i quickly wanna mention this, spy wasn't originally a full class at the time. it was a bug in the code where you could be seen as a friendly but you could trick other players with it kill them n such. then after a point in time it went from a bug to well a design you may say and boom a class been added. from there on spy design was based around well a spy. i just wanted to drop this lil fun fact here :p (ps sorry if i miss type something English is not my first language)

DID YOU KNOW: Notch was accused of impersonating the notch during his time playing TF2, so he made a joke tweet about it complaining about how nobody thinks he's the real notch playing TF2. Then, VALVe decided to give notch a hat called "Top Notch" that only HE could have. So that people KNEW it was Notch. The item also had a secret stat that made the wearer take 10% more damage.

While I wouldn't disagree that TF2 have an impact of the game's development *early on* when Notch was actually still in charge, I heavily disagree that Mace + Wind Charge are directly inspired by TF2, it's just a convergence of ideas. The reason for this is because Wind Charge is directly inspired from Breezes' attacks, which isn't necessarily something that can be tied to TF2 because Breezes are more of an experimental mob that's made to bring chaos by relying on knockback as its main form of attack. The reason why they allowed Players to use Wind Charge for themselves is because of people messing around with commands that allows Players to play with Breeze's Wind Charge, which turned out to be popular among the community. And the Mace's mechanic of dealing more damage the farther you fall is just a more powerful and expanded version of a mechanic that's already deeply rooted to Minecraft's combat mechanic; Jump-Crits, which I highly doubt is directly taken from TF2's gameplay since the way you get Minecraft Crits doesn't really exist in TF2. This mechanic is probably also inspired by the utility of Wind Charge itself, making these two synergize with each other as they are both going to be found in the same structure. Again, the end-result of these items are very similar to one of the playstyles seen in TF2, but this can be attributed to convergence of ideas (like convergent evolution but for ideas lol) rather than a homage to TF2.

The "video essay explaining why tf2 is the best game ever" genre is getting a little ridiculous at this point

TF2 might've been some inspiration, but Notch said that the two main ones were Dwarf Fortress and Infiniminer.

- Minecraft referenced Tf2 and in arpil fools -Notch is a fan of Tf2 -Minecraft used Tf2 weapon mechanics in 2024 even tho notch isnt a dev of minecraft anymore *Tf2 directly changed minecrafts history in development* (I do think it inspired minecraft, but i also think saying Tf2 changed minecrafts entire history and development is an exaggeration)

It's kind of a match made in heaven, Team Fortress 2 and Minecraft's relationship at least in the early days of both games. I kinda wish they made a full on crossover sometimes, the closest we got to that was the Top Notch hat added to TF2 but only for Notch's account, and the Steve Co crates in Minecraft as a prank and as a protest against Team Fortress's use of micro transactions when crates were introduced.

I would love to see an Infiniminer remaster with more classes, game mechanics, and block types like the lesser known mod for it: Infinifortress.

🤓Actually, Team Fortress Classic is a specific name for the goldsrs port(which is like Team Fortress 1.5). The original mod is just Team Fortress(or you can call it Team Fortress 1)

This has to be a troll. Man says “I’m not just saying this because Minecraft was inspired by Infiniminer and Infiniminer was inspired by TF2” and then does exactly that. He doesn’t give a single way that Notch’s TF2 fandom affected the game; the examples he does give are 1) a single post-Notch update and 2) *community* made gamemodes. When I started watching this video I thought “there’s no way this is JUST about the wind charge and mace, right?” but yes, I was right.

As a former Scout main, Minecraft has become my comfort zone. I'm glad I've found a game where there's no toxicity with voice chat filled with kids yapping on the mic. I've been mainly playing on servers and having fun on Minecraft compared to TF2

Dam didn't expect my comment to be in the video lol. this video did made me realise how tf2 has influenced many ways how we look at making or design a video game in general but I do still think they are completely different e.g Minecraft is a open world TF2 is set maps, Minecraft allows you to change the world/map TF2 doesn't (maby engineer), TF2 as a win condition/goal Minecraft doesn't(at least by the community).but I don't think that was the point of the video but I still wanted to bring it up.this was a vary cool and interesting concept of a video i was glad to hear you out as I do understand (I hope) your view point. How did you not mention the Top Notch from TF2 tho?

One more thing to note - if you crouch, jump and use the Wind Charge at the same time, it will propel you way further into the air. Just like crouch jumping in TF2, which sends you higher into the air while rocket jumping.

OMG. I was testing the new update with some friends and we were joking about how the mace is just like market gardening. I had no idea about this.

Mojang added an achievement called "Who needs rockets?" when you wind charge jump. Although obviously a soldier reference, its funny seeing some people think it was referring to the Elytra and firework rockets.

Freedom and player choice are the most important aspects when making a game in my opinion. Not just minecraft or tf2, but look at hl2 or portal as well, heck, even undertale or deltarune. All these games give a lot of freedom to the player and would you look at that? They're **pretty** damn popular even to this day. Fun fact: undertale is 9 years old

I think in my opinion that that's why Minecraft can never be fully solved or completed, because ya sure, you can get all the achievements, but that doesn't mean you're done with the game, there's still so much more you can do, you can mod, play with friends, family, even people you don't know, much like alot of games, people will always discover something new to solve or to do, you can build endless things, you can connect hundreds of little details, or, you could live, laugh, and love, build a community, an online family, and I don't mean like an actual family, but like friends so close you consider them family, but no matter what, you'll have fun, not just because you're playing Minecraft, but because you might be playing it with friends, or you might not, but either way, it's not about fighting all the fights, or beating all the battles, it's about having fun, and doing what you want, so if you've got friends that have Minecraft, and you wanna play with them, then do, because you never know how much time you have left with them, so even if it's your 9 year old son, grandson, or stepson, aslong as you both like Minecraft, laughter and betrayal can happen, friends can join, chapters started and ended, a new dawn... A new story to be told
