Joseph Pilates did have an anatomy book, he definitely was a genius in creating the apparatus, however the base and root of the movements are mostly coming from his practicing yoga which is more than 5000 years old.
Some interesting stuff, thank you for sharing. I see your frustration when your client goes to someone else and has that light bulb moment, but to me it just means your client is not ready to hear and take on what you are saying and in my experience too much language and hands on doesn't allow your client to explore movement themselves, it's not necessary to tell clients what they should feel they just need time to develop the skill and as you said experience movement in their body in a positive way.
