Nice little pack. I used the Mariposa 60 for while and really liked it (had to buy another backpack because I also suffer from needing to try new gear even though my current gear is fine). Only minor complaint is that the top zipper pocket isn't very useful for anything but maps/ papers since it gets folded over the top. Also, don't write off the importance of being able to run with your pack. The huskies and I got charged by a bull while hiking to Eagle Rock. I took off running, dragging the dogs behind me. Luckily, a couple ladies on horseback showed up and escorted us out showing the bull who was boss (wasn't me, that's for sure.)
@@HeyItsTim OK thanks. Jeez, wonder what the heck up with that. I think was telling you how much I liked your new GG pack! Their Fast Pack is great and I like the price compared to many of the others. I am a GG guy too. As far at the hiking poles. I use GGs LightTrek Pack Bungee Attachment on my 2 GG packs. $5 from GG. Whew Hope that works.
Nice video Tim. I’m looking forward to ur next one - good, bad or indifferent about the GG FK, I’m anxious to know. I think I too have a backpack “problem”. This summer I was choosing between the GG Kumo Fast Pack and some other GG packs, but primarily as a day pack/travel pack. I chose the Loris 25, and also purchased the Bumster, which I really appreciate on an every day basis. The Loris is quite comfortable even though I have bad shoulders. Those shoulders are my main issue when buying a pack, and not being able to try before I buy makes me shy away from packs designed to be beltless, concerned that my shoulders would have to take the whole load.
Yes, it's always hard to buy online. I think the vest style packs are better for the shoulder weight due to the way it transfers load in your chest and torso, if the chest part goes low enough. I would say that the FK is a little too high to that effectively. I mean the harness system and sternum straps are way too high in my opinion, up by my neck. My Volpi straps are much lower. Otherwise, a good hip belt is good too. Whatever gets you out there in the wild-er-ness.
