It would have been better if he read the FTC agreements before going on a weird tangent about price increases and tiers. Like he made a problem up that doesn't exist and then made a video about it lol
Microsoft are just a failing company at this point. Windows 11 is a joke being turned into a 'service' Windows 10 is getting dumped Xbox has no games Closing studios The entire company just needs to go away and let more capable people fill the shoes left behind
I had criticism for the gears 5 monetization and xbox fans defended it like Leonidas and the 300. I'm getting too old to care about gaming like I used to anyway.
They could've made GamePass just a catalogue of games without the promise of day 1 for all their games. Microsoft could've made it so that all first party games would've come to the service a year after release. But like you said, they just got too invested in it and maybe Phil didn't want to admit defeat so he doubled down on it.
He wants all the casuals to subscribe on Xbox or PC. Madden, MLB, NBA, Fifa, all the sports games are already on it, now Black Ops 6. I say good riddance, we dont need 100 million casuals & 20 million gamers for Sony to be successful.
It wouldn't have sold. They built it up on 1st party day 1. They should have made it 1st party titles and new releases on game-pass for first 7 days of release only, and then you get a 10% coupon to buy the title digitally after that week. They are low IQ businessmen imo, no creativity and no idea how to putout great titles.
@@HermannTheGreat well in Phil's defense, to play devils advocate, they are trying to sell xboxs to casuals by putting CoD and all sports games on GP, so they can sell GP. It may or may not work, only time will tell.
@@tacituskillgore7437 Playstation had Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, FInal Fantasy Rebirth. And Rise of the Ronin of those presents itselfa as a Playstation first party title with the PS Studios Intro...
I think the only reason Call of Duty is the best selling game is that some gamers have lower standards for games So they keep putting out the same slop year after year.
I have not owned a Microsoft system since my 360S RROD'd for the last time. I did not buy a One, or Series X. Neither interested me. I moved on, elsewhere. The choices they have made in recent years, the buyouts, layoffs, and everything. I feel for their audience. Promises, trust, it is all broken. All that's left is an empty shell
They lost my trust with the "these games will be out in the next 12 months thing" Its not the delay that bothered me but people probably signed up for gamepass, payed monthly for a year expecting those games, and they didnt come out when they said. Something about it seems close to false adversing idk
@@droid4d279 and to better iterate I don't think it's a bad service or value just that it's one aspect about the serive I felt was strange after that presentation
I love game pass. Manor Lords, Palworld, Starfield, Persona 3 Reloaded just to name a few games I have played in 2024. I expected the service to go up just like every where else. To me nothing wrong with internal talking with in Xbox about what to do with call of duty.
I don't think so, that would be harmful for Nintendo and PlayStation since they would lose sales on their own store. I think it would be cool if Xbox became a game-focused OS, so we could get a console experience on PCs like the Steam Deck does with Steam OS.
The fact of the matter is that Netflix and Hulu and those other video streaming services have shown that subscription service isn't sustainable. Why on earth would we think that the same model for a more expensive to produce medium would do any better?
Tier system for just COD makes no sense. People can just buy COD for full price and subscribe to basic gamepass. Unless basic gamepass doesn't include day 1 anymore
I think too many people gripe that game pass is not a value. We have games to play until eternity. We don't even have to buy games anymore. There are so many on the platform. I don't want to buy a cod, Madden or 2k every year. they don't change that much. The same black ops mechanics from 2009 are almost the same. Same with sports and racing games. Just new fields or tracks. Subscriptions are perfect for casuals. If they increase the price it falls in line with all sub services.
@@ronnieb7989 I can see it perfect for casuals, but the issue is that currently there are no consistent new content to keep them subscribed. That's why Netflix is successful over other streaming services, they have new content coming in each week as opposed to one hit series every month or so Game pass tend to bring new content mostly from their back catalog. They don't even have a hit must play game every month. The only big games they had last year was red fall, starfield, hifi rush and diablo 4. All were months apart for the most part. For a subscription service to be successful you want people to forget to unsubscribe. By not having consistent content; people are just going to subscribe for the month a hit game comes out which is worse revenue than buying a $70 outright
I mean, obviously they are going to introduce a higher tier. I’d be seriously disappointed in them if they didn’t. Adding Activision games is a whole other layer, like adding EA play. There’s major value there
I think the funny thing is that Microsoft is doing the exact same thing did when Bobby Kotick grew and acquired Blizzard and other Studios under Activision and made studios consolidate to support their cash cow franchises and it seems like Microsoft is doing same thing lol. Microsoft might as well rehire Kotick so they can make money as he did that very well
Isn’t it fair to say most of CoD’s audience pretty much solely buys CoD and maybe Madden or something every year? I certainly have seen that from friends irl. So I’m not really sure if Game Pass is an appealing or honestly even much cheaper alternative to just buying the new one every year… like yeah technically it’s a better deal but does that really mean anything when you’re not really interested in playing other titles anyway? While I feel we should hold them to their word for the “all first party Xbox games day one” thing, I do question how much being on Game Pass would actually affect hard sales.
