For Canada to lead in the transition to electric vehicles, it’s essential that we have high quality charging infrastructure that is intelligently planned and well managed.
A massive increase in EV charger deployments will be required to meet the anticipated surge in sales of EVs as automakers roll out deliveries of their new electrified products.
The Canadian federal government has set a goal for the introduction of 50,000 more EV chargers by 2026 into the network of public chargers, a dramatic increase on the number available today and an enormous challenge for industry participants and stakeholders responsible for installing them.
In this panel discussion, we explore the answers to some key hurdles for EV charging infrastructure and what needs to be done to ensure it meets the needs of all EV drivers, such as:
• How do we scale Plug & Charge technology to make a more seamless charging experience;
• What can be done to minimize the detrimental impact of demand charges;
• How can accountability for reliability be monitored; and
• How should the three levels of government work together to coordinate efforts to build a reliable, national network of chargers?
