One of the thing that so impresses me about Peter Joseph is his ability to articulate facts and statistics so clearly ,guiding his listener(or reader) to see things in the broad view, to then find themselves glimpsing the connectivity of the issue's roots. He does this not only with facts and reason but with a obvious care and compassion for the masses suffering the consequences of this very flawed system structure we are currently stuck in. The New Human Rights Movement is a great book!

Put a hundred of today's smartest politicians together to have them share their finest thoughts, and they still wouldn't approach this man's insights and analytical capacity by the slightest fraction. Perspectives definitely worth absorbing, and so much needed by a confused and clueless socio-culturally indoctrinated human enterprise.

Zevixx I could not source like half the quotes in the third part of the first movie anywhere except from Jewish conspiracy sites. One of the people he quotes in the movie, Louis McFadden, was a major anti-semite who blamed the jews for everything and even supported the anti-semetic policies of Nazi Germany. When he ran for president in 1936, one of his campaign slogans was "Christianity instead of Judaism"

Been following the idea put forth by Jacque Fresco and Peter Joseph since 2007. As a gramma, the idea of a Natural Law Resource Based Economy is the only win/win i've found for the earth, it's resources and all inhabitants. We may have cracked the cocoon in the 60's but you kids can become the butterfly! We can make manifest the lyrics to John Lennon's "imagine." keep this idea alive and continue moving forward. Time to say "take this job and shove it" Time to create a better future for future generations. Love, Peace and RBE hugs, Gramma D "^_^"

I am generally a supporter of Peter Joseph and TZM, but as someone who has studied the food issue intensively, I feel the need to point out that vertical farms are not a panacea to the food security issue. They are only capable of growing vegetables, and not the bulk of the diet - grains and meat. They may be able to grow fish, but definitely not grains. They also take a lot of energy - light, pumps, climate control - to produce the food, so while they may save the transport energy, they may make up that energy in the actual production. Meanwhile, we have plenty of peri-urban land around cities, which could be fitted with greenhouses for year-round production. Furthermore, the energy costs of producing things like tomatoes year round in canada, compared to simply shipping them in from Texas or mexico, may negate the benefit, and in some cases can be worse. So overall, there are definitely benefits to local production, but it is not a a tautology that local production is always better. You have to look at all the nuances of the system to understand what is the best approach for any one particular item.

At 6:48 In dispelling the myths about Communism: Stalin''s Communism was in fact State Capitalism...all they did was take the businesses from the owners and place government officials in their place. There was no transfer of control over production of goods or services to the workers. Richard D. Wolff can elaborate about that fact, as well as all about Marx, Socialism, and Communism in the 19th and 20th centuries. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ysZC0JOYYWw.html

This is gold! Thank you for posting this video. I believe the only way out of the market-economy / capitalistic system, is to impose a system enforced by whom cannot be bribed nor corrupted. This can only be accomplished in a macroscopic level through technology/automation, in which goods are still provided under the rules of supply and demand, but without the gear of scarcity needed to turn the wheel. Having a centralized center of command apparatus that surveys supply, demand and transportation can create an abundance the world has never seen. However, we are so used to living in a stratified society , with more losers than winners, that it's unthinkable living under a different societal paradigm. Even if we come up with a course of action, we would have to hit rock bottom before the general population will listen to utopian ideas. Until then, nations will just lean between oligarchy and crony capitalism.
@criticalthinker6736
@criticalthinker6736 5 лет назад
Agreed. I would, however, be careful about saying "utopian" ideas. Jacque Fresco himself believed that there is no such thing as utopia, only viable solutions that work for a given time period. As time goes on, the earth and universe will continue to evolve and develop new problems that will require new solutions and ways of thinking. There will never be a state of "perfection". Now, the only question is will humans on earth destroy themselves before we can even reach the next evolutionary stage.

I feel like the problem is, the number of people who couldn't grasp everything talked about, combined with the number of people who may understand it but just accept it as the way it is and aren't really bothered by it, far out weighs the number of people who are truly fed up with the system and want change. it's hundreds, even thousands of years of ingrained social/political/religious economics, my hope is it doesn't take nearly as long to reverse.

Such a great interview. David asked constructive questions that sought the root ideas Peter lays out in the book, and gave Peter the space to fully explain his answers. Nice. I don't Pakman frequently (more an STR dude) but I'm enjoying the Discord server so heard about this. Great to see you giving TZM some air and thought time. Been a Zeiter for nearly a decade and the more resources available that I can call on when advocating to someone the better. Would have preferred much more time as it's such complex issues and I'd also have liked the 9/11 question to have been asked so those who saw the previous caller video about Zeitgeist films would understand he's not another Alex Jones and dismiss what he's saying. Thanks again though :D

I think what's going on is, people don't realize the RBE is also technological automation. Communism involves jobs. I think we need to start asking people for their understanding of communism first, when they mention it. full automation of all job processes would end the need for people to commute to work; dramatically lowering traffic jams; dramatically lowering car accidents. Full automation would also end work related deaths and injuries - almost all mental illness is related to financial stress. Parents would be at home and not stressing over money and so this would dramatically lower domestic abuse, which would in-turn lead to a much healthier future for those children not affected by it. Women would no longer be at the mercy of the Harvey Weinsteins of the world. People wouldn't get hurt at work and so it would lower the pain pill addiction epidemic. Identity theft wouldn't occur as it is motivated by money. and so on and so forth.
@javiervalenzuela8284

Ted Bolha there mentality of people would need to be reshaped to not seek status and not have an "alpha, beta" mentality. In Ireland there was a time when only the first born male would be able to own property and subsequently wed or vote. This meant that the non first born males found other ways to establish dominance and hierarchies and it led to combat being used for this purpose. If this mentality isn't changed first there could be much worse in store.

