@@starlight3054 they are cringy + they do it on purpose for 10min+ ads and after that they don't care much about the song more than getting $$$ from patreons lulz
“They have lots of songs with cleans, especially the singles and tracks with music videos.” “They do cleans all the time.” Did you guys just now start listening to the band? Their first two albums have not one second of cleans. Their third album has “Engine 45” and another track or two that sorta has cleans. That’s 3/4 of their discography with no, or barely any, cleans. Hardly “lots of songs” or “all the time.” They do have more albums other than “Dear Youth”...just in case y’all were wondering. And that album only has a few songs with cleans, but it’s nothing really over-the-top. Mostly subtle background cleans to accompany a screaming chorus. And at least two of the songs that have cleans, they are done by a guest vocalist and not Jonathan Vigil, so there’s that. I would say around 90-95% of all the songs they’ve released do not have cleans. Bands like Killswitch Engage “do cleans all the time.” Do some research. The Ghost Inside has two, complete albums with ZERO cleans. I was referring mainly to the official videos they’ve released that feature cleans...”Engine 45” and “Afternath”...both of which feature cleans very prominently. Those are the only two that Galactic has watched, and he doesn’t like cleans, so I was encouraging him to watch their other videos...none of which feature cleans as prominently as those two, if at all. The majority of their videos have no cleans. I like cleans, btw, just trying to persuade Galactic to keep giving this great band a chance. He needs to watch the videos for “Faith Or Forgiveness”...”Chrono”...”Unspoken”...”Between The Lines”...and “The Great Unknown”. Not a clean to be found.
I can’t believe there are people that continually overlook their first two albums. They’re incredible and represent more of what the band actually sounds like. You can yell Jeremy from ADTR had a heavy hand producing this track.
Nolan Kuffner my comment wasn’t a slight at McKinnon or the band. I’m almost 30 so I’ve been with these guys from the beginning. I love this song and this album. I ride or die for this band. I agree with everything you said though. Bands grow and change as they should.
I'm the kind of person that doesn't really listen to bands that can't produce a good album experience, Get what you give is great and i reckon is helped by some of the clean or at least cleaner singing in some of the tracks cause it helps everything not sound like the exact same song compared to Knocked Looses new LP, which i liked their singles but the album sounds like the same breakdown the whole way but i digress, in the end i think its kind of useless sometimes to judge a band on the one song from a LP which in my eyes should be more judged on the entire experience
The part that is most amazing about this song is the message. Breaking the chains of addiction are tough and this band has had no short of experience of tragedy and dealing with that stuff. In the video a wolf is licking a blade dipped in blood and is a example of a native Inuit hunting technique to rid them of the wolves they lived so closely to. With every lick of the blade the wolves are leaving tiny incisions in their tongues, bleeding them out little by little and in their own passion to get what they crave it leads them to an early grave. And in a lot of ways we as people with our addictions to drugs and other things are a lot like those wolves.
Same. Cigs. Its killing me. Alot of shit is killing me. Mentally. This song is my masterpiece for the moment, I'm sure ima listen to this song 1000 more times. Made me cry when I first heard it. I dunno why exactly. Shit hit me like a metal bat to the back of my head. Sobbing uncontrollably. Fucking wierd I have never done that before
No. This is not the song that well represents them and certainly isn’t the song that got my attention. They have 2 albums before this one that are phenomenal. I like this song but it’s not their best song. Check out “Between the Lines” and “Faith or Forgiveness”. Those songs represent their sound more.
I made a new account but I've been loving your reviews for a long time and learned a lot of great music. Always been a bearded metalheads. U kill it brother keep doing these awesome reviews
you should've went for tracks Dear Youth, Avalanche, Mercy, Dark Horse , thirty three, deceiver, Chrono (older than Engine 45) and it has the Taka Taka you were expecting!
It fascinates me that some people never mature out of the screaming only “taka taka” phase. I can still get down to it but it’s no different then rap in that regard, you’re just listening for the groove and vibe. But songs like this and songs with cleans and melodies have SO much more to them musically and emotionally that your screaming only “taka taka” songs could ever achieve. This is much closer to real music and it has a soul to it. But you wouldn’t understand that because apparently you still have the music taste of me at 16 years old. Truly bizarre.
Me personally, I love the end of that song, because there are so many layers, so many single instruments that are so fucking great on their own but that make a complete unit so that I can discover something new even after listening to that song for so many years on repeat. But that's the great thing in music, isn't it? Everybody got his own taste and everybody brings some more variousity in the vast spectrum of music. And I like that you are honest with your opinion and don't pretend to like what you don't like. That's true honesty and that's good.
