the GET OUT Swim 

The best get-out swim that I never had to do involved a teammate of mine having to finish an 800 IM under 9:00 minutes. It was a glorious day when they touched at 8:55

Just seeing this title brought tears to my eyes. Took me back some 45 years to Foxcatcher, when I was a kid. On lucky days, my coach would stop the practice a few minutes early and then pick two swimmers. They'd never do the same race. For instance, he'd pick a guy to do a 200 back next to a girl swimming a 200 free. Always made sure it would be a close race. We got to pick which swimmer we thought would win and sit on "their" side of the pool. If your swimmer won, you got to go home. The side w/the losing swimmer had to complete the last set for workout. Haven't thought about that in decades. Of course, thanks to DuPont murdering that wrestler, Foxcatcher is long gone and happy memories are all that remain. Still the greatest pool I've ever swum in. When you turn your head to breathe and see a wild peacock standing on the deck, even as a kid you know it's unique. Thanks so much for this video!

My best “get out swim”: I’m in my high school’s swim team and during this year’s hell week we had an unique set. You had to pick an event and guess what time you were gonna go. Depending on how close your actual time was to your guess gave the team points and a certain amount of points ended the set. If you managed to get within .01 seconds of the guess, then it was a get out swim and we start cool down. We persuaded a teammate to guess a 28.69 for a 50 free (because we’re high school boys. What did you expect). He ended up with a 29 something, I forget. I couldn’t let the dream die so I guessed the same. I had touched the wall with an exact 28.69 and became king for a day.

I had a get out swim yesterday where I needed to be like within 2 secs of my pr or else the whole team would need to do a whole other set I failed and I think my team hates me lol

back when i was an age grouper, we had a personal get-out swim, meaning if you went a certain time you were out for the day. the set was 8 x 200 on 8:00, long course best average, 100 kick 100 swim. if you were within 25 seconds of your best 200 time, you were done for the day. at 14 i was a 2:02 in the 200 free and a darn good kicker, so i figured i had a chance. ended up kicking at 1:21 on the kick and 1:05 on the swim on the second one and managed to get out. the only other person who got out was an 18 year old who kicked roughly the same speed as me but had to go a :59 on the back 100 to make it, best time was in the mid-1:50's. still remember it to this day

The best get out of practice swim was when I was 15. We had an oxygen tank. Took 3-4 big breaths. Went underwater for 50 meters. Four of us did it. Out of practice we went!!! Best fun, ever!!!

My second year swimming ever I was a sophomore in high school and my coach challenged me to a 200IM. I dropped 8 seconds and beat him by 10 seconds. It’s awesome to see how far I’ve come since then. Went a 2:26 in that and now I’m going a 2:03.

The best/hardest get out set I had to do was a 1600m IM and I had to do it in under 25 mins (I was around 11 or 12 at the time) Luckily it was a Saturday set and I slept for a good 5 hours once I got home. I also made the time so the squad got a 20 minute early mark however I would have much rather done the full 25x100m we were supposed to do…

I’m 14 and I remember in December just before taper, we had 7*100 on 3:30 and if we all hit +2 race pace from the blocks we were fine. My 100 free is 49 so that was pain

Last year right before a champs meet we didn’t really have much to do so my coach told us if we get within 2 seconds of our 50 time we could leave. I PRed and got a BB time for the first time by .01

Saw Cody’s 1breast at the pro swim series today. Really missing the days where Ethan, Ashley, Gary, Sami, Blake were in the vlog.

My coach had me and 2 other swimmers do a get out swim. We had todo a 75 (yards) and be under 51 seconds. If we did it we got to cool down and get out. It was a lot of pain but we did it. 🎉

1972 I did a 1:54 for 200 freestyle water start and I was a breaststroker - never swam a 200 free in a swim meet . Love watching your v blog

We have a chance at get out swims once every month. Usually it will be pertaining to what we are working on in that practice but sometimes it is looking at upcoming meets and events everyone is swimming. But our coach only lets us out if everyone accomplishes the swim. 😁

Cody I had a swim meet at patriot aquatics in Altamonte springs Florida. I swam 100 free and went 59.47 that was my pb.

Cody I wish our swim clinic with Todd DeSorbo in April was you instead of Todd DeSorbo. But in Todd DeSorbo defense he did train NC State swim team but it would be funner and cooler if it was you instead of him(Todd DeSorbo).

Μy nose is stuffy after swimming what should I do? It's so annoying....

Yesterday i did a "get out swim" not really but we had 8 x 100 free holding a 1:14 -1:10 the the last one we did race pace i managed to get a 1:04 a second from my PB as in galas (meets) i go a 1:03 after this we did 4x 50 and if we kept pace we could get out my pace i had to keep was a 35 i managed to stick a 32 for the 1st one the i went a 34 for the second 2 and the last one i came on a 31 ( im still 14 so these times might not seem to fast for some)

Best get out swim I have ever done was a 100 free, I was within .2 of my best time and went 49.6.

Not exactly a get out swim but when I was 10 our coach gave us a set 6x100 goal=PB+2% but if you went under your PB you only had to do 3. My coach had told me I had to go under 1:40 (or whatever my pb was) and I didn't know that that was my pb so I was like that's easy and I PB'd all 3 100s I did. The older kids all had to do all 6. Off the top of my head no one has actually succeeded in their get out swims where it's been an event FAS sp.

I'm like 13 yrs old from China and we would do lots of 200s with 100m butterfly and 100m free, and if you aren't under like a 1sec range from your pb you'll have to continue to do it. It was hard for me, but I did it :)

the hardest set i did was 200x50 on the 1:40 All FLYYYY

I think the worst one I have done was at the end of a lactate set, and we had to do a broken 150 (by 50) with 10 sec in between. We had to hit under 1:30 which isn’t awful but after a race pace practice we were all dead.

Not sure Cody is going to break 1:00 again in the 100 breast. Maybe the 200 would be his better event, but don't see him breaking 2:10.

On Friday my friend did a 400 free under 5 minutes for us to get out 30 minutes early, and my other friends did a 50 no breath

Hello Cody. I just wanted to tell you my torture morning practice main set. It is Called big stinky 4x100 fly 1x400 IM 4x100 free 1x400 free 4x100 back 1x400 IM 4x100 free 1x400 free 4x100 Brest 1x400 IM 4x100 free 1x400 free Now keep in mains all of this is FAST. And when I coach if I could do survival fly he said no. I couldn’t feel my legs or arms at ALL and I nearly threw up multiple times. This set is traumatizing.

I did a 200 back get out swim I had to be within half a second of my best time went 1:59.28 needed to go 1:59.22
