My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. As usual very helpful video. I don't do small engine for a living. I love it when people throw things away. I bring them home and find in most cases it just needs a carb or an adjustment. You can use a clear straw/tube and your thumb (over the end) to get a liquid sample from the bottom of a tank or can...

I have a home shop in the basement, I have most of these. They are all great tools to have. I started around 10 y.o. from the teachings of my father, bought myself a 10×12 shed when i was 12 with my profits and took the Foley Belsaw course, then when that got boring I went for bigger projects later lol. I was a car mechanic for two decades until I became disabled and went back to something a little easier on my body a few years ago. I love your videos! Ty for the informative videos and sharing tips for the public. Something I've always wanted to do but too shy and closed off.

I've got a smaller gooloo and they are amazing. Battery went out on my 2500 silverado, jumped that truck from full dead 5 times off one charge. Beast of a machine. I don't think it had been charged in a year either and went thru a tough florida summer in the truck. Also that bore cam for inspecting pistons is brilliant

The Echo SpeedFeed 400 universal head I bought from the local Echo dealer does fit curve shaft trimmers. Just need to use the white insert provided in the package and flip the reel.

I have the Dewalt portable compressor and love it. I keep it in my truck. My favorite thing about it is how it shuts itself off when it reaches the pressure you selected. When you hear it shut off, it's done.

I really bought the blue Holtzforma 660 upon your recommend; it’s real hard to start. Saws like crazy! I found that if you buy a Stihl, non recoil cover. Just drill about an inch hole in the center, you can start the saw. Use a deep well socket on a good drill, the drill turns flywheel fast enough to start the saw easily! I’m going to use locktight on the flywheel bolt. Seen it on a video!

The last "tool" you talked about, you commented that it doesn’t fit stihl, it's because stihl has their own. I have a stihl "bent shaft" trimmer and it's head works the same, but looks differently, I was told by the dealer to take about an arms length of wire and feed it through (about 6')! Works flawlessly, I highly recommend

@ 68 years old I'm glad I can still learn something new. On a previous video you claimed that putting string trimmer line in water would rejuvenate it. I have a Ryobi battery string trimmer from my kids for Fathers day last year. I put some 0.80 string in it and it bunched up in side and the string broke off. I took the head apart cleaned all the dust out of it and soaked the string in water for about 30 minutes. I put everything back together and was able to use the trimer without further problem. Im intrigued by the soaking the line thing. It just makes no sense ( plastic can't absorb water , or CAN IT ?, but I am going to have to try it.

The trimmer head you featured here, I bought a 5 pack of china copies and modified one to fit a 25cc homelite curved shaft trimmer model ut33600A. It now will ratchet the opposite direction. Made a piece to adapt to 8 mm rh threads out of a 1/2 bolt drilled and tapped in the center. Way cheaper than buying the originals for that trimmer and easy to use.

Tool number 11: Battery tender! Lawn mower batteries will last much longer if you use a tender(years). I have brand name but also cheap Harbor Freight brand and they all work Great! Use them on anything you don’t run for more than a week. Keep up the good work. Enjoy your videos

I got that Dewalt tire compressor as soon as it came out (when it was around $90 at HD) - probably one of my favorite tools. No excuse for not leveling off your car tire pressures each month with one of these.

Solid advice on the tools. I also keep a dental pick, magnet tip and extendable flex head mirror. Things happen and my fingers are more like cigars than cigarettes. Also as a tip: I buy only a gallon of gas at a time for home use. That way I have to get fresher gas as needed.

@@mikeskidmore6754 I've experienced into the 2nd year with straight gas in a push mower having minor to moderate issues. I've also used gas with stabilizer in my weed eater into the 3rd year with no noticeable issues. Not that I'd recommend it, but I thought it was interesting seeing how it's said gas spoils after a few weeks or a few months with stabilizer.

Great suggestions, I agree and have most of these tools. I'd add alligator forceps to complement the hemostats. These can reach far down in a tiny hole, and just the jaws at the tip open. You'll be so glad you have a pair the first time you need them!

Nice video and very informative. Since watching you and Steve's Small engine saloon, I have been able to keep my equipment running for a lot less than always sending it to the repair shop. I will say that I don't get to in-depth with repairs but just keeping up with normal maintenance and cleaning is always a good idea. Thanks and stay safe.

What you have in your hand is a Kelly clamp. If you use your thumb and ring finger you will find you have much better control of your instrument. Friendly tip from a retired nurse who worked in surgery for 30 years.

