Same. The combination of Systems Thinking, Structuralism, and Socioeconomics has completely changed the way I think about and understand life... and I owe it all to both Peter and Jacque. It's been almost 10 years since they both graced my life and, because of them, I found a love for activism and education. Just last year, after years of teaching at traditional academic schools, I decided to start my own school that aligns to the entire TZM and TVP train of thought. My students and I just celebrated Peter's birthday on the 4th; I had them watch the Interreflections trailer and made it clear to them all that I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for PJ.

Have you also heard of Michael Tellinger with Ubuntu Contributionism and One Small Town strategy? Very along the lines of what Peter and those others talk about in going post-scarcity, localized and efficient, giving the power back to the people in the community, step by step. Very cool because it's a ready to go IT platform model that can be adapted to any town along with the cooperatives and collaborative projects that are already going on there, and just help support them even more.

When per capita you're the biggest releaser of C02, the home of climate change denial and the global hegemon then actually yes, America does have the ability to fuck up the world and has consistently done so (including two total economic collapses both resulting in Fascist uprisings). I don't like this fact. I don't like that Americans have their head up their arses a lot, but it's still a fact.

You're right. The US (and other world nations) do utilize capitalism to self wealth, to less developed nations promising stability and growth in a new world. The real objective is the open access to these country's cheap labor and resources without the costly invasion or war. So really, it is about humanity. Capitalism is anti-humanity with the US at the helm.

I live in switzerland and we have universal health care. Yes you have to pay for it, but if you can't pay you still have the right for health care. We also have student funding where the students pay back a fraction of it. This has nothing to do with socialism or communism or marxism or whatever. It's just a system that helps people who don't have the money for education and thus creates more fairness in society. I agree with peter that it is naiv to say that everyone gets what they work for. This is absolutely not the case. Compare switzerland to africa - Its also about luck and not "everybody gets what they earn". This is an oversimplified and false statement of people who don't know what privilege is i think and i live in a privileged society.

@robbyrish13
@robbyrish13 3 года назад
Due to the time constraint of this interview he didn't have enough time to go into depth about solutions, but I'd encourage you to check out solutions proposed by the zeitgeist movement to see the full scope of what he was alluding to here. Its a very comprehensive approach to organizing society and the cool thing is that it avoids being conflated with ideologies like socialism because it is simply a train of thought stemming from the idea of applying the scientific method to social concerns.
@Wilson84KS
@Wilson84KS 3 года назад
He got many solutions which fill the gaps Jacques Fresco didn't work out or not enough, the weak point of both is the point about the transition, where the solution, in my opinion, is the most logic one which needs to be done no matter if capitalism/monetary-/market-system will remain or if the world will completely change, I mean if I look into the world, especially now in this crisis, I see people that are completely done, burned out, physically and psychologically, they work without an end, holidays for a couple of weeks they spend with waiting till the horror of their everyday lives continues, in the same time there are billions of people that have no job, I'm not even talking about that they don't exist for the markets because they don't have enough or no money and so need to starve homeless between abandoned rotting houses and overfilled stores, but for me it is also very important to do my part for the society, except of some mentally ill people, no one feels comfortable with eating from a table they didn't fill or clean it up afterwards, and so it is pure logic to apply a basic income and share the work, I mean basic income is a must anyways if you want to share work, because then people wouldn't get enough money, but I think a basic income shouldn't be unconditional, I think this would ruin it all, like look and listen to the leftists, their dream is a world without work, they don't question the monetary system, all they want is having and doing all they want any time and someone else has to do the work, that's why there are even more libertarians in the Zeitgeist Movement than leftists, "there always will be some labor" is a nightmare of a sentence for leftists.
@TheKwod
@TheKwod 3 года назад
@@robbyrish13 yep, and to expand...we use peak science and engineering to replace the existing economic system and replace it with a machine and robot economy without money. The removal of money and budgets allows for the highest quality and performing parts and systems. The goal is to permanently end starvation, poverty and most crime, whilst also providing everything that everyone needs, and most of what they want.

Bruh my history teacher said that the news is only focusing on what happened at the front of the capitol and not in the far far back which he said was peaceful. Well the most the people in the back back was kick some grass and yell nasty stuff. And many interviews showed that they were gonna go into the capital to and they thought what was going on in the capital was good. They already went far enough to go beyond the point then they were aloud to, and also there were some police back a little further than the front of capital and they got beat up by the rioters. The reason why the people in the back weren't acting as violent as the ones who were in the capitol was because they never even got the chance to get in there. A majority in the back also WANTED to go into the capital and get to the Congress Members. So my teacher doesn't know what he is talking about.