Little fun fact behind the “addiction” as you see the wolf licking the knife , he is addicted to the seal blood. There were some Eskimo tribes who used to hunt and have to kill the wolf for safety , food and pelts. They realized just how dangerous wolves are. They adapted fast. They used to dip knives into seal blood and let it freeze over then dip it again. Once it’s thickly Coated in seal blood they stick them in the ground as you see in the video. The wolf starts licking away. He’s licking so much his tongue becomes numb thus the wolf licking away and not even noticing that he is licking bare blade and draining is own blood and ends up dying. This is how the Eskimo’s used to kill the wolves
Hey man, thanks for reminding me of this song! It meant a lot back then and it really bring out some memories! Regarding The Ghost Inside you really have to listen to their first album if you are still willing to give them a chance, but listen to it the whole thing! It really have that pressure into your heart without any clean singing etc. Cheers and have a good one!
I reallllllyyyyyyy believe their very first album is more for you. Its originally what got me into the band. At the time, it was so fresh sounding. It had the brutality of a old school metalcore band blended with a real melodic hardcore sound that left you wanting more. After that album, their later releases were solid enough for me to continue wanting more and more. But yeah if someone can help suggest a song from that album, thatd be awesome! All those songs are great
Gained you another subscriber today man, been watching some of your videos and I'm loving the reactions, I noticed you haven't revisited Gojira since you did Stranded but I would highly suggest checking out "In The Wilderness" by Gojira fucking mind-blowing masterpiece of a song
You should react to "Unspoken" next, Buddy. It was the first Song i ever heard by these guys. And i was in love with it from the first second. 😍🤘 Love your reactions. Keep up the awesome work. 🤘 Greetings from Germany
Dude, You have really picked another of the few tracks with cleans lol. Give it a try to something like Chonos, White Light, Test the limits, Dear Youth, etc.
You should check out their music video of Aftermath, as it’s their first new song since their accident and hospitalization. The drummer lost his leg, and now walks with a normal prosthetic, and plays with a unique one for drumming.
I get your point here. For me too this was the first song I ever heard from them. They usually play this one last at their shows as a good ending where the whole crowd can sing along. If possible they ask the fans to come on stage for that, you can find numerous videos here on RU-vid. Songs like "Slipping away" are much harder and don't change direction.Just take your time and digg a bit deeper
Mercy, The Great Unknown, Faith Or Forgiveness, Dark Horse, Outlive man they have a lot songs that hit hard all the way thru, and most of them don’t start singing. So far you’ve found 2 of the few that do that lol
I've been friends with Vigil since around 2010 or so? I can tell you that this song was largely popularized by being one of the first times they added clean vocals to a track, and the fact it is followed up with a really emotional ending. Personally, this song doesn't encompass what made TGI great for me. From a fan who's been here since the beginning, I ask you to PLEASE listen to Slipping Away off this album. Even Outlive would likely hit you better with the heavy ending you were craving. They likely won't ever go back to having that type of ferocity, which is fine for me as I am growing older with my musical tastes evolving, but I would love to see you genuinely appreciate some of the incredible heavier songs these guys have made.
Between the lines, unspoken, the great unknown, test the limits. You probably wont give them another shot, it's cool. To each their own brother. They're hands down my favorite band. I've seen them live so many times I cant count it on my fingers and toes. For me, they're great. They're the best. I'm glad you gave them w second shot though. Honest. Have a killer night, fella.
TGI was my longest running favorite band of my life (4 years) that said it was THIS song where I knew they were no longer my favorite. I still supported them after this but this was a DRASTICALLY different direction for them. Listen to any track from the first two albums and you'll hear more of the sound you liked in the beginning of this song except 10x better. Specifically the returners album.
If you want to check out one more song by them I’d say Mercy otherwise goto their first album. But for other bass I’d say check out back to zero by breakdown of sanity, trophies of violence by while she sleeps and tower of pain by fit for a king
If you're looking for something that's just non-stop heavy check out Mercy, Test the Limits, With the Wolves or Out of Control. Based on what you're saying with the review you may dig their first two albums more. Give them a shot, if the bands not for you then they're not for you at least you're giving the viewers the content they're asking for.
