Thank goodness to the boarder for intervening and to the Gentle Barn for the rescue. What a satisfying feeling it must be to know that you've given this senior citizen what he deserved for 4 years.
Love you Ellie, reading your book and I am being transformed along with the animals I have saved that are at my house... nothing like what you do but I am just wanting to come to gentle barn ;) and be in that energy where there are humans with similar energy as mine.... sending all ourlove from Montreal
I'm crying like a baby right now! It breaks my heart that someone would dump a beautiful, loving horse and someone who looks after horses would be hateful and treat him like he was useless! No one should ever board horses at that place! So glad this sweet creature experienced love and friendship! God bless you for saving him! RIP sweet baby and run free in Heaven!
OMG the tears are rolling down my face. Thank you Gentle Barn for giving him so much love in his last years. You guys are amazing. RIP dear sweet Prince
animals make this planet worth living on. I hug my dogs everyday and let them know what they mean to me and I am more than sure they know how much I love them. I am so happy to know that this wonderful horse had a chance to know that some people are good. thank you gentle barn for showing him love.
I'm so sorry to hear you have lost this beautiful magnificent animal. I cried as i watched the video, knowing he was gone, but my heart was warmed knowing that you provided a peaceful home to live out his days. bless you for what you do!
What wonderful work you do Gentle Barn! The horses expression completely changed from the beginning to the end. He KNEW he had been rescued! A simply lovely story! So trusting animals and we humans really should be hung and strung!
Did you ever find out this horse's history? He obviously has known kind handling... probably someones show horse, or in the least a good trail horse. The economy has been so bad... and stabling is so expensive. Could be the owner's hit a bad patch and thought the horse's appearance and demeanor would make him useful at the boarding stable. Just wondering what you have learned about him and what became of him.
Well, blessed be dear boy. And, to them that tolerate us humans. Thank you for your rescue work. And, I hope those at the boarding facility understand they might want to take a good look at the owner who would shoot a horse as such. I would have moved my horse immediately. You all did the good, kind thing. You teach your children well.
I am sorry for your loss. He will now roam the vast expanses of heaven with his friends and family, never to know sadness, fear, pain, sickness or hunger again. God Bless you for what you do and Thank you.
Saying "farewell" with love is bittersweet. What wonderful last years of life he had with you all at The Gentle Barn. Prince Charming will now surely rest in peace.
You are so right! what an injustice and people can be heartless and ungrateful. God bless what you do. keep up your gracious work I'm sure and hopeful donations will be gladly given.
I love the work the Gentle Barn does and I hesitate to say anything negative. But as a fellow horse person, I have to speak. Please don't trailer your horses with a window open like that. That horse was leaving a place that we know as horrid but to him, was his home whether good or bad. Have you ever dealt with or seen a horse try to climb out a window when leaving a familiar place? It's not pretty. Just a word of advice.
Charming is so majestic, so beautiful, why would anybody want to hurt him? Straight away he knew who his Mummy and Daddy are!.Thank heavens for Ellie, Jay, and the Gentle Barn. One day I'd love to visit America as I think America is awesome and when I do I'm going to the Gentle Barn. Lot's of vegan hugs & kisses from Australia.xoxoxo.
I cried through this entire video. Thank goodness there are good people in this world and that boarder spoke up. People don't see that horses like many animals, dedicate their lives to humans and then they see them as worthless in the end? How dare this man even think of shooting this horse. There are more responsible ways of doing things. Animals are not disposable even if they are dropped off by some irresponsible person. Do the right thing, people! Thank you to the gentle barn. My gratitude is so deep.
This poor horse the owners tie him to a post at a stable and then a evil stable owner wants to shoot the horse. If I boarded a horse there I would be looking for a new stable because I wouldn't risk having my horse any ware near that piece of garbage. That man should not be any ware near any animal.
My guess is that they only let him have his head out the window so she could get that part on camera for this video since it was still on the man's property and not main roads. I'm assuming they secured him once she got that part filmed, and before they hit the road on their way back to the barn. :)
What a beautiful horse. He does not deserve any of what was being done to him. He was used and abused for twenty years and when He was old he was discarded by some sneaky spineless owner who was a coward and did not want people to see what a wretched human being he was. Then the person who he was left with was going to shoot him in the head just for being an old horse. Thank God for human beings that have souls and hearts and know that animals feel joy and pain and sadness and thank God they intervened and found the Gentle Barn. This story has such a happy ending that my tears are more of joy than sadness now.
