Fun fact: Epitaph Records temporarily stopped taking royalties so the band members would get *all* of the money from record sales while they recovered.
The backstory is crazy and the drummer lost his leg in that accident as you will see in this video what a comeback hope you enjoy this beauty. New album June 5th
Andrew (the drummer) lost his right leg below the knee. He plays with a device that his dad engineed for him, nicknamed "the hammer". Jonathan (vocals) had so many surgeries on his right ankle to try to stabilize it that he ended up making the choice to have it permanently fused so he could live without pain. Zack (guitar) had 13 surgeries on his leg. There usually aren't many clean vocals from The Ghost Inside, these cleans were assisted by Jeremy McKinnon from A Day To Remember. Check out Engine 45, Mercy, The Great Unknown, Unspoken, and Dear Youth. If you liked this, I don't think you will be disappointed by these tracks either.
Jeremy has been the producer on the last 3 TGI albums and has been in the studio with them during recording. Listen carefully to the clean vocals, you can tell Jeremy is singing.
Do you know if any sort of statement come out regarding what caused the accident? All the reports I find are from when the accident happened and most of them state that the bus hit the truck, which is an important detail. I wonder if the bus driver was falling asleep at the wheel. RIP to both drivers.
@@RyanBurnsRed There is a clue in there that they didn't have a message about the bus driver, like a "RIP" or "In Memory of". That it itself is kind of telling.
I worked security for one of their shows right before this incident. I’ve always been a fan of theirs, but became an even bigger fan of them that night. They were the nicest, most genuine guys I’ve ever met that were touring. My old band played with a lot of touring bands, and a lot of them thought way too highly of themselves, but not these guys. They were touring solo and having nothing but local hardcore/metalcore bands open for them. Just to get the other bands more exposure. I have the absolute utmost respect for these guys. Amazing human beings.
I played a show a few years back in Fort Worth, Texas and a band we were sharing the stage with had a drummer who was missing his left arm below the elbow. Homie just duct taped a stick to his nub and played with more passion than I've seen from most professional bands. Perserverance and love for what you do make a world of difference. Triumph over tragedy. \m/
I'm surprised you haven't heard of them, definitely a band you need to checkout! The vocalist Jonathan was actually at the crash site in the video. That takes some serious courage to go back there. No doubt its gonna be album of the year! Life's swinging hard but TGI are forever swinging harder ❤🤘
Ans I thought Trivium was going to take album of the year, but goddamn, they released this the day before Trivium's album dropped and now I'm not sure, I think this album will take the cake when it's released in June lol.
Such a great band theure what got me into straight up hardcore along with comeback kid its a nice bridge between ADTR and bands loke them to blood for blood harms way deez nuts etc
Brought me right back to when they dropped their debut. This band was one of my favorite in the genre when going to shows was more important than savings accounts and mortgages
The cleans are pretty new and yes, this is the first new music, from a new album coming out June 5th. Andrew the drummer lost his right leg, one of the guitarist's has problems with his arms / hands / fingers. Jonathan Virgil the singer had huge problems with his ankle healing. The all have life-changing injuries, had to learn to walk again in some cases and had to learn to play their instruments again for some too. Andrew chronicled his recovery with loads of youtube vids. I've never been more proud of people I've either only met once or never met. They deserve every little bit of success they have and will get. They sold out the Brixton Academy less than a day after it going on sale, that is 4920 odd people. Most went on the 02 Presale. If it goes ahead, it's not an exaggeration that this show is gonna be a fucking insane and defining moment in Metal, Hardcore and Metalcore's history. Check out Chrono, Between The Lines, Blue and Gold, Unspoken, Faith Or Forgiveness and Shiner.
Galactic, I found these guys a decade ago when my buddy played their song Downbeat from one of their first albums... I became a fan of them a decade ago and I saw them live in Odessa, TX the night before the played in my hometown of Lubbock.... they gave me their set list from that show and I was supposed to hang out with them again in Lubbock the next night but I had to work and couldn’t make it... the day after I received the news that they had possibly been killed in that bus crash and I broke down crying sitting in my vehicle after a sales meeting... just months after surviving the accident and surgeries the drummer made a declaration he would return with one less leg, but sounding the exact same and no one would ever know he was missing a leg.... and true to his word.... I haven’t been on Facebook in 3 months and got on today for some odd reason and this was the first thing that popped up.... I thought it was another “stay tuned, we’re coming back” kinda post that I was going to leave some words of love and inspiration and when I then saw it was a new song and they were dropping a new album I got choked up.... when the video started... I just started balling.... this is one of the best groups of men I have ever met... I have no words for how awesome this is... other than you need to check out their songs: Downbeat, Blue and Gold, Lions War, and Into the Unknown.... from some of their first albums to their most recent before the accident.... hope you learn to love them.... they are more amazing live and in person and sound just the same.... great reaction video and thanks for posting this!!!!! 🍻🤘🏻
I saw them their first show back and I was right in the front. It was super emotional, the vocalist was crying while screaming the crowd could feel their energy. A lot of other artists came to support I saw Ronnie radke, fronz, Jeremy mcchicken, lil xan, members from wage war a FUCK TON of artists. Those were the only ones I saw in the crowd
One of my all time favourites bands and have had the privilege of watching them live and true, they don't usually do cleans, seems like in this track it was appropriate. Also, this is the last track on the upcoming album. Theres also a 6/7 part documentary about the drummers come back to recovery you can search for. its crazy man. Well done to TGI on their comeback album. Love you always.
