How I zero my gun. I take at least 3 shots. Then hold my gun on the point of aim and move the reticle onto the centre mass of the 3 shots. It takes away a lot of guesswork and gets you very close to zero. It should only take a few clicks to fine tune then. I know we all have our own way of doing things. By doing this, you can eradicate the chance of a bad pellet (flyer), a gust of wind, or even your hold. I used to do it your way and found I was chasing the zero all over the target, using more pellets than necessary, and getting frustrated in the process. 🥴
Thanks Alan, Back at the beginning, maybe 1974 when I started the sport with a Relem break barrel and Relem Tornado underlever, springers were about the only thing you could buy, less a pneumatic pump-up rifle, even C02 airguns were on FAC back then, I cut my teeth on these old Hungarian rifles and for a lot of that time with open sights, or earlier bad optics and came up with good results all the time. It was a matter of knowing your rifle and hold. It's worth starting off with a springer, just to get the principles of marksmanship right, making PCPs a sniper rifle for anyone. Now that I am in the Autumn of my life PCPs are the easiest option, but springers bring a lot of fun to the equation.

Hi Mark i got myself a tin of the h&n barracuda 8 to try in my springer. I tested them at only 10 meters to see if i could get them to group. They didn't do that good i don't no if was down to the quality of them but most of the pellets skirts were damaged. The jsb 8.44gr 4.52 perform a lot better in my springer.
That's not good, is it. I haven't had any quality issues with H&N. The harder lead mix usually makes them less prone to damage, but bent skirts will definitely affect performance.
Nice job sir!. I'm not to sure if it would work. But it might be possible to shim up them gas rams to adjust the power. I don't think the gas ram is fully compressed when cocked. Might be worth a dabble.
I did think of this. Not sure if they work like a spring under pressure or not. I do know that they are a lot harder to compress than your average spring though. It took all of my 230 Lbs to push down on it, while my daughter punched the pin back in. I wouldn't have been able to have compressed it otherwise without her help, or that of a compressor.

Yes, I think I may try a multi shot springer in the future, and would have done it in the next couple of months, but I have just had to pay out for a new compressor, so I will have to think again in 2024. 3 1/2 years in and my old Warrior compressor needs a total rebuild. It has certainly been a great work horse and has paid for itself. @@airgunsniper-elite7385 I've only 2 springers both budget the best is a Remington Express in 177 at £160 i love it but only doing 10.5 ft/lbs. I have a pcp but only have a hand pump witch is hard work. I can't afford a compressor or tank so a springer does the job. I don't need anything else.
very interesting mate . low power for sure 10.5 i think would make a world of difference for a bit of distance work 9.5 is just a bit underpowered for my liking
Yes, I can't understand the power level. When new, they shoot at around 11 ft/lbs. All I can think of is that if the rams are the same in .22 and .177 then the .22 will give more energy. At least with a spring you can pack them out and they don't loose power unless cocked for long periods.
Good stuff good to see u dont mind shooting breakbarrels everynow a again whats yr final thoughts on the barracuda 8s i only use H&N pellets in my air rifles but havnt tried the 8s yet i have had good success using FTT and terminators and Barracuda hunters for pest work
Hello Adam, I think the new Baracuda 8s are the new best pellet out their. H&N certainly aren't sitting around. So far all the rifles that I have tried them through seem to show that they have the edge over the FTT and Terminators, both of which are an outstanding pellet. I now think that H&N have surpassed JSB in quality and accuracy when it comes to the law of averages, and they don't get knocked out of shape as easily due to the lower lead mix.
@@airgunsniper-elite7385 100 percent right I've been using H&N for a while now and I won't even bother trying others everything about H&N is great from the packaging to the quality of pellets I have never had any dramas with them and I have shot thousands of pellets my rifles seem to love them and don't have to change zero much whenever I swap pellets for different pests I mean a rat or pigeon wouldn't know the difference when hit in the head with a round head or pointed pellet but I've noticed a body shot makes a difference I think the round headed pellets have more knockdown power than pointed but a hollow point like the hunter makes more damage just my 5 cents worth love the vids keep up the good work 👍
do you think a gasram is better with the low power settings in the Uk and even lower germany . the a coil spring , i dont think that . a coil has no friction like the o rings in a gasram. and that friction is a lesser problem in full power versions
Based on my experience with the Gamo gas ram, they do well when first used, but for some reason have lost about 1 1/2 ft/lbs from new. As least with a spring you can shim them. The lock time is a lot faster with the gas ram, and can feel quite harsh. I expect the HW90, which I believe was licensed with Theoben are probably the best ones, although even those are probably a new version of the Theoben ram now. Most of the new rams are unajustable and need replacing when they are no longer any good. At least with the older Theoben and HW90s you could get a special pump to re-pressurise them. I expect you just needed to change the seals in them, when they needed replacing. Blackpool Air Rifles used to sell them, but I think most of the rams now are throw away items and cost around £40 to replace, which is twice that of most custom aftermarket srpings, which are a lot easier to tune by the user over rams which can't be tuned in most cases.
Not impressed at all. 1 set up 100% static firing pos. 2 take shot, adjust scope lateral and vert to meet first shot zero. 2nd shot repeat steps from first process. You are making acurrate rifles look like shit.