I've yet to see a convincing case that you can grow adequate calorie crops locally. Not to say you can't do it sustainably by any means- agroforestry offers some really interesting potential here. But you can't grow all your food locally. Speaking as a small scale vegetable farmer serving a local market here.
@mistercohaagen
@mistercohaagen 7 лет назад
What if it was augmented with something like what the soylent (not the movie) people are doing? Could you grow your own veg for nutrition and taste, and add in what you lack with an easily ship-able form of calorie like soylent, or whatever else you could think of? At least make it more efficient and cost-effective. What about after things like farmbot.io? There has to a a point where things start to work for a household, and then can be expanded to the block, neighborhood, township, city, county, etc. Is at least a bootstrapping of localized food production possible from the individual on upward? I think so... speaking as an open-source roboticist.

I believe you are referencing the anti-religious commentary breaking down Abraham religion as a product literally invented and of it's time period. Theists and atheists alike have been trashing it's thesis for years. As it turns out, Richard Carrier with a PhD in ancient history, specially focusing on ancient Roman history, took a public grant and discovered there was much weight to the Christ Myth hypothesis. Richard Carrier at one point agreed that Jesus was at the very least a historical person but changed his mind when he researched it more deeply. He's now convinced that the historicity of Jesus carries nearly no weight. Others in the field are slowly opening up to Carriers work. Long story short, this saves Peter much of the scrutiny he has received over the years and further legitimizes his thinking.

Javier Valenzuela , maybe it’s more about culture being installed, attitudes becoming acceptable, manners understood, subtle nuance that shape methods and means within smaller then larger communities are developed, thus institutionalize. American culture, to me anyhow, is about faking it, until you make it. Including they’re reality media. They like the superficial, the entertainment element that they think reflects who they are but is in actuality marketing them a lifestyle, a way of life. Branding. They buy it , eat it up. Another, Americanism is how opinionated they are. Distracted by it. Doesn’t matter if they’re right or wrong, they think free speech is anything that comes out of their mouths; primitive , argumentative, projecting, unfounded, unhelpful, now Trumpard is even fashionable phrase. Ever changing but not. They think they’re fresh, innovative, extraordinary, special, invincible but mostly they are childlike without taking responsibility. Players. They have a show for you, while in reality they are cowards like Paul Ryan. Big talk, talk, talk. Nothing is for free, you see. Somebody will pay for the play.

But I can't help thinking his book so far is nothing short of a socialist utopia and the alternative will never work. People like Owen Jones (a deluded journalist for The Guardian) bark about a utopian society but in reality they have no real sense of how to get there. In a resource based economy as proposed by the Zeitgeist Movement and the Venus Project, money will cease to exist because it will no longer be relevant or needed by using technology to create an abundance and give free access to goods and services to all people. There is also no government or state that rules over the majority in an RBE.

No, poverty is not violence, Peter. Plenty of people who are poor are not violent and plenty of people who have all they need are. Violence has a clear definition. You can't just make up your own definitions of words.

Wrong. people in poverty die many many years before those not in poverty due to system dynamics. That is structural violence. And no - those in poverty do not have a choice because capitalism is a zero sum game.

I'm an atheist,have been all my life. When I saw the Zeitgeist movie I laughed like a kid when he said that many religions used the 25th of December as the birth date of their God/Messiah etc,and how they all were basically the same story,it fitted right in with my beliefs and I lapped it up. Then I found out it is the biggest load of BS, the Atheist experience did a video on it (with sources named) and it taught me a lesson about reinforcing your own prejudices .I'm still an Atheist but I have zero respect for this opportunist.

A few things that Joseph seems to totally ignore. Firstly there is no scarcity in capitalist societies. He wants to "create" abundance that already exists. The more free people are the more abundance there is. It did not come about due to the kind of central planning he advocates. He also totally ignores human nature as if humans can just be reprogrammed by teaching them new things. They cannot. This is the mistake most central planners make. They take no account of the 5% of the population who feel zero empathy at all and if given the chance will take hold of any levers of power they can. So, if you have centrally planned food they will take control of this centrally planned food in order to control society. These people will not go away just because you wish it for your utopia. The only way is to give nobody any access to power, this is becoming more and more obvious.
@technatezin

Peter neither advocates central planning nor central planners. There is no "center" for planning for what he proposes which wasn't even his original ideas, but from people like Buckminster Fuller and Jacque Fresco and many other thinkers before them.

