to atheism over time. I am an ex-atheist, a philosophical theist, and a mere-Christian (cf. CS Lewis).

As an atheist, I genuinely sympathize with you. Theism is, by its very nature, an irrational position to hold.

Let me guess, you're either emotionally weak or suddenly found yourself in an emotionally weak position for reason or another and became so dumb and desperate that you believe anything at that point if you thought it would make you feel better. That's usually the common thread all these kinds of stories have.

We live very normal lives and don't stand out, get along with others, want what is best for our families and our countries and certainly don't care for ANY of this wokeness bs. There is a minority who have gone off the deep end and have some crazy views (and are vocal about them), however, we should not all be judged by this small subset (this also happens with many other groups of people, Christians, Muslims, etc have some crazy views as well that they want to push onto others).

How to get to heaven according to the Bible, is very simple. You don't get to heaven by doing good or being good, not by following the laws. Because we all fall short of God's glory, which is perfection, because of our sins, which we commit unintentionally or intentionally, so it is impossible to get to heaven by our own doing, therefore we need a Savior from sin. Even by baptism, you don't have to be baptized, it won't get you to heaven, but if you want, you can be baptized, it's more of a physical symbol. Salvation is only by faith alone, by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. There is no other way to get to heaven than through our Lord Jesus Christ, neither by yourself nor by other people. Only by believing in the gospel of Jesus Christ, our Lord, you will be saved. If someone denies Jesus as Son of God, the Messiah, then that person does not have God the Father. Believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. This is how you get saved and receive the free gift, the promise that God has given to those who believe in the gospel, the inheritance of eternal life. It's very simple. Believe that our Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins on the cross, for you, then he was buried and in three days later God the Father raised our Lord Jesus from the dead. This is the gospel, death, burial and resurrection, believe it and trust completely only in Him, our Lord Jesus Christ, and not in yourself or anyone else, and you will be saved and receive eternal life. Once saved, your spirit within you, which was dead, before you were saved, is born again, comes to life. Because when someone is not saved, their spirit is dead, but once you are saved by believing in the gospel, your spirit in your body will come to life, is born again. The new you, which is the inner born-again spirit, is fully cleansed by the blood of Jesus our Lord, and sealed by the Holy Spirit, hence your born again spirit is eternally secured, holy, sinless, which simply cannot sin and it will enter in heaven. While your old you, your physical body, which is and always will be corrupted, a sinner, and will always sin even after you got saved. You become two natures, they both, the old and new you, are still joined but at the same time fully separated and are always in conflict with each other, because your physical body is still alive on earth. The new you (born again, that's the spirit) and the old you (the first born, that's your physical body), the two natures. But your old you, your physical body, will die and decay on earth, while your new you, born again of the inner spirit, born of God, by believing in the Gospel, will enter heaven. Once you got saved, received eternal life. The eternal life is a free gift, a promise, given by God to those who believe in Gospel. No one can snatch you out of Son and Father's hand. There is literally nothing you can do on earth to lose your eternal life, once you believe in Gospel and get saved, nothing. Whatever sins you commit, unintentionally or intentionally, nothing, even if you unlive someone, nothing, once saved, always saved. For if that were to happen, then God would break His own promise to us, who believe in the Gospel, but God would never break His promise to us, first of all, God cannot lie, because He is holy, sinless, the truth, it's impossible for God to lie. The bigger the sins you commit, the bigger the punishment you will receive, while you are still alive on earth, even to point of cruel death, but at the end of the day, you will go in heaven, you simply cannot lose your eternal life. Doing good deeds only gets you gifts in heaven and blessings on earth, the less you do, the less you receive gifts in heaven and blessings on earth. Repentance/repent means a change of mind, it does not directly mean asking for forgiveness of sins or turn away from sins, but in literally meaning, it means "change of mind". When it comes to getting saved, repentance only happens once, because once a person understands the truth (the Gospel) and accepts it in their heart, at that very moment the person has committed a change of mind, a repentance, and believed in the Gospel, by faith alone. There are two justifications in the Bible. The first is, justified in the sight of God, the mankind cannot be justified in the sight of God by the works of the law, it is impossible, for we all fall short of the glory of God, because of sin, Hence the salvation comes only by being justified by faith alone, in the sight of God, by believing in the Gospel, and not by works of the law, not by good deeds. The second is, justified in the sight of mankind, men and women, not by God. Most people see good deeds as proof of a person's faith, but those who hardly do good deeds and commit only minor or mostly major sins, then the faith is dead, useless, unprofitable, in the sight of mankind, men and women, a bad image. When a saved person committs evil deeds, at first, the people, will doubt the person's faith or think that they are not saved at all, and therefore the faith is dead in their sight. But the person is literally saved, just weak. But what matters the most is that we are justified in sight of God, by faith alone.

Dawkins’ comment may have been insensitive but it was not inaccurate. Perhaps as her friend he knew he could speak to her rationally and not emotionally and she would be okay with it.

@@reydelmuerte That is philosophy, science began with Christianity. Yes we do owe much to the Greeks as philosophy is what validates science, but science is a uniquely Christian invention and its axiomic presuppositions explicitly depend on God.

I bring this up a lot to people. Most athiests were abused in religious homes and think that is what Christianity is. The problem is, many people are also abused in Athiest homes. It isn't the ideology there causing it. In Christianity it is forbidden to abuse people. But people have to logic through that, and that is hard to do when you have PTSD.

Without religion they would have found other reasons. There are countless atheists that led political movements that have caused even more harm.

The reason I ask for this is that I have had numerous discussions over the years with atheists who refuse these things, and as a result, we ended up having fruitless discussions. The Soviet Union was the first (maybe the second depending on what your opinions of the French Revolution are) nation to institutionalize atheism. This fits both of those criteria, so his statement is entirely relevant to the topic.

The POSITION of atheism hasn't any social or political impact on ANYTHING save the suspension of acknowledgment as to the reality of any particular god. A position is simply a state of affair. The position of atheism is the state of being _unconvinced_ that any particular god exists in reality. It is the state of suspension - to await any acknowledgment as to the truth of your claim that any god to be a reality UNTIL sufficient credible evidence is presented. This position had nothing to do with the national ideological, governmental, or authoritative approach of the former Soviet Union.
