Just converted the exact same machine. It's awesome! I'm sure someone mentioned, or you know, but that white protective film on the drip tray comes off.
Just got this machine for me wife's 40th. Had a great deal on a specialita grinder on top so pretty stocked. She's been drinking garbage coffee for decades
www.peakcoffee.cc/ No issues nothing much really changed from pro to evo. The plugs changed and I had to remove them and shrink wrap them individually aside from that all same.

Hi it’s been a year since your video. Could you please share if the boilergate issue cause great impact to this mod? Because u have the exact same machine and people told it’s unmoddable with Gaggiuino. Could I replace this boilergate with the uncoated one?
Love the videos. I'm upgrading from a Flair and waiting on the parts to make my Gaggiuino. Currently also using the DF64V which I like outside of the stalling at 800 or less RPM (even at filter grind size, frustrating). Do you have a link of where you purchased the wooden portafilter mount that you have under the DF64V shoot?
I have not tried but I would think as many as you want it will heat up fast so the time you prepare your next puck it would be ready. If your talking about lattes that would have milk need to be steamed I would say pulling two shots first then steam and pour. If you make any more shots the first would cool down too much.
@@decentcoffeeeveryday great, my parents like “coffee”, as in drip from the carafe and so if I keep pulling shots for americanos for them, it’s be nice to have coffee together.
@@decentcoffeeeveryday Did it come with installation instructions? I've always thought my Gaggia needs a ball joint steam wand instead of the stock noisy rotating wand. Would love to see a video outlining your installation!
Hi Your videos are informative, huge thumps up, Considering upgrading my Gaggia Classic Pro with an STM32 kit. Currently using a PID XMT7100 with a 9 Bar OPV spring. Do I need to switch to the stock 12 Bar OPV spring with the STM32 kit? Appreciate your quick advice!
Hi, I just bought the Gaggia Classic Evo Pro and was actively looking to upgrade it to 'The Gaggiuino'. If I understood this correctly for a stepwise instruction If I just 1. Buy the following parts Gaggiuino V3 - Kit Set ( Gaggia Classic Pro ); ToFnLED - Water Level Module 2 x 30cm; DualScaleBoard Kit ( updated ) 4 Load Cells 2. follow the 3 videos from Robert Silvers I should be able to build this? Is tthere anything else I would need that is not mentioned around? Have I referenced the right parts?
Like 12 hours but it was my first time so much of it was figuring things out. Troubleshooting at first my blackpill was not communicating with screen so I had to reflash that, work smoothly after that. I also had the ToFnLED - Water Level and scales which needed soldering which took most of the time.
Have you noticed how the temperature doesn't change from 100.9c during brewing?...But only after switching off the brew switch?. You probably had a total swing of 10c from the set temperature. The Gaggiuino firmware average the temperature, pressure and flow which does not show the real and accurate readings on the display.
The same happen with my Gaggiuino, I attached an external thermometer to the boiler and the Gaggiuino readying was the same as the thermometer but we I started to brew the Gaggiuino temperature was off.
Yeah your deduction here is utter bs, pls do better in the future. Longer explanation: The screen temperature shows the "target shot temperature" and during a shot the system does everything it needs to achieve(or try to since it depends on how high is the flow) the wanted temperature, there's loads of stuff going on with a gaggia boiler that the software is just working on overcoming, not easy to understand when you're getting your ideas from nowhere rather than working on such machines to understand the ins and outs.
@@VSparxxx What kind of stuff is going on with the Gaggia boiler? The boiler is just a block of aluminum with two heaters. Based on your theory, the software was off by 3c from the target temperature during the brewing. 100.9c during the brewing process and jumped to 104c immediately after switching the brew switch.
@@Ron-tr2wr It's small and needs proper handling in order for the newly incoming water during a shot to be brought up to heat during a shot, this is why Gaggiuino software is bumping up the heat during the shot itself, it's an option in the software called Brew Delta, which takes into account the freshly incoming water based on the flow value and heats up the boiler accordingly to compensate for the temp loss that would happen otherwise.
Hello! May i know the reasoning behind using 100° as temp ? Îs it related to the temp variation to the extraction group, If yes how much of a diff IT does ?
@@decentcoffeeeveryday thx! I do have a gcp but pid only and looking to ads gaggiuino soon...with the same logic i should set my PID also close to 100 in order to get a brew temp of 93 94
Is there a disadvantage to using a bottomless porta? I have the non modded Gaggia. I’ve been removing the drip tray and putting a paper towel under the blow off so I could fit the scale in there. I have a bottomless porta filter so if it’s not hurting anything I’ll switch if I want to use a scale . I’m fairly new to espresso.
