everyone seems to be reacting to this news wrong. HxH is a rare exception in manga in that it is 100% owned by togashi. shueisha is ONLY the publisher. with THAT in mind. this news is BAD. this is shueisha finally saying they have had enough and wont entertain the idea of it being weekly anymore.
It sucks having hiatuses but I just pray that togashi is healthy and finds the time and ability to complete HxH in an unrushed fashion and show the world it is the goat of all anime
more like humans gave their worst working conditions to their artists. Its insane how some people get rich with completely unnecessary products or even worse business that actually destroy health and/or environment while artists who bring thousands of people tons of joy with their artworks get wrecked or end up poor or both.
Even if it's just flat out done, I am just so grateful for his body of work that he's made over my lifetime. He's given so much and I really respect artists like that. Genius.
I can't wait to see what happens next, but I hope Togashi health gets better. I know he wants to continue drawing manga, but his health comes first before anything else.

Hunter x Hunter has always been an incredible series for me. I love how Togashi is back to doing chapters again. It’s sad it’s won’t be in Shonen Jump anymore. I loved it was there and Shonen Jump is my favourite manga magazine of all time. Please do an art evolution video for the Bleach manga. I would love to see you do that.
Speak for yourself. I’m ok with the wait, if togashi feels the need to draw his manga. If it’s too much for him, then I understand. But I like his style, and would rather him continue to do the bulk of the art.

It’s really sad that he didn’t learn to take care of himself as he produced the manga. Back issues are a pain, but they can be avoided & solved with proper care & physiotherapy. Alas!
If Hunter X Hunter never went on too many Hiatuses it really could'ev been a great rival manga for One piece and it would'ev been up their with the big 3 as the 4th best selling Manga

Even if HxH never makes a comeback, (ughh as much as I itch to see killua and gon return!) I’m so happy it’s gone this far. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just weird, and have nothing else to spend my brain power on, but I think about HxH ALL THE TIME. I first watched it 2 years ago. Maybe I’m nostalgic for it because I was going through a rough time and it really helped (and I still helping) me. I’ve cried over all the characters so many times. I look for the qualities some of the characters have in my friends. I read so many character analyses. I’ve tried to draw in Togashi’s art style. I draw inspiration from HxH. I think about my favorite characters all the time. Go over the scenes I love the most in my head. Relate songs I love to characters and situations. I’ve even rewrote some scenes in novel format. I’ve never done that with ANY other piece of media, show, literature, art. Ever. HxH is a masterpiece. (Like I said, maybe im nostalgic, and biased) but I’d go as far as to say it’s one of the best books/shows written. Of course that’s subjective, but I still think it. It’s so complex with world building, characters. Omg. It makes my brains want to explode. Not to mention the art. Oh my god. It’s like look at yellow daisies in a field on a sunny day. It’s so simple, yet beautiful. I hope my love for HxH will stay forever, even if one day I’m a cringey middle aged woman fawning over it. It makes me feel so full, so inspired and so happy. It’s a simple pleasure of life- just a little book/show. (We all know it’s more than that, tho ;))
Same I've probably watched it over 20 times in the past few years. I started watching it in the worst moment in my life so maybe that's why I got attached to it too.
Omg. I couldnt relate to this any more. I actually feel the SAME exact way about hxh. I Never thought anyone else ever felt thhe same way I did bro 😭😭 I always thought that people think I’m weird, that I’m hyper fixated on hxh. Maybe that’s true, (it’s definitely true) but to have someone else who feels the same way about this beautiful anime, it’s great. In fact, hunter x Hunter is so amazing, if even inspired me to make my own manga! Oh and also, referring to what you said back in the beginning (about hxh possibly never coming back) good news, know it will for sure. Togashi stated that he WILL finish hunter x Hunter 100%. He said that he’ll finish it no matter what happens, even if he dies. (I really hope he doesn’t because he is such an amazing person with such an intelligent and creative mind) He said that if he actually does die, he showed his wife the rest of the plot for hxh and she’ll be the one to continue it. His wife is the creator of sailor moon so she has a ton of experience. So, we know hunter x Hunter will come back, it’s just a matter of when! ;D

