Take a look at full game highlights by Kobe Bryant who scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors | January 22, 2006 Created by GD's Latest Highlights
Similar to when Brett Favre's dad died and he played anyway because his dad would have wanted him to..he threw for like 500 yds and 5 or 6 TDs cant remember exactly but his QB rating was out the roof..
The man single handedly and I mean that literally turned a 20 pt deficit into a 20 pt win. 55 in the second half. There's all time greats who haven't scored 55 in a single game. Just mindblowing. RIP Mamba
Kobe's 81 is way better than Doncic 73, watch the defense of the hawks in that game and compared it to raptors defense. Hawks literally giving luka open lane all the time.
I can't even imagine what it must've been like to be at this game. Fans came to stadium expecting to have a fun time and hopefully see a good game, and end up witnessing a legendary moment in NBA history. Wild.. RIP Kobe.
Imagine scoring 26 in the first half- on pace for 52- and then getting 27 in the 3rd quarter and 28 in the 4th. Just a legend and a legendary performance.
It was more than dedication, it was an obsession. You are correct, Kobe did everything. No part of his game was anything less than all out performances each and every game. This cat never took a play off....NEVER!
Man 18 years ago today , still haven’t gotten this feeling out of my mind And we are approaching the 4 year anniversary of Kobe’s passing, still hard to get over this that we lost him too soon , but this game will be always memorable for this night
@@dontread8186 lmao you mad you will never be as successful as him he was a really good basketball player, donated to charity, build a academy for girls basketball, was a great father, people in the philipppines, Mexico, etc. Know him and respect him they even drew a picture of him in the walls and even on the ground. what do you do? Probaly sit home all day watching TV while your parents buy food so they could feed your fatass. Stop hating on greatness you goof
He has the coolest stroke ever. His jump shot was poetry in motion. It might not have been textbook like curry, but no one’s jump shot looked as good as Kobe’s. Beautiful
I was 10 when he got his first ring and being that my dad was a Lakers fan I made it my team also, throughout the years seem like he was part of our household. I still cry watching videos. Rip Kobe
Brandon Gaines naw you trash, I scored 100 in my career at least on two different 2k games and scored 81 points last week in my career with a 76 overall sharp shooter on HOF The game is just too easy. Especially when 2k literally gives you the options to make god like players
Kobe had 35pts with 7mins left in the 3rd. To think he would score 46 pts in the next 19mins is just insane. It never had the feel of "one of those games" til it became one of those games.
I was thinking the same thing watching this, I was like is he really gonna score 50 in 1.5 quarters? Dude was absolutely unreal. The fans in attendance were the luckiest people in the world. They paid regular prices for one of the best performances ever on a basketball court.
"Modern NBA History" - is that he phrase you use to denigrate the greatest regular season performance in NBA History? Sorry but WILT scored 100 points@@skyh2394
Imagine going to a Laker game as their playing a team that’s not their rivals and you’re just excited to watch Kobe play but not only is he playing phenomenal, you also watch him score 81 points and make history…I would not be able to sleep for the rest of the night. The things I’d do to go back in time and be at this game and witness Kobe living his life again ❤️ Rest in Paradise Mamba & a little mambacita 🙏🏽
I got a tribute tattoo for Kobe tatted on me (I only got 3 tattoos) for multiple reasons. I grew up watching Kobe and and beings Kobe Bryant fan (I was born in 1997), Kobe gave us joy to watch. Kobe reminds us to have confidence. Kobe as a person was so special to watch, from him being a teenager and meeting his beautiful wife Vanessa, to getting in the NBA draft and being the top 5 leading scorers of all time, to him beings great dad I aim to have one day for my future children and to him supporting women’s basketball and retiring but still has so much love for the game so he coaches his daughter and beautiful young girls and continues to give kids someone to look up to even when he’s not physically here with us anymore. Overall, my tattoo is a reminder of someone great who touches my heart & to always have the mamba mentality to keep going, no excuses, don’t give up and like Kobe said it’s not about the destination that’s special it’s the journey that’s special. My tattoo for Kobe is something I cna forget look at and be reminded of so many things but over be reminded of an irreplaceable human who motivates me and many others to keep going for Heather you sim to achieve and more. We miss you Kobe. Till this day I still cry about you and your babygirl Gigi and the world has Vanessa and your girls back forever. We will take care of them from earth Kobe as you take care of them from heaven, we love and miss you Kobe & Gigi. ❤️💔🙏🏽
