The periodic table is one of the great devices for memorization. I recommend to you that you memorize the 1st 20 or 30 elements. By doing so, you will have most of the building blocks of chemistry memorized, similar to memorizing the main sequence of stars in re astronomy. The periodic table separates metals from gases, shows the groups who tend to have so many bonding combinations, etc.

For those wondering why Mendeleev choose sanskrit numbers like Eka ,Dvi ,Tri as prefixes for some elements, Wikipedia states that he heard from his friend Otto Von Böhtlingk , who was writing a book about the Sanskrit grammarian Panini, who had also similarly arranged the Sanskrit alphabets by their phonetic properties ; hence the reference

That wasn't his only achievement. He was so smart that he grouped the elements in such a way that it wouldn't disturb the group of noble gasses (group 18, period 1-7) Noble gasses were not discovered at the time and when they were, an eighteenth group was created to not disturb the existing order.

Sodium and chloride walked into a bar and ordered a round of cocktails. Moments later the police showed up, and placed them both under arrest. Sodium asked “why am I being arrested?” The police replied “for a salt”

;) Adorei... Me apaixonei por todos os vídeos desse canal. Muito bom!!! Veio aquele momento de decepção quando Mendeleev não recebe nenhuma nomeação pelo menos. Mas aí vem o contraste do elemento em sua homenagem, o mendelévio :D

Don't y'all think that, Mandeleev's periodic table has been replaced by Henry Mosley's modern periodic table.

Mendeleev made his own periodic table, but the table that we use today , Modern Periodic Table , was not done by Mendeleev. It was done by Henry Mosley and 3 other scientists. But the stepping stones for the Modern Periodic Table are 100% derived from Mendeleev's Periodic Table. Things like classification of elements in the form of periods and groups and also using a tabular form. He also classified the elements on the basis of oxides and hydrides and also corrected the atomic mass of many elements. Obviously, the greatest part of his Table was leaving empty spaces for future elements to be placed. Even after how great the table was it had some serious disadvantages:- 1)It could not explain the position of hydrogen . This is still a problem in Modern Periodic Table, but we have kind off resolved by giving hydrogen a completely different position in the Modern Periodic Table. You might have observed that all elements touch each other in the modern periodic table except hydrogen. 2)The elements were classified on the basis of their atomic mass. If arranging elements using atomic mass sounds wrong to you or you have a question as to why atomic mass is not good for classification, then let me explain. If we use atomic mass for classification of elements, then we will also have to include the isotopes (elements with same atomic number, but different atomic mass. Eg. Hydrogen has 3 different isotopes)of all elements in his Periodic Table . If we had to do this then his table would be incredibly large and would be impossible for remembering. 3)Since he used atomic mass for classification, others questioned him as to why he didn't include all the isotopes of all the elements. These 3 are the reasons why we don't use Mendeleev's Periodic Table

here is the problem the table which you are referring to on cups t shirts etc. it is the modern periodic table and it was developed by Henry Moseley and is based on atomic number whereas the one given by Mendeleev was based on atomic mass reason why it had so many anomalies so Moseley just improvised it

Still he is called the father of periodic table. And the video credited him for successfully predicting new elements. Also the new periodic table was developed after the new concept of atomic structure was proposed by Neil Bohr in 1913. Mendeleev's died before that. The new one was based upon his work.

He was the first to classify all the elements known...he led the way for the modern periodic table..otherwise, it would not be created
