If I remember correctly, the special thing about the late game Getae sword infantry is that it draws from freeman population. So I guess that's why it's considered an imitation legionaire.

Another great video, very thorough and very entertaining! I'd like to see a Parthia overview next, it is by far the most frustrating campaign in DEI in my opinion, I've had no luck whatsoever in my tries. It'd be cool to see you have a shot at and reviewing it.
@Immersaholic
@Immersaholic 3 года назад
Thanks for the suggestion mate! I sincerely appreciate your time. I love Parthia as a faction so I'll definitely consider them for one of my next factions. I reckon it'd be interesting to try a migration campaign as them at some point too. I might have to consider a small campaign as them eventually perhaps.

I suck at horse majority armies. I love them just terrible with them. Fighting and using them. I play as sparta all the time but the manpower shortage kills me. While other factions bring stacks of troops I can only raise 1. Love it tho.

Been started playing Rome 2 for the first time and tried to play with this faction for like 10 times, but don t want to give up yet, I like this faction as they were the only ones to opose real threat to Rome for centuries up untill the day Traian send all the roman might and conquered them, eventualy 😒 Oh and another cool fact about this was that Great Rome was paying tribute in gold for them to stay within their borders. Also they were the only civilisation back then to believe in immortality of the soul and rebirth on another world after death, so much alike the vikings, they were happy to die in battle to be reborn
@Immersaholic

Interesting stuff mate! At least if you can survive the early game though then taking on the Romans is easy with your crazy AP damage.

In Germanic tribes everyone was a warrior no peasants exist, they eat most of the time meat, Milk and eggs, the slaves were mostly sold at rome, greece states etc only a few work for them. Everyone must fight in the tribes and it was a pleasure to die in Battle. You see, getae was not the only one

@@anthonymaximus8561 Dacians are older than germanic tribes ,thus more advanced ,in culture , philosophy, weaponry and so on ,I mean germanic tribes were living in the forests ,inventing fire if you know what I mean ,and about Immortality yes ,many believed in it but none of them as being reborn on another mortal plane ,much like reincarnation thing, all others believed in eternal life in heavens ,valhallas and other crap

@@Immersaholic I saw them yesterday. Nice job , the city battle against atropaktan was great. Im my getae campaing i didnt lost malva because bastarnoz served as buffer zone but after conquering daci i went to navisos epidambos till i foun the oportunity to side with athens and sparta to take pella so there is capital now. Maybe for your campain of parthia stabilizing yourself around asia in ephesus ancyra would be super because in lvl 3 small capital you get acces to nice infatry units and resources to . These garisons are easy because are low armored celts and citizen greks that parthian archer can take over easy. Same i did with my asian campaing with the getae archers.

There will be some minor changes such as unit stats and abilities being slightly altered and there is now the wonder update that put a wonder next to the Getae starting territory but overall I don't believe their campaign has changed all that much. I think daco is pronounced As “da-co”, not “day-co”. Apart from that, great overview about one of my favourite factions in the mod, next to the entire Gaul/Celtic factions and the steppe nomads. Though I can never commit to finishing a campaign with them in the grand-campaign as starting economy and military is hard to balance for me, even on normal EDIT: I wonder if you should go over the starting mission chapters of the factions you overview, and go over whether or not they might be worth it. And also maybe go over the victory conditions, as I think they can influence the way you play out your campaigns as well as how it affect your decision making.
@Immersaholic
@Immersaholic 3 года назад
Thanks for watching the video mate I appreciate it! I've heard it pronounced differently so many times haha, I'll have to look into it to be sure. I've thought about going over the victory conditions but to be honest I've never played any total war campaign to complete those objectives and I hunderds of hours in multiple games. I've just never cared for them. I could possibly mention the side/bonus objectives as I guess it does offer some direction to the faction, usually in the form of telling you who to declare war on and such. But again I haven't paid too much attention to them before. Thank you for your suggestions mate, I'll definitely consider them for future videos.

hey mate, great content, thanks for your work ! I'm struggling a lot with getae on very hard difficulty on 1.33. First time on my life I find a campaign just impossible. I did multiple restarts with lots of different strategies and all failed. Daci and Apulii have just a better infantry at the start, that they can recruit turn one, no need of military building : carpe infantry. Same price as my peasant, but very very strong. That's unfair, I can t compete :/ It is very bad idea to consolidate because we have no money and neighbours will have 2 full stack each if we let them. So we have to rush. Even the first rush against daci is tough but doable, by recruting mercenaries. Then Apulii... The only time I manage to take the big city was because of a great luck. Apuli declared war against celts and was beaten, then I took the city quite undefended et even there, it was a challenge because of the big garrison. Then, I never managed to take bastarnes territory because of revolt, and celts declared war on me. So I'm unable to consolidate, being constantly under pressure. With 3 provinces (2 small and 1 big city), my best was to afford 1.5 full stack. And all the neighbour with only 1 settlement, can muster 2 or even 3 full stacks with better infantry. And when I say I can have 1.5 full stack, it is with full komatai cheap unit, some falx to flank, some archers, and 4 generals with heavy cav. 1 vs 1, I managed quit well with this build, but ennemies are just too numerous and their infantry so strong. Am I missing something ? Maybe you or someone else have some advices to help me :)
@frenchdoomer9646
@frenchdoomer9646 6 месяцев назад
actually I might have found a solution. I went against the celts first because it is closer and the battle is winnable. Then I sack, ask for peace for money (because I'am constantly in negative...). And maybe, if Apuli IA make bad moves, I can take advantage of this and take their city :) I'll tell you if it is working
@frenchdoomer9646
@frenchdoomer9646 6 месяцев назад
actually this strategy worked. First attacking celts, sack and demand money for peace, and the, attack apulii, which abandonned his city. The key is to let neighbours leave their city to attack, because it is impossible to win otherwise. I managed to unify Dacia turn 17, and to win against bastarnes this way. Whooa ! this was really difficult and this campaign is not won yet. If AI let me consolidate a few turn, I may survive.

Wow it sounds like you've had a crazy campaign mate! It's been a long time since I checked out this faction so I definitely need to redo it again soon. When you do a unit overview,could you do it in real battle,like set the entire roster on a line in flat plain or a special map from multiplayer and you do a overview in pause After that you could just click the play button and while continue the review we could see some cinematic shot of the faction being reviewed clash with full stack of of roman best legion and unit😂😂😂😂

Dacians and Getae were a Thracian tribe divided în two by the Danube. Dacians were close to the Carpathian Mountains and Getae were below the Danube together with the Thracians. The closest nation to Getae-Dacian-Thracians, are the old Iliryians, which are the nowadats Albanians.

They aren't really master of anything are they? They have some pretty solid hoplite-style units though which is rare for a barbarian faction. Their late tier units are quite decent after reforms BUT you have to survive until the late game for them. But when we compare them to the Nomads and Germans they easily get wiped almost across the board. The Scordisci who are just next to the Getae are pretty similar in being lackluster too.
