8 years later and the claim has finally been removed. Thanks to everyone who put some traffic on this tweet: twitter.com/PeanutButterGmr/status/1248099343543877633 (And also whoever was running the RU-vid Creators twitter account who noticed it.)
Some audio in this video is removed due to a false contend ID claim on the "Song of Unhealing" by some random music company. (Not Nintendo.) The original uncut version is still available on NormalBoots! Check the description for the link, and sorry for the trouble!
How dumb! The music isn't even made by Nintendo, it was made by a fan. Besides, it's reversed, so there really any copyright infringement there. Our country these days...
***** Yeah, someone did a remix using the Song of Unhealing, and whatever network/company they're affiliated with refused for a few months to release the claim, despite Polaris and I bringing up the fact that they're claiming a Nintendo song (played backwards) as their own. But with the way the YT content ID matching system works, they don't have to defend themselves. They can just reject the dispute every time, even if they're in the wrong. Which they did at least twice. Pretty lame, but what are ya gonna do...? Remove the song from the video, I guess, lol. If it was Nintendo making the claim, I wouldn't have even done anything about it.
Imagine dying protecting Hyrule's castle and some random orphan kid with weird clothes just stands beside you and starts singing: "HEY THIS SOLDIER IS DEEEAD OH WHAT A HAPPY DAAAY"
Can't believe this video is 10 years old now, I remember the good old days, recording this video with my 3ds camera so I could show it to my friends at school. Good times.
Yeah, he says how he's really interested in ghosts and is studying them, and it "might come in useful one day"... that's pretty much as close as they can get to saying that's the Poe collector without outright stating it
Agreed. And given the fact that he stands outside the building where the ghost shop would later be set up, the soldier is by far the most likely candidate to be the Ghost Hunter. My guess is that the soldier was killed during Ganondorf's attack on Hyrule Castle and Ganondorf transformed his spirit into the Ghost Hunter, which is why he seems to admire Ganondorf.
Being mind haunted by Ben over here...DOES NO ONE CARE LAST NIGHT HE SAID "You probably shouldn't be walking with your eyes closed..." YEAH I DON'T THINK HE"S CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY!!!!
I always had a theory that the "ben drowned" creepypasta was based off of some sort of corrupted file. Crazy things can happen when your file becomes corrupted, like an infinite loop of the great fairy blessing you with magic, then proceeding to kill you. It actually has happened to me before. I was quite young, picking up Majora's Mask for the first time in a while, after giving it up because I was 3 and didn't even comprehend anything that was happening at that point. I loaded up the save file, even restarting the game a few times, but no matter what, I always saw the animation of Deku Link being blessed with magic, then proceeding to die immediately afterwards.
***** Welp, It's official. It is now impossible to have fun on RU-vid because factual trolls immediately bring out the wiki pages to prove anybody they can wrong.
BK201DarkerThanBlack To be honest, I mainly had that theory back when I was a bit younger. I didn't legitimately believe it was an actual cursed copy of the game, but I didn't want to be one of those people like "DUUUHHH, NOOOO, ITS A HACK YOU DUMM LIER!" either.
***** Alright... Well, seeing as you're a poor kid and you obviously need the satisfaction of being right to keep living, I'm going to let you have the satisfaction of winning and get on with my life now. Have fun being miserable.
man as a kid these videos opened my mind to so much, i knew glitches happened in games and i always loved to explore them but the idea of changing a games narrative and core elements to tell a spooky story of a warped or entirely different version of that game was crazy to me
me too. its so depressing. also the ben statue scares the shit outta me. luckily i play majoras mask on the 3ds. (so i just make sure i dont encounter him. even tough its fake. im still scared of encountering him for some reason.
I'm literally paranoid. Actually using comedy videos about BEN, mostly Really Freakin' Clever's 64 Things wrong with Majora's Mask and this video, to help me cope.
It blew my mind to see this in my recommended saying "7 years ago." I remember when this was first posted! I was 11 years old and all the stuff at the end terrified me. Time is a crazy thing
The wierd thing is I had an old friend in kindergarten who drowned in the public pool. He was named Ben. but he wasn't much into videogames from what I knew.
Happy man sales man says "you've met with a terrible fate" when you first meet him When ever you let the moon crashes, you hear his laugh and the text reads, "you've met with a terrible fate" I FIND THE HAPPY MASK SALESMAN GUILTY OF BEING EVILLLL
Jocelyn Gómez Silguero While that is a popular fan theory, I seem to recall that it's really a metaphor for the five stages of grief Link is suffering due to his loss of Navi.
The Ben Drowned Statue is kinda like SCP-173 in a way, they are both statues, they both move very fast and they move when entirely out of your vision, the only differences are that SCP-173 snaps necks and Ben Drowned does not, also ben drowned does not seem to have arms, and if he did, his arms would be stuck in his "pockets" or his belly, however SCP-173 always has his/her stubby peanut arms stuck out, only in the revised entry can It move its arms, hands and fingers. Overall the 2 are very similar, and are also creepy pastas and memes.
this video came out 11 years ago, I’m going to be 20 in june. I don’t know how I got back here but i’m glad I did. I randomly got reminded of you because you were my favorite youtuber to watch growing up. Hope you’re doing well now. Watched your newest video and I’m happy you’re still doing content
Is it odd that I actually like the Happy Mask Salesman's laugh as well as Skull Kid's scream? I could listen to them on repeat for hours and not get bored with it.