@@tomradburn2073 they already have to buy the gamepass to play online anyways so why not sava a couple bucks and have all that extra stuff you can use or even game share
I mean, you gotta buy some version of gamepass already to play online, so paying a bit extra per month to get CoD along with it is gonna be really appealing to a lot of consumers
You are so right, this is all my friends. Its like eating a bowl of crap for years while you are missing out on this Buffet of great games. I just dont even try to convice them anymore
That’s because they aren’t campaigns anymore. They’re just online multiplayer tutorials. They just call them campaigns to justify selling half of a game at full price. Which for some stupid reason is now 70 bucks.
@@Packin-Heat. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. 30 million. And No it has not been slowing down in sales. Some of them has had weaker sales compare to others but still sells more than any exclusive and other games annually. It's always in the top 5 all year. So stop it like this is not good.
If they increase the price more than a couple of dollars a month, I may have to consider canceling my game pass subscription. I like my series x, and I’ve enjoyed playing game pass and have discovered some new games, but on the other hand at say 20-30 bucks a month, I can always buy games here and there that I want to play.
@@PartyUpLive even with all of the short comings that Xbox has, I honestly do enjoy playing their consoles. The series x has been great since I bought it
@@whysoserious4464 I like my XSX too, though I like the PS5 OS also. Between the two I lean towards Xbox, but lately, Steam/PC is becoming my favorite.
Im starting to think that when the activision deal got so pricey and in court etc phil was effectively removed from the lead role afterwards by microsoft as xbox was in charge of itself but all the controversy caused someone higher up to say no phil aint the controller of this brand hence the rebrand to microsoft game studios or whatever it was
Hear me out… subscription services are GREAT…. At the BEGINNING of a console generation! When a console has its footing in the market, and the flow of new games is steady, they aren’t worth it, and this is coming from a person who BUYS between 5-10 game a month. With the availability of demos for most new games, subscription services are becoming obsolete. I used gamepass as a means to try games before I bought them, but now I’m just better off buying the game, and if it sucks, I sell it. I was an Xbox live subscriber since day one (got the cool Xbox 360 to prove it), and when gamepass Ultimate became a thing, I stacked subscriptions for YEARS, but in February, I let my subscription expire, and I don’t foresee ever renewing it.
I think many people underestimate the impact call of duty will have on game pass and Xbox , it’s definitely going to move people into game pass regardless of whatever the price increase is , people will still buy
I sold my Series X 2 Days ago… Don’t miss it! Went and got my Apple Watch upgrade something I use Daily! I still have the Best Xbox though… The Xbox 360! Last time Xbox meant something!
Xbox It's Satya Nadella and Amy Hoods show now as now they demand xbox studios to port their games Ps5/Switch and sooner or later they are gonna replace Phil and maybe Booty as well or they are gonna leave by choice.
Way too many studios to not whip out some grand titles by now is dumb. They could be makin FAST fun games that have only 1 year dev time and whip em out and see what sticks too. but they're just doing pretty much none of that. If they make a Crimson Skies game with a co op among pirates thing with an open world to do jackings in sky, water, and ground, that would be cool. They could use the Sea of Thieves engine to set it up and get rid of the stupid art style and put cool stuff like the pirates in planes theme again.
Unless HALO gets good again, like co op spartan ops again, or CRIMSON SKIES, I dont know what they could possibly do anymore other than I'll turn the box on to play old games. Hydro Thunder would be good too.
I’ve gotten to the point with my Xbox Series X where I’m now just using it for Dev Mode homebrew games and emulation and am doing the majority of my current gaming on PC and Quest 2. I may return to Xbox Retail Mode if they decide to bring VR to it with Quest 2 compatibility.
If you don’t understand how weird this COD situation is just got to your significant other and tell them: “I decided just now I only wanna be with you”
Xbox is going to make money whether gamers purchase CoD outright or through GamePass. 8% of CoD gamers are on Xbox. 16% are on PlayStation. It makes complete sense to put CoD day one on GamePass because they aren’t necessarily losing anything. COD makes even more money throughout the year with the purchase of in game content such as skins and battle passes as well. Where games are take longer/more expensive to make, for Xbox to have CoD in their corner every year generating cash will keep them relevant in the gaming industry. Even more so when you compare PlayStation console sales to their first party exclusive sales.
I can only game an hour a day. I like all kinds of games. If this is how you game, why would you not get game pass? It is absolutely the best value in not just gaming, but in all entertainment.