I've thought the same about Vol 35. My "ideal" for it was that the princes die countercounterclockwise. Ofc, that'd mean Tserriednich dying sooner in the game than expected but it'd be interesting as it'd mean Camilla, Tyson, Zhang Lei, Luzurus and especially Halkenberg get more formidable. And it'd mean that Fugetsu, Marayam, and Woble become crazy X factors, whcih do seem feasible given Fugetsu's state recently, Marayam's nen beast growth, and Woble being unknown but having that one panel that made Kurapika react. Nasubi getting killed midway sounds like neat in my mind too, really showing how things can go on with or without the predecessor. But this all feels too spoilery for a volume cover. It could be set up where this is just Round 1 and it's left side vs right side (maybe in ascending order). Marayam was given more attention and priority over her sister and Momoze died. Kacho and Fugetsu seemed at odds with their differences but were unified, but one's way of thinking did technically lead to their downfall. You got Sale Sale in his lazy complacency dying vs Halkenberg who steeled his resolve and decided to be less passive and take action for what he wants. This gets trickier past that cuz the right side has one more (excluding Woble), but there is the 3-way mafia clash and once you remove those three, you got Camilla vs Benjamin and Tyson vs Tubeppa, which is a bit of a question mark as we don't know much on Tubeppa. But we do know that compared Tyson's wide love and naivete, Tubeppa is a scientist who is very cautious, likes things plain and simple, is allied with Tserriednich, also loathes Benjamin, Camilla, and Zhang Lei. Also, compared to Tyson, who didn't give a single thought to Kurapika, Tubeppa really craved his mind. So there is a case that can be made for that matchup. That aside, I like how Kurapika is centered in the volume as he in the middle of all this chaos. Also, his right arm points in the direction of his allies and positive interests (Oito, Woble, Zhang Lei, and Halkenberg) and well as those really intrigued by him (Benjamin, Tubeppa, and Luzurus). Maybe I read too much into this and Togashi says down the line that the Vol 35 cover was a red herring and that he'll do what he wants. We'll wait and see. Also, thanks for the video.
He had surgery already and something went wrong after. Further surgery could make his problem even worse than it is so he's opted to controlling symptoms.

Honestly I kinda wish that he separated Hunter x Hunter and changed the name for the sequel after Gon found his dad. Then people could see this as a sequel instead of an unfinished work.
I love HxH but I really don't care if I will wait for the new chapter for one week or even years. I just want the mangaka and other authors be just happy and healthy. They already brought masterpieces so let them live their life the fullest.
Honmestly i wished he would just focus on writing and drawing storyboards and let the actual manga be drawn bis someone else + assistants. He would have no trouble finding someone who would want to do that and could focus on what he does best, writing the story. In my opinion, splitting writing and drawing could work wonders for him and this is nothing unheard of (I mean Death Note was made by a duo where one wrote it and the other drew it). Also, Togashis drawing style while definitely unique is not very nice to look at in my opinion. Of course he would have to find someone who can mimick his style and not completely change it, but I would be all for it, as long as Togashi writes the story.
I understand that he can’t draw many chapters due to his back but if he really wanted to he could have got someone else to draw the chapters with his guidance while he wrote the story on a laptop, that’ll reduce the strain on his back and still allow chapters to be released, now there could also be an argument that he simply doesn’t want to do that and wants to finish this series on his own

I've never understood why Mangaka, once got a certain amount through the story, when it's proven successful and the fans love the story. Why the can't train up somoe artists to a very similar style, and then simply be the author, and have essentialyl employees under you, doing lots of teh drawings. You can supervise the drawings, the panels, make corrections, and it'd still save you crazy amount of time. Some reason the manga industry, even someone likd ODA, with over 1000 chapters, like how at that point can you get some artists working udner you, to speed up the work 5 fold
@balakliya oblast yeah, I find it hard to feel sad for them when they are doing this to themselves, most panels could have easily been drawn by someone else and he could focus on important panels here and there that he wanted. And it's not like this is some crazy never seen before idea, it works for manhwa
This is my biggest gripe with the mangaka in general. Having artists draw the very bulk of your chapter where you can edit, touch up, or tell them how to do it, just seems so efficient and more importantly healthier.
Because most of the time drawing is part of their storytelling and vision. If you don’t draw it, you feel like you are leaving part of your vision out of the story.
Awesome vid, as for the releas of HxH knowing Togashi, he'll probably want do 80 page chapters to make up for 4 weeks of Jump releases. My honest wish if he could find an assistant artist who would cover the art so he could focus on the writing. Personally I'd love if he would team up with Sui Ishida again but he has his own manga but that's also getting slowed down on releases(possibly teamed up behind the scenes?) But I eventually expect Togashi to find someone who will do the art.
Yeah he seriously needs to find a trading point with the art. I personally think he should just draw the heads of characters and the nen abilities and leave bodies and backgrounds to assistants or something.