I'm actually 99.9% sure that the soldier is the Ghost Hunter. I know this not only for the reasons you listed, but because on my 3DS version of Ocarina of Time (The Nintendo I own doesn't work, sadly) and when you run to try to get into the castle before the gate closes, somehow I was able to get in. I'm not sure if that is a glitch or if that was just sheer luck (I've never been able to do it before, so this was a big surprise to me) but the second I stepped on the bridge it started to close, therefore I was in Castle Town for the first night that I'm pretty sure is meant to be spent in the field... for most, anyway. Continuing! While I was messing around in Castle Town I went to collect some rupees for the time being and when I talked to that soldier, his exact words were, "Man, I am SO tired! The night watch is so boring! I wish some ghosts would come out or something... Hey, I'm really interested in ghosts! Studying them is a hobby of mine, but you never know... The time may come when that kind of knowledge might be useful!" So, the soldier is interested in ghosts, likes trouble, has the Triforce symbol and stands in the exact spot the Ghost Hunter later stands, so I think that is proof enough that the soldier is the Ghost Hunter. But then again, I'm not sure if he says that EVERY night, as I usually don't talk to NPC's if they aren't part of the mission, but I know he at least says it on the first night, if not all of them. Wow, I write too much... xD
There are also people suggesting that "both" the soldier and the young boy are the same person and are later fused together to form the ghost hunter. The evidence that people have is that during the 7 years that Link was aging into adulthood to be prepared to fight Gannondorf, Gannon shaped the world around him in his own image. Seven years is a lot of time to alter the world to your will. He must have noticed the boy and the soldier and bit-by-bit; inspired them to work with him to help place death into the ghost hunter's hands. Thus when they combined as one, they could not recognize link because there are two separate people sharing one brain.
Well, that's an awesome theory. ~headcanons~ Also, that's not a glitch. I've done that before. It scared me though, I was like "OH CRAP I CAN'T GET OUT CAUSE THE GATE'S CLOSED!!!" But then I was like "oh yeah, Hyrule Castle, nyeh heh heh"
Yo, am I the only one that noticed this? At 7:02 the audio goes really muffled. (I assume it’s just an audio glitch.) But that’s not the weird part. Starting at 7:07 and lasting till 7:23 I hear some weird super quiet muffled audio in the background of what sounds like hysterical crying. The most intelligible part for me is at 7:17 when you can hear it more clearly followed by them saying “Help me”. Wear headphones to try and hear it better. Am I seriously the only who’s noticed this?
I'm eating a triple decker peanut butter sandwhich and it's the dead of night and I was looking for creepy pastas but now I'm left un-sp00ked with so much peanut butter someone help me
So about that graveyard kid, it was stated in an interview with Yoshiaki Koizumi that he went into the lost woods to look for his missing father, but then got lost himself and turned into a Skull Kid.
We actually got some info more recently on what happened to the graveyard kid AND his father. There was an old interview that didn't get translated until last year. The kid ran away from home into the Lost Woods, got lost, and became a Skull Kid. That third one that shows up as an adult but not as a kid? That's him. His father, the town's guard, went after him but also got lost. He eventually died and was resurrected as a Stalfos.
The part where you are like 'Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce,Triforce' Speed that up it sounds really funny XD ( 3:38 )
This video came out when I was 6. I'm about to be 18 next month. It's actually insane how time flies. Thank you Peebs for always being there for your audience and not giving up on us. Your videos have always been able to make me smile even after the hardest days. :)
♪Hey this soldier is dead, oh what a happy day! Hey this soldier is dead, I just watched him die!♪ (Come on everybody!) ♪Hey this soldier is dead, oh what a happy day! Hey this soldier is dead, I just watched him die, YAY!♪
I had the misfortune of watching this before going to bed. The end sequence was in my head and I couldn't sleep well. I didn't have a nightmare, just Ben's face and that accursed giggling for the night.
This scared the living daylights out of me. I was scared to go to bed because I had to travel up a whole staircase alone, therefore with my back exposed. And everyone knows that if your back is exposed, anyone or anything can appear behind you. What next? Turning past the creepy looking gate latch so it closes its "mouth?" God forbid I walk across my *whole room* to reach the safety of my bed? I had to have a sibling or parent follow mw upstairs sometimes because brushing my teeth was incredibly scary. A MIRROR? What if something appears in it? What if something doesn't appear in it and it gets me from behind because I couldn't see it? God, I'm an _adult_ now. It's weird that I'm the same person as me.
I used to watch this over and over again when I was younger, despite being scared out of my mind, so I can’t tell if it’s bad or good that I have nostalgia
I was 8 when this video came out. It somehow scared me so bad that i didn't play majora's mask for years. It was the conclusion part of the video that did it