I feel this but if I was completely without a system I may very well go with the small white box. PlayStation tiers are still more expensive than Game Pass plus Xbox always has really good sales. I can see why an informed gamer may not want to go Xbox but look at some of what I just mentioned. Shoot, I may still go for a cheap little s. Just saying is all.
I think that if they do increase the price just cause of cod is absolutely ridiculous because there are people out there like me for example that have completely given up on the series and don’t care for it
I just got rid of my gamepass subscription. I was having audio issues they couldn't fix, and then when I was looking at the games I felt like I played all the good ones. maybe it will be worth it again at some point and I still belive in the subscription model for games, but right now, gamepass isn't it.
In the UK only 20% got the Xbox series X , while 80% got the PlayStation 5. 2023 10,000 game programmer lay offs, 2024 so far 9,500 Game Lay offs. No new Games until September end of year.
Console sales: Nitendo's first place Second place Playstation ..... Far behind. Xbox very bad sales. Almost no one is buying. Game Pass has stopped growing. Microsoft can continue to lie that Xbox is not dead.
I think it will help the Xbox bc people love cod. You can always find something on Xbox. Recommend Don't buy the x if you go to get a game pass. Get x if you want to buy only old games. Now and then get game pass for what you want after play cancel it and pick it up again when you see what you like and The price increases, making sense it might be around 15 dollars Xbox need it bc they lose money and battle
Not all some die-hard cod fans bc you get all of the cod game and the new ones coming up, but that's a really good point. Die hard ps5 playing won't so yes also you can an a Xbox cheaper then that used or 500 Gigabyte white 150 to 250 maybe cheaper if you have a buddy maybe a trade they so many options! you can always sell and Make some money back to games or other stuff it's limited I don't you should get the black unless you find it sexy/cool and give an f about money and Xbox X is hard sell unless you love o.g Xbox/360 you Love to play old games and that hard sell I'm more for s unless unless you care the physical but to the young that's a super hard sell I love Playstation but im no pony I have love for all and none that's fun the only thing I don't play is pc bc I don't have money for what I want also if you do have a pc you can get it on there so cod will get alot on pc bc you pay 70 Digital vs 12/17 and I said it will help they will get Playstation money too it will be 3 side given money bc cod sells if I buy cod I will play it for awhile then sell it any ways I play it then let it go for me it's a no did this help see I will even will give a like bc you had a good point and im nice while others cold as ice I think why cant we all be nice and kick it then flip it have a beautiful day
2024 no increase in gamepass price. Cod early access only for purchased premium versions, gamepass will get cod few days later. 2025 increase of 5 dollars for gamepass with new incentives including day one release of cod 2025 on gamepass. Core will stay same price.
#1 Produce limited edition consoles. #2 Switch to M.2(hasn't anyone learned from the proprietary mistake?) #3 Lower salaries if you need to but keep those devs employed bc they're printing future earnings.
I like the concept of Game Pass. And I'd love to subscribe to it. But I just don't have a lot of time to game, and when I do I'm playing games that aren't on Game Pass. (like Ghosts of Tsushima or Hogwart's Legacy). It's just too pricey for the very limited games I'd even consider playing on it. I'd frankly rather just buy games at a discount on Steam. Personally I find Humble Choice a far better deal than Game Pass cause you actually keep the games.
Just want decent single player games that don't require online or a prescription to to play them go back to the days where you could just buy a game and play
A tutorial on emotion-based reasoning. It would have been nice to hear some of the facts or data you said were out there. You should never trust any of these corporations. They all give you a message, not truth. Gamepass is still a fantastic value, even if they raise the price another 5 dollars a month.
RGT and all you haters are complaining about a price increase that hasn't been confirmed or happened yet. All this anger was for nothing just end the video saying "I still love my Xbox and I'll still play all the upcoming games." People like you can't be trusted.
It's like this big dog, The public is burnt out from hearing the same thing from Phill Spencer, I believe he's also burned out and his last interview he looked as if he was about to crack. When you hear Sarah Bond speak I just hear a younger less weary Phil, he's imprinted her so strongly her husband should be concerned. I think the platform only has one way forward...
@@droid4d279 right but I am sure they expected stuff like Halo and StarField to make big impacts and they didn't. I am sure that is why people over Phil are sticking their noses in it now.
MS have made a rod for their own back. They have struggled against the Playstation for a long time and using 1st party games leverage on gamepad was because they had nothing else to give. Now they have a $70b hole in their pocket and they think the 10-20m COD players will pay $20 a month over the year. They won't, they'll but the game and be done. They need to reverse the 1st party to give 3/6 months exclusivity at retail but they'll be uproar, so they're screwed.