Listening to this guy makes me realise just how much of an irredeemable cynic I am. The socialist robot utopia is never going to happen, we are facing a new dark age and it's going to be bad. Resources are not artifically scarce, it is simply a function of ecology. A population of animals given the right circumstances will always outgrow their means of sustenance, this has been studied countless times and humans are no exception. The richest people in the world don't possess more resources than everyone else, fiat currency is a fantasy which can break down at any time and owning the means of production is not the same as being able to control it. Poor people don't have low IQ because they are poor, they are poor because they have low IQ. This is true in the western world because of our job market increasingly requiring advanced skills, in third-world countries things are more complicated but you can't just claim that "poverty rots the brain". You can increase efficiency of production, reduce the land and resource area needed for food production and reduce the need for labor. Then what? Population explodes once again, scarcity hits and once more capitalism thrives.

RatSlayer 420 You mess up right when you try to convey every animal will outgrow the land or means to live...because humans are separate from animals on many levels hence culture, language, conditioning, and technology. Currently our economic system globally encourages constant consumption but are you really denying the existence of tribes or localized communities that have proven to live in harmony with the land? If that's the case, I don't mind pointing you in the right direction. You'll also notice the correlation between education and offspring proves we don't have this "instinct" to reproduce at a rate to harm the current capacity. Education and conditioning plays a big role in someone's decision to have 10 kids or 1. This drop in biodiversity is merely the effects of a market system that operates as if the world is not symbiotic. Treating finite resources like pieces of a game for the sake of paper money. It's ignoring the reality that as technology grows the ancient notion of a "market" needs to evolve into a more harmonious means of resource sustainability. Companies need to work together with open information, rather than to compete just to create more waste from product obsolescence, hence new phones every month with minor differences for the sake of more sales. Products need to be made with the intentions of lasting as long as possible with Universal layouts in order to reuse old models. Lastly, you extremely mess up when you say "people are poor because they have low IQ". I just want to ask, when was the last time you looked into this? 1929? Have you looked into any sociology, psychology study in the past 50years?? It's like your saying "stress doesn't effect health, your health effects your stress" www.businessinsider.com/poverty-effect-on-intelligence-2013-8
@ratslayer4202
@ratslayer4202 7 лет назад
So there is correlation between poverty, lower gray mass volume and academic proficiency. I think I've read this article before, and I'm no way discounting the work of actual scientists but as always, correlation does not equal causation. The heritability of IQ is a hugely controversial matter, and hasn't really been made clearer by findings in genetic research that certain alleles correlate highly with intelligence metrics. Meanwhile however, there is no denying the fact that IQ influences your choices- and abilities, in the education and job markets. The devaluing of unskilled labour inevitably causes increasing poverty in individuals and populations with lower IQ, and further developments in labor efficiency and automation is going to make the problem much worse, not better.
@ratslayer4202

"You mess up right when you try to convey every animal will outgrow the land or means to live...because humans are separate from animals on many levels hence culture, language, conditioning, and technology." None of our abstract reasoning and use of tools seems to have stopped us from breeding endlessly and destroying the natural resources we rely on so far, in fact it seems to have had quite the opposite effect. The reason there are communities and tribes that "live in harmony with the land" whatever that means, is precisely because they lack the means not to live in equlibrium with their environment. They lack the means to empoverish their future to enrich their present. Given the choice, humans tend to choose that way of life, just like a group of rats would rather eat the grain supply and die from starvation when it depletes because of overpopulation. You have a good point about education and the number of children a woman has. It's just too bad there are forces actively working against the emancipation of women in the third world, and western feminism has done nothing to help that recently.
@mistercohaagen

+RatSlayer PotheadDude, Poverty and IQ decline are generationally synergistic; direct and inverse are simultaneously true, with observable genetic and epigenetic effects. "Human nature" isn't set in stone, and we can guide human behavior with education and intelligent statistical analysis. Human behavior being what one can do in a lifetime, and human nature being what that behavior produces in the next generation; this is a function of evolution itself. In a society where self-interest has become social-interest, we'd all be educated to possess this value with a full understanding about why it's important. IQ is a narrow measurement at best... I think the point of PJ's train of thought is that it shouldn't matter what your IQ is. Human happiness and flourishing doesn't need to depend on any specific set of traits when we can and should base our life support system (socio-economic system) on real environmental data and scientifically tested methods of management instead of gut feelings, beliefs or mob consensus. This would provide every generation with the best chance of continual improvement. It's not like the people in the space station have to guess at a manual mix of their own air supply and water requirements... we can measure it and arrive at a number of people we can support in a given environment. Then we know not to send more than that number up there (or not to overbreed ourselves out of equilibrium on "Spaceship Earth"). Equilibrium is what most of PJ's message is about, taken as a whole. I'm a cynic too, but I realized that the psychological damage that drove me to that effect is all derived from the system as it stands today (when viewed through systems theory), and that there is a better way. So I'm cynical about everything but this "better way", and I work to better occupy that mental space by learning which strategies get me moving in the right direction. I have no idea how far I'll get, but I want to die at least aligned with undelusional undogmatic principles that are based on evidence, logic and reason.