The films are infotainment propaganda. If Fox news and Ancient Aliens had a baby his films would be it. They aren't serious documentaries. As long as you realize that going in they're fine. They're fun to watch if your in that kind of mood but like Fox or MSNBC people think his docs are serious news when really they're just one long editorial. Wonderful interview, have been a huge fan of Zeitgeist trilogy for several years now and try and share it with anyone who will listen. The extremely blind world view and unrealized utter confusion about a great many things in general most Americans seem to have unfortunately doesn’t seem to be the best place to do this but I think what must happen to really facilitate a substantial movement in the direction you are talking about and advocate for is somewhere on earth a good real sizable(possibly few hundred thousand people or more)working example or prototype of those concepts so that people can actually see the benefits of that type resource based society first hand. The transition from one to the other is ultimately going to require some monetary investment in the beginning at the very least because that is under the current system what gets things done however inefficient they may be what this means is that some of those with great wealth will have to be convinced and agree to invest in the movement the only problem clearly is that in essence they would be investing that wealth to eventually eliminate that they enjoy that wealthy status in society and why would they do this and who would be willing to do it? My knowledge is very limited when it comes to how one would go about colonizing another planet but I what little I do think I understand the conceptual model of resource based society is one that in many ways could fit easily into how societal structure would be most efficient and best structured for such a colonization and if this is so then I would think Elon Musk would have interest in helping to create the model on earth in my opinion that is necessary to spark real change as a prototype for societal structure for his dream of Mars human colonization someday. It’s seems a bit obvious so it’s quite possible this idea has already been proposed or discussed but because I have not specifically heard of any thing along these lines I thought I might suggest some type of effort in collaboration of Mr. Joseph’s(and/or the Venus Project’s)ideas and Mr. Musks monetary resources and also his dreams regarding Mars…

He says he’s a capitalist, but he’s philosophizing away in a way that reminds me of Karl Marx. Vertical farming is an amazing concept, but it’s gonna take decades to make that transition. Meanwhile, climate change is gonna kick in and it’s gonna hit the lower and middle class hard. Much food is being imported - in fact, most products that we buy are mostly produced very far away. We are extremely addicted to oil in a similar way a heroin addict is addicted to a chemical that will ultimately kill him. We know this is gonna happen and we can fantasize away, but the transition toward a more sustainable world is probably gonna get very ugly unless we get real about the climate calamity real soon.

Funny I was just thinking the other day, where is Peter Joseph? I think it could be argued that there is a line that can be drawn starting from the first Zeitgeist documentary and ending at the trump presidency, qanon, and current situation.

I agree with his opinion on inequality 1000%. Inequality is the root cause of nearly all of our problems. It's just that right wingers often misattribute the cause of their anger to Mexicans, Democrats, Communism, feminists, atheists, government or whatever.

Wonderfully intelligent discussion. It’s so much more productive than the impotent outrage that’s been regurgitated ever since the domestic terrorist attack on the Capitol. Just a reminder however to people who make their living talking: It’s familiar not fermiliar; It’s February not Febuary and its realtor not relator.

Hahaha! Reminds me of how Joe Rogan pointed out the absence of "um" when he spoke. After around 10 years, listening to Peter is therapeutic to me, especially as my life experience continually confirms his entire train of thought.

He always does it when he gets carried away from the relevant things, like talking about history, I think honesty is very important to him and since history is also just a belief, which we may be able to explain rationally, but still don't know for a fact, because we simply didn't live back then, and so when he talks about things he doesn't know for a fact, he does "um", but aslong he is talking about now, about given facts, then he can speak like a waterfall.

6:54 crime: we determine what is a crime and what isn’t...Portugal decriminalized all drugs. Oregon just did the same. Canada legalized cannabis. The Netherlands, Germany and New Zealand has either decriminalized or legalized prostitution. We here in the United States need to end the criminalization of drugs and prostitution.

While it can be viewed as campy hyperbole from the middle of the last century, Fredrick Pohl's speculative short story "The Midas Plague" is worth a mention here in reference to societal abundance and automation. It's a quick read. [Oh, that's right; RU-vidrs prefer not to read. 😄 ]

Economic equality. . . how? That isn't something you can GIVE. My experience has been that there are many people who simply have no interest in bettering themselves or their family. They are raised to have no ambition other than to work a dead end job and suffer through the week in order to drink or drug their weekends away, then look for someone to blame for their situation. They have no interest in education; educating themselves in order to qualify for higher paying jobs/careers. I don't believe it has as much to do with oppression as with lack of drive, curiosity, interest in working to better their lot. I was raised poor in the south. I never once thought I was oppressed. I wanted to succeed and I did so. I went to college (working full time and on scholarships and loans, no one provided the funds), became employable and employed. I eventually had a career in aerospace. I do agree that some have circumstances that put more pressure on them, but I don't believe you can excuse what happened at our capitol as 'economic oppression'.
