Who else has an experience like this?!? 🤣😂🤣 Let us know down below in the comments! And believe it or not, we had a lot of fun in this game! Hope you enjoy!

both points are valid and make sense. In Dan's case however, the whole point of playing a game is to have fun, not just to win. If someone just wants to play to win, that's what solitaire is for. In Jim's case, he played the game by the rules and won by the rules. there should maybe be different sets of rules for different number of players.

Recently discovered the game and I gotta say, watching you two play it is really enjoyable. Hope to see more on your channel, already watched every episode😅

In the beginning, I was like that's a deck and half to go through for 2 players. It ACTUALLY finished half way... what a game. Most fun to watch from the rest.

I gotta side with the person in red. He had his path to win what he was going for. He stayed on that path, didn't deviate, and won. Sounds like he did his job well. Imagine if he would have changed his strategy and started fighting monsters, didn't defeat them and shifting his focus opened the door for the other guy to start building back up and regain a bit of tempo. Imagine then that the other person went on to defeat a few monsters and won the game. Would the person that lost be saying.. dude you had me shut down and you let up... you would have won. Now saying that I get it that it's sometimes not fun for everyone when someone jumps out to a lead like that, but it's the games fault not the person playing it. Not always the most fun way to play a game, but the person in red played a solid game even though it really stunk for the other person. Good game to watch though. Last if I was the person that lost, I might not have flipped a table, but I would have thrown in the towel much sooner with the reasoning of saying, you got me, well played. No shame in that.

Yeah you're not wrong there Mikel! It can always just be a feels bad when you're "not allowed" to really feel like you're playing the game. That being said, you're totally correct with your analysis though!

I normally don’t house rule games, but for 2 players we play it as having to achieve both win cons to win. If I was playing a game per the rules and the other player is having a miserable time, I would be miserable. I’d put it away and grab something else. Back in the day however, it could be Uno with high school buddies and it was all out war throat choke lol!
@hobbiesnhappiness

Pretty sure we all had those cut throat matches of UNO!

In Jim's defense his way prevented you from making progress towards winning while at the same time making progress towards winning himself with the full party win condition VS going after monsters which would have made progress towards him winning but then given u a chance to come back and win. One way was a guaranteed win for him the other was only a chance to win. Strategically speaking he played optimally but I can totally see your frustration since he didnt NEED to do that to you in order to win (and given his board state he was in a good position to win still even if he started just going after monsters)

I only play this game two player but I have never bothered with the monster win condition, and noone I have played with has ever won that way, I am 100% with Jim. If you're gonna play a game designed for more players at two players you can't be mad at him for taking the more valid direction.
@Zmark2
@Zmark2 Год назад
Definitely taking Jim’s side. The point of the game is to beat your opponent, no matter how you do it. Jim didn’t break any rules so what he was doing was actually calculated and smart. That’s how i play and annoying my opponents is where i get my “fun” from. Hilarious to watch Dan be frustrated tho :)

I feel every one at the table should be having fun and enjoying the game otherwise there is not point in playing. Dan's strat is valid but only if there is multiple players so a single person isn't targeted. When it got to the point of just drawing cause nothing else could be done I would have just called the game there and walked away cause no point in playing if I'm not having fun and able to enjoy the game.
@hobbiesnhappiness
@hobbiesnhappiness 2 года назад
I was trying to prove a point in continually drawing cards!! 😂🤣 At the end of the day as long as you can laugh and have a "good" time, that's all that matters...even if your opponent hates you 🤣

Yeah I don't like playing that way either. We tend to "house rule" have to win by slaying three monsters. Still entertaining to watch though guys, keep it up

When we play this game we play it without the party win condition so people would actually slay monsters and not dick around

Also I believe it may be possible to counter, by just keep drawing like seen in the end. He's playing odds for a guardian, and if you play odds as well it can be "fair" game match. Boring but fair. When all guardians are in your hand(with duplicates for protection), start putting them down.
@casualpotato44
@casualpotato44 2 года назад
To be fair his strat kinda only works on a 1v1 game. With additional players, he can't target a single player without jeopardizing his win, because other players could just normally play the game to win lol.
@hobbiesnhappiness
@hobbiesnhappiness 2 года назад
True! Totally get that!
@joshuahilgen3128
@joshuahilgen3128 2 года назад
I understand both sides, however I think if it’s allowed per the rules then it’s fair play. If the game wasn’t supposed to have that option it wouldn’t have been designed that way so I’m with Jim. However, I totally see the frustration from Dan’s side and I agree that it’s terrible to play against that.
@hobbiesnhappiness
@hobbiesnhappiness 2 года назад
I think you nailed it! There's definitely a lot of grace that's needed in situations where one side is getting frustrated, and I think it brings up some interesting talking points as well!

I don't think i would play that way SOLELY. I think i would try to hedge my bets and try to beat monsters WHILE building my party. Also, he was stealing heroes that he didn't need to complete the win condition. It was only screwing you over for the most part towards the end. At that point i would've just kept drawing till the game was over and make us both miserable. Lol

I mean the game is designed to be played with more people and is Balanced that way. I think this strategy wouldnt be this effective if even 1 other player is in the game because Jim would have lost in keeping you down alone to the third player in game

I have been on both sides of that fence. Competitive games end this way for Casual gamers a lot. Hence why I lean towards Co-Operative games now. Sadly adult gamers will burn bridges for trying to play a PVP game with people that are playing for the sake of fun. I pissed off my gaming group trying to play MTG Commander for the first time with them using my best deck. None of them were new to Magic, just the format. Because my deck was better, I got shamed and we have not played Magic since. PVP games with weird balance issues are triggering for some players. So far the games I have watched you guys play of this game have been really swingy. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my kids. So we will almost never play 1v1.
@hobbiesnhappiness

Nowhere in the rulebook included with the game does it state there's a hand limit. I've gone through it quite extensively and haven't found anything.

@@hobbiesnhappiness I googled this question and this is what came up. Looking into it more it looks like this is the rule for unstable unicorns but players have implemented it into this game to balance it more so players don't hoard cards.

The argument of him making the game not fun for you reflects more on yourself that you aren't a fun person to play with. Best option would be play house rules with 1vs1 if you can't accept losing fairly, i wonder how you would of played in his situation. Funny to see you try and guilt your friend and make him feel bad just because he had luck on his side this game.
