Lots of truth to giving your time! I built up my experience helping family with tech issues, some church volunteer media help, and other jobs. I had 0 tech experience on my resume. Two degrees, worked several other jobs, just had basic computer skills. Then one day I got a data entry contractor job through my recruiting company which led into a full time position doing tech support at a major university. It was my references talking about my commitment to volunteering my time and exposure to helping people that the hiring manager was most impressed about. Now I am about to start training for my next career move as a cybersecurity analyst, with two years of professional tech experience and 3 certifications later! I wouldn't be in tech without God's answer to prayers! It was exactly what I prayed for! 😄 Appreciate your videos Boyd!

I admit I didn't even think of volunteering to get experience in IT but a major point that was made was FAITH and GOING THE EXTRA MILE. When farmers plant seeds they are GOING THE EXTRA MILE to prepare the land for cultivation of the crops and they have FAITH that their hard work will reap a good harvest. If no farmers had those 2 things in less than a season we would starve. I learned something new today. As always Brother Boyd great points, great video and we look forward to the next one 💯thank you

The biblical principle remains me of my time at a church i was member for years. regretfully, the moment mentioned i was a " Tech Guy", familiar strangers, i rarely knew from the church would regularly call me for favours to troubleshoot and fix their device issues. When i refer them to a professional help desk, the conversation abruptly ends with the mood of disappointment. I learnt church is the best place if you don't mind being used and taken for granted.

Actually I’m working as IT TECH, because I said in my interview that they should give me the job as a volunteer, and now I am working in this position, but I have not found any company or anything that gives me the opportunity to work as a volunteer in a cybersecurity position. Can you give me some advice on how and where I can look?

Excellent point on volunteering your time, even looking for an internship. You have to get into the environment and apply the training yo hands on.

Ideally volunteering time and doing part time interns for non profit organisations such as churches or charities, I strongly recommend avoid inviable startup businesses looking for free labour.

volunteered my time to a media company. They had problems with there computers and no one there had any I T knowledge, So i would fix there computers and solve phishing attacks for them, I Would also provide support.

Question. I currently work at a retail, and I have some troubleshooting experience (pin pads, boss s phone and registers. Must I say more). Can I leverage that as experience? Also, what about a trailer park?

I'm on disability and trying to think of a way to volunteer to learn and get directly into pci dss, hopefully i can find it, as I'm physically unable to do physical labor as I've done for the last 23 years. Direction change

I am not sure what physical limitations you have, but in my experience my cybersecurity roles didn't require physical labor.