Maaan because of this 81 point performance the crazy fact that gets overlooked is that he scored 62 straight free throws and the one he missed he rebounded it and put it in the basket!! What a fucking LEGEND
Big chungus nah unlike Hollyweird what I say isn’t scripted nor toxic. Maybe u should stop living in the matrix and take ur head out of your ass maybe you’ll see what I see
Man 16 years ago today, and we're almost approaching the 3 year anniversary of Kobe's Death, it's still hard to get over but man this was absolutely inspiring and what a game this was in 2006
I’m 40. I’ve watched basketball since I was 4. Played it through high school. Saw all the greatest of our time live. I was at that game. It was magical. It was like he was playing second grade kids the whole second half. Never seen anything like it. Hands down #2 to ever touch a ball. If you’re my age or close to it, we got to witness greatness numerous times. Argue over who’s best all ya want. Jordan is 1. Can’t say Kobe because Kobe woulda told ya he’s not Kobe without Jordan. And Lebron is 3 all day. Lebron isn’t a Kobe or a Jordan. But he’s a goat. Thing about goats, they are social animals. We should just all let the goats be goats and live in a herd. Enjoy the game for what it is. If ya don’t like my opinion, that’s cool. You’re entitled to your own. Ball for life.
That's the thing. Regardless of how good he was, when the score is ~110 and one guy got 81, what the fuck where the other people doing. Did the get 1 point a piece?
I got a little bit emotional while watching this, Kobe since the first time I won conscious or knew was special to me, I felt a connection with him. He's a legend, inspiration on it's more pure state, an star, one of the most hardworking persons there has ever been. I'm just glad he happened to exist, he lived and know is and will always be, one shinning star in the sky.
watching these highlights as a kid I always focused on the 81 points but now I'm amazed he single-handedly brought his team back from a 15+ point deficit to win the game
The only bad thing about this performance is that the end is clearly stat-padding. They reached a comfortable lead and he scored like 20 points after that. It was pretty classless
@@chiarosuburekeni9325 who cares? ill never understand why some sports fans are such babies. each team should play ruthlessly to the best of their abilities and shouldn't hold back to make people feel better.
@@chiarosuburekeni9325 when you are playing sport at a high level such as NBA then the most respectful thing to the other team's effort is to answer their feat with the full potential of yourself. And also, his team was losing pretty hard when he wasn't in the "zone" so if he were to back down then the chances of them losing would have increased. And also also, when he is in the "zone" he probably didn't pay much attention to his surroundings and the situation at hand, all he knew was probably just to keep scoring.
/Interesting fact\ Kobe’s grandmother came to this game it was the only game out his whole profesional career she went to and he did not fail to put a smile on her face #ripkobe
Kobe Bryant...you are my favorite basketball player. You still the best. You still the champ and you still the undefeated. Greetings from Nemanian Chuuk State FSM.
Played his entire NBA career for the Lakers too. I always respected him for that as well. RIP Kobe you carved your mark into this sport like a G for sure, but also in the culture of this nation.
you make a very good point. Raptor defenders were either hacking him to force FTs or guarding him closely to make most of his shots "contested". Sure there were a few defensive lapses, including that "why, sure I'll let you come into our zone and make an easy basket" defensive facepalm early on in the game. But most of Mamba's shot-by-shot achievements here were gritty and hard-earned.
It’s Sad that now that he’s gone we realize how much he meant to everyone and how he inspired people from all around the world.. Talk about a wake up call to appreciate those around us .. Miss you Kobe ❤️
I disagree , Kobe was a cherished La figure . Everywhere he went he had love/ this guy was probably the most beloved person in all California !we appreciated Kobe and all he’s done for La
Lewis Bartlett no disrespect, but everyone seems to focus more about Kobe and Gigi .. like the other people got names too .. not just “the other people”
Legendary Kobe game! We will never forget him, not just this game, but ever moment he was on the floor! Thanks to God that we had chance to enjoy Kobe's basketball time! There will never be another Kobe!
No question. Man still had 51 more to go...in the 3rd quarter 😂. Face melt. Mamba is the goat. Anyone who thinks that anyone other then MJ matched him, let alone, thinks they're better then him, are delusional.
