Thunder Cats were before my time, but my uncles put me on when I was mad young. Rented some episodes from Blockbuster and I couldn't front...chills inducing with that opening. Up there with Batman: The Animated Series (my personal favorite), X Men and the Amazing Spider-Man.
All the merchandise were amazing, because of the logo. The board games, books, posters, puzzles, coloring books all had stunning looking cover art. The action figures were very tacky and cheaply made. I remember my Lion-O AA-Battery ring to light his eyes broke after several days of use.
Thundercats, Herculoids, Centurions, Birdman, G force, Swat Cats pre Toonami days on Cartoon Network. Them and Nickelodeon were killing it back in the day Edit: Silverhawks, Voltron, Space Ghost and Ronin/Samurai Warriors too
Thundercats, Silverhawks, Herculoids, Space Ghost, He-Man and The Master Of Universes, Birdman, Galaxy Trio, Thundarr the Barbarian, Snork, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Samson and Goliath, Jonny Quest, Centurions, and many other cartoons were my childhood. I saw these on Cartoon Network back in the day. Thundercats and Superman crossed over in the comics too!
Thanks to you guys, I will never look at this episode the same again, lol... by the way, the voice actor for Panthro is Heathcliff Huxable dad on the Cosby show.
Ok so here is some undiscussed Thundercats lore that I think I picked up on. The planet they are on is called "Third Earth", but I believe it is our Earth in the future. Mumm Ra actually drops some hints here and there about how he was there since it was "First Earth". So maybe Mumm Ra is an Egyptian mummy? That's my head cannon anyway.
Ur RIGHT. Mumm Ra IS based off of n Egyptian mummy. InFACT Thundercats itself has borrowed ALOT of its elements from African sprituality. Da cats lier is based off of Egyptian sphinx. Da eye of Thundera is based off of horus. Da powers dat Lion-o gets from da sword r powers dat da early Egyptians had wen they had opened there 3rd eye. Also da idea dat Mumm Ra recharged himself in his pyramid is not 2 far fetched. Da Egyptians did use 2 draw lightnin from da sky tru da pyramids. Xplains y battery's were found in pyramids.
The late, great Leiji Matsumoto taught me in the original Captain Harlock anime that you should never get involved with suspicious green-skinned women.
@@Rhiorrha Eddie Murphy in his "Delirious" special made a comment about that. "If the bitch is GREEN there's something wrong with the pussy." But like you said James Kirk has no problems with this lol 🤣.
Oh yeah, if you want it to be particularly creepy, the first episode, everyone was NAKED. They added some seamlines to make it look like they were wearing unitards, but no, no. That's like humans wearing flesh colored unitards and the first thing that comes to mind is they're naked.
This wouldn't be the last time Tygra got high on experimental substances. The short lived 2011 reboot also had him act out of character due to a substance that got slipped into his drink.
The hypothetical reboot Thundercats roar the Tygra in that non existent show was a straight man to the team’s nonsense. That version really needed a drink and experimental substances.
As much as I loved Thundercats, the show did NOT age well at all. It's a shame that the show didn't keep the same quality as the opening, which is still amazing over 30 years later.
A lot of the 80s cartoons didn’t keep the same animation quality throughout the show after the opening. G.I. Joe and Transformers were a good example of great openings but subpar animation in the actual episode.
Oh, he was messed up BAD, there. He lost all kinds of weight, his clothes were hanging off him, he had black circles under his eyes. Man, that dude looked like he was messing with smack. He's the poster boy for Third Earth's rehab clinic. Oddly enough he's the only one who's ever in there.
The show came out around the same time as Cartoon All Stars To The Rescue, or at least within a year or two, when they were cramming anti drug messages into everything, Saved By The Bell's "I'm so excited" ep that's still a meme, Dinosaurs' anti drug ep where they asked "Can we start being funny again?" (never funny to begin with), and so on.
Actually in the face "Slythe" or whatever his name was looks much more like the combination of Gollum and the goblins in the Rankin Bass "Hobbit." Gollums lower face and jaw and the goblins eyes and upper face.
Thundercats is strange but a classic. The 2011 series had a lot of potential unfortunately it was cancelled. And the repackaging of it in Lego Chima. Then nothing else came from thudercats since then and u think there is well you were probably hallucinating.
I always thought Thundercats were landed on earth, they're just ancient aliens. The mum-rah thing is just how Egyptians came to adore cats as gods. Either that or I'm the one on too much catnip.
Samurai Champloo Episode 9. Immediately I saw this thumbnail & title I thought, that would be another great episode for anyone who wants to enjoy a well written and fun animated trip fest.👌🏾
The cartoon Bravestar did this so good that it pretty much got the show cancelled. Kids were doing an actual drug I think it was called Crystal Twist, and Marshal Bravestar wasn't there in time to save him. Yeah, a kid died from an overdose on an afternoon kids cartoon. I feel it was more impactful because it was a kid that died showing kids that they will not live forever.
For some reason I get some details mixed up in this world episode, where Tygra gets aged and becomes really thin, I thought it happened in this episode and that he got all messed up looking like a crack addict.
Hey korey I run a channel for lost spill media (If you couldn’t tell by the name) I doubt you’ll read this But I was wondering if you had any reviews that are considered lost
