He’s actually trying to hit in the dimple for more consistent roll. If he were trying to hit the edge of the dimples he would line it up with the -pv1x line already on the ball. They put those lines exactly where the cover of the ball seems together forming a line all the way around the ball where dimples meet up

@@matthewwylie6707 The marks on golf balls do not precisely follow the seam of a ball, if indeed the seam is visible, which on many brands it isn't. I just looked at a sleeve of Pro V, and the line isn't consistently accurate. Besides, there's nothing to say that hitting a ball precisely on a single dimple, which would be impossible to do remotely consistently with the exact point of an already uneven putter face would make it roll better. It's just a theory he has, and not one he has proven to work, just that it makes him feel comfortable, like a Nadal tic, driver waggle etc.

Every pool game has this. Love how he took it into golf. Makes total sense. Its really a cheat code in a way. In pool you can control how it rolls how it spins and how fast you want it. I think this is the same for golf. But still incredibly hard when you think of how far you are to the ball. And what you use to hit it. Golf is hard af! Anything that can make it easier is best

If you think something works for you, then it will. You make the reality in golf. Same as using a line up mark when putting, all the tests have (apparently) shown that if you believe this helps you then it actually does, if you don't believe it worls for you then it doesn't. The effects are in your own head, but doesn't mean they aren't real.

The putter imparts over spin on the golf ball. For short, relatively straight putts, this method works well.

I'll be honest, this is veey far my preferred style of golf. Some of my favorites are those guys who could pick up a 100 year old club or their brand new set and gold through feel. The guys who can just pick up and play the game and feel their way through. Respect to Bryson, he's great and his methods are proven

Back when the ProV1 replaced the softer Balata -rubber band balls the percentage of putts made from 10ft and in decreased which led to putting the polymer inserts in the putter faces to compensate. With the thin cover and hard plastic mantle a Pro V1 will slide | --> before friction with the ground starts it rolling ((((( Getting it rolling ASAP after impact |>(((( gives the ball more gyroscopic stability.

Its not about the dots working or not, its about the consistency of his technique and him being so in tuned with his swing. If this works for another 100 people or it works for another 1 person, doesn't really matter. It's given Bryson the consistency he needed to dial in his putt.

Manufacturer should pre-paint those thin sighting lines on the ball for his signature series of balls. I’d like an aiming line to verify roll, etc. and keep you on a line of dimples like he is saying.

I try to look at the dimples pattern to draw the line on the ball, I also choose the impact point like he does. I’ve doing this for a few years now, and my numbers of putts decreased considerably.

Before we were allowed to make alignment marks, I'd always put the number facing where I wanted to make putter impact. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if your flat putter face hits different edges of the dimple pattern on each putt, it could create variation in how the ball comes off. Reducing variability and building consistency is how even average golfers can improve.

In the old days the Titleist balatas were pressed together and they had a ridge that went around the entire ball that had no dimples on it it was a little flat spot and you would line up your mark with that thing right on there. It totally works

This year, Titleist sent a few home viewers, Golfball GPS Stuff, so that at home viewers can actually keep track of televised golf scores without watching. Sort of like The Crooked Stick Lightening Detector 1997-1999. And all the television golfers get GPSchip monitored balls and some spectators get to take the fun out of the sport of golf.

For people who didn't watch the video it's not about the dimples being lined up, its about contact. At slow speeds hitting the wrong part of the dimple can cause it to deviate a fraction of a degree. Now to us that doesn't matter but for someone that one putt can be the difference, yeah it matters

As much as I love how interested Dechambeau is in the science of everything. We all have to admit one thing, has it really made a difference at the end of the day? Tiger never went to these lengths and he was the best way may ever see. Just remember that. Natural skill trumps everything. It always has.

Tiger (started by his dad) practiced more and more specifically, than almost any other pro, EVER. (same with Michael Jordan). John Daly has more natural skill in his drunken pinkie finger than Tiger has in his whole body. And Bryson has less natural ability than most pro golfers. He has taken evaluating every little detail and measuring every bit of his swing and clubs, that he can compete with people who have FAR MORE natural ability.

crazy that Cameron mills their putter faces to soften the impact, but the milling also imparts a non-flat surface that would potentially render Bryson's reasoning less compelling.

Sort of silly, but if you believe it, then go for it. When a putt rolls on grass, every blade of grass is making some contact with the ball thus affecting its trajectory. The UPS and DOWNS of the dimples on the golf ball are spread out as it rolls on the grass. The idea that lining up particular dimples, when in reality the ball is rolling on the grass with more than a 1/2" of spread of dimples, and you thinking this actually works is nothing more than, "If you think it works, then it works."