It was very satisfying to hear the announcers calling out his score knowing we still had a long way to go. When he had like 60 points with like 6 minutes I was thinking how he gonna get 21 in six minutes. It was like watching a super hero movie lol
This was the best game that Kobe Bryant ever played, before he was retired and passed away, THIS 81 Point game WAS AMAZING 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔👎👎👎👎👎👎👎🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹💐💐💐💐💐👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I remember when this happened, and so many of the haters came out ragging on "selfish Kobe" running up his stats at the expense of the team. They didn't bother to check and realize that this was still a game with six minutes to go, and the Lakers would've lost badly if he hadn't put them on his back and carried them. Incredible performance.
I agree. And as we all know, it was tough for teams to make the playoffs in the West. Sometimes a team would have to win 50 plus games just to make the 8th seed. Every single game counted!
not a lakers fan but this is spot on. it was a shoot-out early on! it's not like when you go watch a break-out recruit playing back in highschool (lebron, zion etc) when they run up 70 points and the final score is 77-9... this was a fairly close game considering. hell, weren't they down by almost 20 at one point? this was a second-half explosion...which makes it even more incredible. 20 points in the last 8-9 minutes of the game. wow
Not gonna lie; almost anytime I see a picture of Kobe like this I start to tear up. He was literally my favorite athlete. It’s still surreal to me that he’s gone. Smh
when i have my house off the ocean, I am gonna have this programmed to turn on every morning to start my day with motivation. Yall start with music. I'll start with Kobe.
This team was trash, they had no choice. Or I should say, Kobe had no choice. Aside from Odom, Chris Mihm and Smush Parker were the only guys who could give you 10 points on a given night, think about it. This is just a fraction of what he was going through back then. There were a lot of games when he literally had to outscore the opposing team on his own for multiple quarters when he was on the floor in order that they could have a chance to win. He wasn't just a teammate, he was the team.
I remember being in college and playing on a basketball court and hearing that this game just happened and thinking there's no way that can be right. It's just mind blowing. I never thought we'd see anything in the modern era even approach Wilt's scoring record, and here's Kobe's second-half performance being 55. I remember he got seriously injured last time he played the Raptors and this was his first game back against them. So, you know with his mentality that he had been visualizing destroying them and getting his pay back. And that's exactly what happened.
@@Ryan-zq3er If you even watch the game, this Lakers is even more trash team, Raptors leads all the way until Kobe gone crazy, Raptors will win easily if not Kobe on that game
81 points 60.9 percent from the field 53.8 percent from the three-point line and 90 percent from the free-throw line. This isn't just a points total but crazy efficiency, ON TOP of all this he clutched up with 55 in the second half alone there are Hall of Famers who had never scored that much in their careers let alone in one half..... this is one of the best performances by any player in NBA history
What’s crazy as well if you look at 7min mark he needed to score 53 points for the score to be up 3 lol and he was avg 40 points the last 12 games at this point. The total score was what 122 to 104. He scored almost 70% of the total teams points lol Kobe is so underrated it’s scary. Kobe had these great performances because the team needed it to win.
love coming back once in a while and watching this. An absolute master class by top 3 greatest basketball players in the world. RIP KOBE you changed the game. The world miss you
@@sequoia1171 wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points! That game was never finished until this very day no disrespect to Kobe Bryant he was awesome!!! So sad he's not with us anymore. ♥️♥️👍👍
I'm 46 years old. I watch all sports. This is the single best performance by any athlete I've ever witnessed! RIP Kobe!! You were my favorite NBA player
Pistol Pete scored 68 points in one game in 1977 Against Earl Monre Of the New yourk Knicks WITH OUT THE 3 POINT LINE ,, Thats up there with this game ..
All these years later.... I'm blessed, i got to see Dr J in his prime, Larry Bird and Magic in their prime. Jordan in his prime, kobe in his prime and Lebron James in his prime. I missed Wilt, but I got a lot.
I was in Iraq when he did this. Even just reading the box score in Stars and Stripes made me forget where I was at for those 3-5 minutes. Thank you for everything Kobe.
Kobe is a legend and this performance adds to his greatness! The mamba is legendary!!! 81 points in the NBA is mind blowing 😮! RIP the truest GOAT in my book
I remember that game so vividly… like everyone. Still got 2 original “81” Kobe t-shirts from the day, or two days after. There will never be another Mamba. RIP my brother. You are missed.
