Well, this is the dream.A Fuzz on the surface with an Overdrive as a foundation. I'm very seriously contemplating selling my overdrive and fuzz pedal to purchase this. Thanks for the video!!!
The boundary between fuzz and distortion isn't actually well-defined; it's more of a grey area where transitioning from one to the other is a gradual process... The key is to find a good combination of nuances, perhaps a bit of one and a bit of the other.
I shy away from most fuzz pedals because they are so difficult to tame and often just plain flubby. The Nero sounds like a game changer. Thanks for the demo and review, Michael!
Just ordered one. Sounds like everything from Robben Ford to Billy Gibbons or harder sound. Cleans up nice. What's not to love. I could even see using this in a church band context by rolling down the volume.
Hi! Just got my Nero and the Comp knob is not a compressor per se. It is actually a parallel mixer for the fuzz, being it 0% fully parallel (no fuzz stacking on the gladio and the gladio being mixed parallel to the fuzz... lol) and 100% in Series like you would use pedals in a pedalboard. So yeah... not a compression control, but it results in a change in compression of sorts
I’m not sure of the technical specifics but seems pretty unique in its design. I believe I read it does use 1 transistor but @cornerstonemusicgear could comment more specifically.
There's a fuzz section composed of 1 transistor only with two bias controls (the voices) and the gain control, followed by an entire gladio sc built in. Tone, volume and Comp are from this section. So definitely not an opamp based fuzz nor a clone of any other fuzz 😉
@@cornerstonegear Ok after description it is like some sort of raw fuzz/boost tamed by over. It reminds me behavior of Velvet Fuzz but with more agression in tone.
I think this is a very nice sounding pedal, but I'm not sure it's a great fuzz. The fuzz characteristic itself is kinda neutral. That being said I can see a uses for this pedal, if you this of it more as an overdrive or distortion, several of which you showed in the video. The lap steel sounded really awesome.
Yea I mean, it's not designed to be a "classic" fuzzy tone. There are already a lot of pedals doing that classic fuzz job. This one is different and designed for people who have always loved fuzz tones, but never really get along with them...