You need to read my comment. Everyone that got into the band because of this song was never a real fan. It means they found the band only because of their accident. You need to check out their old stuff like BLUE AND GOLD
The whole album 'returners' is probably my personal favorite. Chrono is the one that sold me on this band. The album 'Fury and the Fallen Ones' was also amazing. The album 'get what you give' really introduced them to more mainstream listeners as opposed to the niche hardcore listeners. I would say try at least one song from either 'Fury and the Fallen Ones' or 'Returners'. Appreciate your reactions man.
If you want the more heavy Ghost Inside songs listen to there early album called Fury and the Fallen with “Faith and Forgiveness” “Disintegrator” etc on it. They don’t do basically any melodic soft stuff on that album at all. It’s what I originally listened to from them in highschool and got me into them. Also saw them perform that stuff live . Super sick.
I agree with your opinions on this particular song. You should really check out their older album “Returners” that album is heavy with little, to no singing!
Yeah this is definitely their sing-along live anthem. 90% of their songs DON'T go that route which is probably why so many people suggested it to you because it's their easiest to digest. It got me into them sure but damn they go harder in Mercy, Dark Horse, Between the Lines, Faith & Forgiveness, and others suggested
Mercy was what got my attention for this band way back, if you wanted something with a bit more grit and a powerful message, that's the right one! Engine 45 was great for me, but it wasn't what hooked me
Everything off Fury And The Fallen their first full 2nd full length after the changed fro A Dying Dream to The Ghost Inside that álbum is heavy melodic - the emo break downs !
Faith or forgiveness by The Ghost Inside is what got me into them. It's their older stuff.. check it out please! Thanks dude. Even if you don't do a reaction on their music. At least check out their other tracks from their other albums. They really are all incredible band. Also,I guess since I'm an addict in recovery engine 45 means alot more to me than most people.
Pretty much look for the most popular songs on their first 2 albums. Fury and the Fallen Ones or Returners. I don't recall "cleans"on either album. Faith and Forgiveness & Between the Lines are the ones that are most popular on those. I've been a fan for over a decade. Most people on here don't respect their older stuff nearly enough.
If you wanna hear more of that aggressive/heavy sound from The Ghost Inside, definitely check out the songs Between The Lines and Faith or Forgiveness. It’s their OG shit off their first two records
I enjoy cleans in certain circumstances. I have to agree that in the case of this song, the clean vocals kind of drew me out of the song. It was definitely a bit deflating. I'll have to check out more of their stuff sometime, but if I was going solely based on this song alone, I wouldn't.
You should check out Turmion Kätilöt- Naitu. It's finnish industrial metal and that's from their new album. They are #1 at album charts in Finland right now. And btw, uncensored version of the video can be found from their official pornhub page. Yea, you read it right, their pornhub page.
YOU NEED TO PICK UP YOU'RE HEADPHONES. TURN ON YOU'RE CAMERA, AND REACT TO ..... BREAKDOWN OF SANITY - THE GIFT.... YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM!!!! Hails from The Bronx New York by the way.. been a viewer of your channel for a while now! Love the content!! Rock on bro lml(>
@@galacticriminalx haha didnt mean to yell at you. I just know for a fact that you'd enjoy the tits off of this song! It checks off 9 out of 10 on your checklist of what u like to listen to.
Good song, ending a little on the lighter side, check out stuff from their first album like, Siren Song, Faith or Forgiveness, or Shiner if you want that older heavier rifs in the breakdowns
This is their radio chart song so to speak, probably due to the subject matter as to why it goes so emotional. These guys can go pretty hard tho. Mercy is just great uplifting hardcore, the great unknown is also another good one.
Their first 2 albums are way more my taste and how I got into them. I would recommend giving those a listen. They are both more melodic hardcore and less metalcore as a lot of their new stuff is.
Aftermath and Engine 45 are the only songs with cleans they have. Between the Lines, Unspoken, The Brave, Shiner. Just try a couple from any of The Returners and For The Fallen Ones albums.
this song and aftermath have that A Day to Remember Vibe to them you are hating. Most of their music doesn't, but these 2 songs kinda hang there because they try to portray emotion with it.
Mercy , greater distance , between the line , avalanche , the great unknown , chronos everything before their album get what you get is more heavier , they tool the metalcore route on this album
Raction suggest : maaaaaaan I was completely death when i heard that shit ( slaughter to prevail song demolisher) I hope you enjoy this music video as you do muhahahhaha
That album was a bit more on the mellow side. You need the Returners album from these guys. Try between the lines, unspoken, or overlooked off that album. You won’t be disappointed man