I just want new episodes of the anime. If Bleach can get a new Ark over 10 years later, I dont see how Hunter X Hunter cant get a new season once there is enough material. Or better yet give us a remake of Yu Yu Hakusho like they did with Hunter X Hunter is 2011 to tide us over until then.
I’m not perfectly up to date, reading only the volumes once they come out but I think that the ones dying will he the ones “at the bottom” so next we’ll see the right side go up chronologically. Only the highest up get a chance, they say
It would be much better if each chapter only have 19-25 pages but montly rather than doing 35-50 pages for each chapter per month I don't mind if they only release 1 volume per year rather than 2 volumes per year (which is the vast majoriry of montly manga are)
If Togashi released 40 page monthly chapters it would kind of defeat the purpose of moving on from a weekly format. I don't think he could even keep up making one chapter every 2 weeks.
I think the only real hope is togashi swaps to light novel format and a studio picks it up. Wont happen, but more likely than togashi writing another few hundred chapters to finish the whole manga.
I just wish before his death toagashi completes the hxh manga, if the story is completed they would definately make anime of itas it is best shunen,just wish he gave consecutive releases.
Why doesn’t he have another artist draw the series for him? He can storyboard and write the story but if he can’t draw he can hire somebody to do it. Similar to One punch man
I just came across your video today (3/4/23). I think it is telling that Shonen Jump moved him out of its weekly serial. Personally I think Togashi should have been moved to a monthly schedule or just exclusively dropped volumes quarterly. I don't want to be negative but I think the company has finally come to terms with the realization that Togashi cannot keep up with or be counted on to keep up a weekly schedule on any consistent basis. I personally believe that if Togashi cannot cut it in a monthly magazine, he may be unofficially retired from the industry without any fanfare (meaning silently pushed out with HxH going unfinished or wrapped up in a hurry without a satisfying conclusion like YuYu Hakusho).
I think quarterly chapters is realistic, but I don’t see a scenario of him being ousted from Shueisha altogether. Whenever his volumes *do* drop they guarantee millions and millions of dollars for them within a week alone. Edit: oh sorry, I forgot to also say, Shueisha said they were committed to getting Hunter x Hunter to the finish line right before removing it from SJ magazine, so no matter what, I think his career is pretty locked in.
At this point I would be okay with having one of his understudies draw the manga with Togashi writing everything. Please don't let this become like Berserk.

Togashi dies somewhere in the middle of dark continent arc, his wife sells hxh's rights to some subpar company and they finish the series. Also put anime's comeback somewhere in between.
He said a couple years ago that if he didn’t even draw all of the characters (his assistants draw the backgrounds) then he would be a failure of a mangaka. So it’s ego related, but he is making very slow but steady compromises, like changing mags and such!

Personally I think story wise for HxH we will see the black whale burst into chaos and we'll lose the Phantom troupe minus Chrollo who will kill Hisoka and then be killed by Kurapika who will then die leading into following Leorio for the arc we get on the dark continent
To most, that would be a way over the top theory, but I’m right there with ya’ pal. Togashi did say they were all gonna die, and all this setup does feel like a Quentin Tarantino film haha.
I think that the succession arc will effectively end at the shore of the New World. As the last survivors gather, the last Prince/Princess will be de facto winner but with no real kingdom. I think the idea of chaos on the boat is more then likely, yet I’ll perhaps advocate for a more Titanic narrative where a leak from a Giant Beast from the New World impales the ship and now it’s all people for themselves and the poorer classes rush to the top and that’s how the Whale collapses. At that very point we’ll have the Second Chrollo vs Hisoka match, this time though, I think Hisoka wins, he learns from mistakes very quickly, the chaos is his friend. Kurapika may want revenge on the Phantom Troupe but what more ironic then if half die and half the Troupe surviving and them needing to face each other on the beach. After that, who knows
He has too much pride to let anyone else draw it, he needs to give that up. you set this stage for an amazing world, characters and story lines and if you cannot finish it, then you need to hand it off, tell the story to someone you trust and let them complete it.
there is no point inspeculating truth is we are never seeing the end of hxh ..its funny to me how you are talking about the next prince to die like we are getting somewhere when in reality togashi hasnt even started the main plot ..what is ging hunting for.. how did he knew about don freecs why did he leave gon and whos gons mothers and how does it relate to the dark continent and its calamitie.... with the pacing of the chapters and hiatus there is no future fo hxh.
@@alexenterprises1even that is far fetched maybe in 2028 we can finally see the backstory of taisons bodyguard but jokes aside i love hxh pacing and film noir atmosphere but it has to be weekly or at least monthly for us to follow this arcs plols and subplots .. i reread all the succession war dark continent arc for these chapters only to have nothing happen to any major character we even got introduced to news ones ... nobunaga couldnt even beat random morena goons dont get me wrong if you binge read hxh the pacing is perfect but when you know you are getting 10 chapter every 4 years you lose hope