My 2 friends and I each have a MS262c. Runs good through tank of gas. Refill, won't start. Let cool for 30-60 minutes, will start. All 3 do the same thing....when it is hot out. Live in SE Mo. Watch all your videos.....LOVE them.

Might be set to the winter setting. There is a "door" or "valve" that changes airflow around the carb. If it is set to winter, it might be the carb is overheated, giving you a vapor lock situation until it cools back down.

Another great video. I could use some advice if you got any you’re not using. Husqvarna weed eater. It will crank, dies when I pull tigger. I have tried everything. Cleaned the vent tube filter. Blew air thur carburetor, checked fuel filter an changed fuel lines. This stuff is not as easy as you make it look. You do have a special gift. I’m a jinx myself.

All good equipment and great info. The BEST gift my wife got me is the B&D "Gyro" screwdriver. The one that is little, stays charged forever, has torque, fits in the palm of my hand and responds to twist of the wrist left and right. 1/4" hex drive so all those driver bits can be used. Had mine 5 years. At the top of my list!

Sadly, that model of the "Gyro" screwdriver isn't available anymore at any normal retail outlets. I checked for hours at every place I could think of and at every single seller it was "out of stock", "discontinued", or "newer model available"(not the same at all), etc., etc., etc. Even on eBay they are so rare that they have been offered for sale at outrageous prices as high as $129...no kidding! Every single review or person extolling its greatness has said "If you find one, BUY IT!!! Thanks for the heads-up and I'll be keeping my eyes open at garage sales, swap meets, flea markets, etc., as I just have to have one now! ;-)

A little disposable pipette trick, grab the pointy end with a needle nose plier and pull it, it will stretch and leave a longer, much finer tip to dispense through for finer work.

One of my favorites is the spark Check'r, just clamp it on pull the rope, or turn the key, and it let's you know if you have weak, no, or good spark.

The one tool you missed that I discovered was indispensible back in the '60s when I had my first metric motorcycles is a manual impact screwdriver. The only way I know to get out the phillips head screws holding case halves together, among other things. I have several of the tools you mentioned here. Looks like I may need to pick up a couple of them.

I know what tool you refer to. They were popular with mechanics til cordless impact drivers grew beyond deck builders. I used to use them but tech made them obsolete.

I agree with @mrblanche. Cordless impact drivers will just strip the heads on Philips head screws. I have a manual impact screwdriver I still use for motorcycle case bolts that haven't been changed out to Allen heads.

In a fix repairs here IF YOUR IN A FIX GET INAFIX. Power pack, check Torks bits, check hemastats -- full set( the curved ones are really great for pulling fuel lines in chainsaw) the rpm meter I got to get Asap.if you get a portable air tank and adapt it to your dewalt then you get enough moxey to blow out carbs and fuel lines.I do house calls for garden tractors and snow blowers.was retired but got so many can you please help me calls Started the business. Thanks so much for the RPM gage idea, once apron atime did it by ear. Now hearing getting bad BTW please wear hearing protection when running engines.when you are 60+ your ears will thank you. Just found your channel, always eager even after 28 years to find a new or better way, please keep it up.

When I saw the title of this segment, I almost knew for sure you would mention the Wera 1/4 drive socket set. Although not mentioned, I’ve watched you use it quite a lot, in fact I bought one myself. I worked as a fleet (shop forman) mechanic and took care of alot of small engines on everything , on the water check we had a paste that you would put on the end of the stick to check big fuel tanks, turns purple when water is there, keep up the great vids,I also put fuel shutoffs on all things that had to travel to jobsites, bounces causes the floats to fill engines with fuel, (hydrolock)

We used that stuff in the Navy when sounding fuel tanks on board ship, no clue of a brand name because everything was packaged differently and didn't display a company name just things like "Lubricant, Small, Arms"

I bought one (Tach) on Amazon $20 about, works but danged if I can make out the Chinese/ English instruction, "revalutions per week" that's how it starts out and it get's worse from there, fuddeled around with it and got it to read properly for two and four stroke, good enough. knowing comes in handy.

The easiest and most reliable conventional wind head is the one on my Husqvarna 128LD, one of the best trimmers ever made, IMO. Very intrigued by the Speedhead.

I have a bore scope camera that plugs into my cellphone...can take still pictures, or do video recordings...not too expensive, since only need the cable/camera and free APP. Then, I can email, or text puctures via my cellphone!