I guess the downside of a bottomless portafilter is that it can get a bit messier due to spray. Also, you can't split a double espresso directly over two cups with bottomless. However, it will help you to see if there are any defects. For example, bad puck prep, channeling or too high pressure. Additionally, I find a bottomless easier to clean. But as you have them both I would just try them both and see what works best for you. Although a bottomless gives more clearance I upgraded to a slim drip tray and a Timemore nano scale, so everything nicely fits underneath the Gaggia.
I put a tall skinny shot glass under the purge tube when I’m using the Gaggia without the drip tray. I’ll probably get the low profile drip tray at some point but for now the shot glass works well to keep the mess contained.
Hi there, is that steam wand on your Gaggia Classic modded, or just comes as standard with new models? If it's a mod, would you mind sharing the name of the mod/where to get it? thanks
How long do you have to wait from turning on the machine to brew temperature of water in the boiler? How big is the temp diff between the PID and the water in the boiler?
About 5 mins to get to temp there is a temp offset that you set I have it at 7. Since the boiler is small I suspect fast and longer shots will have a drop in temp but no much.
The espresso has lost all it's creme in the mean time and looks very watery. And the screen is so miniaturistic. From a technical point of view very interesting indeed. What about the practical value?
You can get a bigger screen. I opted to get the 2.4in screen because it fit more cleanly on top away from any heat or water unlike the front mounted screen. It is easy to use to do any function small screen does not bother me one bit. I do think this provides a lot as far as function as you can basically pressure and flow profile any type of espresso shot. Like the decent machine just more budget. The Gaggiuino also allows you to be consistent. Unlike having to do it manually it will always be slightly different.
I use the naked portafilter from shades of coffee. Depending on what basket I use it changes how the seal is at the gasket my Pesado basket is slightly thicker so I changed my gasket to a silicon 8mm thick one and that seems to work great.
@VSparxxx The Decent is much more intuitive. Bigger screen and just overall easier to use. Everything is straightforward, and all the profiles have a description of what they are and what they are trying to achieve. Plus, heat up is faster as the decent has a heater in the grouphead and much more detailed and accurate as it has many more temp sensors. Gaggiuno drawbacks are you need to build it took quite some time to get the kit. Has a much steaper learning curve
@@decentcoffeeeveryday Thanks for the honest opinion, just fyi most of these issues will be solved once the new LCD upgrade is dropped together with a new software, not only it will allow bigger screens seamlessly it will also allow to operate your machine via any device that has a browser, you can see videos of the new sw in operation if going to the off. community channels. But nice work man.
I really do like the form factor of the Gaggia and in USA the Profitec go is $950. It is cheaper with a modded Gaggia with PID. But I do not have personal experience with the Profitec Go. I think the Profitect is a better build Quality. I sold the white Gaggia because I decided to do the Gaggiuino. That said the Gaggiuino is by far more capable as it has flow and pressure profiling and you can repeat consistently and change your profile to mimic any type of shot. So I really am getting great results with it and I'm coming from a Decent Espresso Machine which says a lot.
@@decentcoffeeeveryday Yes indeed, it says a lot! I’m glad to hear this because I finally decided on making my purchase of a Gaggia unit, a Classic Evo Pro, cherry red, with the pressure at 9 bar from the factory. I want to build myself a Gaggiuino for sure, but I’ll try to live with the unit "as is" for a while, I know there’s tricks to keep the heat up and stable (like purge the system just before pulling the shot so it recycles itself, etc). Here in Canada, the price has gone from $650 to $800 in the last couple of days, so when I saw a distributor still offering their machines at $650 (and there was literally just 2 units left!), I pulled the trigger, at 3 am, in the living room, in my underwear, like all impulse buys should be done... lol Thanks for the great content! Pierre, from Montreal 🇨🇦👍
Decent much more refined and easy to use and change parameters. Gaggiuino can pull similar shots but decent is just better in every way. I still have my decent its for sale.@@i_Lndr
@@decentcoffeeeveryday my daily is the Londinium R24 and just have the GAGGIA gaggiuino for something to tinker with. I thought about buying a decent at one point.
Can you share the tools and all parts you used to complete your build? I looked at the kit at peak coffee and it said 3d prints are not included, I have no ideas what needed :). Thanks!