I think I first heard about them when their 2012 album came out and the song "Engine 45" was being recommended to me by RU-vid. That and "Avalanche" from their latest are still some of my favourite metalcore songs in existence. There's just something so powerful in this band.
Hands down my favorite band, you can watch their recovery and how the drummer had a kit built since he lost his leg to keep playing. They weren't going to come back but the friends, family, and fans stuck with them and they did it. And hearing new music from them is just awesome. Checkout their lyrics...so motivating
Bro you've got to check out White Light. It's the song the vocalist wrote about his passing brother. Or Between The Lines, that one's just hype all around, like the rest of their stuff. I think this is also the first time he's actually sang in their music.
You know that band Crystal Lake you love so much? These guys (The Ghost Inside) paves the way for them and Gideon, now when you listen to them you will ultimately hear their influence. TGI will always be legendary. Great reaction Galactic! Love ya buddy. Be safe.
Start with "Fury and the Fallen Ones" and then "Returners." That'll give you a good idea of their foundation and then you can see the evolution into the next two albums after those. Those first two are some serious bangers.
They revisited the crash scene to film this music video...I can't imagine having to go back to that location, feels forreal...this is their only song with cleans if I'm not mistaken. Check out their older stuff, I think you'd enjoy it 🤘🤘
I cry every time I listen to this track. Welcome back, TGI. Also no one is recommending any of their original tracks so I will: Provoke, Faith or Forgiveness, and Shiner.
yeah this song was so much more melodic than the past albums. a lot of it is harder/harsher, which i love. go-to songs here would be mercy and deceiver. Engine 45 is an all time favourite. Loved the reaction and definitely loved the song and am super stoked for the upcoming album
You really should check out more of their music. Fury and The Fallen Ones is such an amazing album that will get you hooked on them. Oh, and they don't do cleans hardly at all so don't worry about that!
Never been a big fan of theirs, liked a few songs every now and then, but to me, that is one of their best songs (of those that I know) and to be honest, for them to come back after that is just one of the great stories of metal/hardcore. That's what so much of this music is about, no matter what live throws at you, no matter how hard you fall, you just get back on your feet and get going again. And that's just what they did.
It's always great to hear about a band, or a musician coming back after such a tragic accident like that. That said, I didn't find myself really getting into the song itself. I definitely felt the emotion, and it is a heavy song emotionally, but I felt like this is something I'd hear on my local rock station on the radio. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing, but musically it felt like I had heard it before. Anyway, keep up the awesome content! Since discovering your channel a few months ago you've introduced me to so many amazing bands from different genres of metal that I thought either didn't exist, or were way too far out of my comfort zone lol.
Dudeee!!! TGI are one of my favourite bands!!! They are soooooo amazing!!! 🤘🤘 listen to their album Fury and the Fallen ones. You wont be disappointed!! I also got to see them here in Australia in janurary. The second come back show. Was amazing!! I was front row centre the whole time! 💛💛
Dude, this band has been so important to so many for over 10 years. Including me. They're amazing human beings and musicians. You can't go wrong with any of their music. You'll love it.
I love he waits til the ends of songs for his reactions amd comments instead of pausing in the middle of breakdowns and shit his facial expressions give most od it away anyways lol
Listen to their first album all the way thru, then returners then get what you give. Dear youth was good but their least best. The first 3 are amazing man.
You must check their third album "Get what you give" which is an incredible album man ! I'm sure you'll enjoy it ;) And I completely agree with you, it's really emotional. Respect !
You haven't heard for them before? Than You have one task, album "Dear Youth" is one of the best modern metalcore albums... This song is great but is still one level below everything on "Dear Yourt". Incredible album! I N C R E D I B L E
@galacticriminal Here is a list of a few other songs by them. Engine 45, Dark Horse, Shiner, Overlooked, Dear Youth. You’ll like those ones a lot more!
