I just wish that all of the people who say that songs don't need screaming in them, I wish they could hear this because this is an example of something that can't just be sung. It just has so much more emotion to it.

I have the lyrics “you left some hope instilled in me, that I never should give up on anything” tattooed on my lat. I only listen to this song but once a year or so cause I instantly become an emotional wreck when I hear it. I miss you brother.

I heard this song and I didn't know what it was but I couldn't stop listening to it. I didn't even know what it was about, nor had I ever even listened to the band prior. It's one of the best songs that I have heard recently and it speaks so strongly. I can't help but be frustrated that so much junk is played on the radio and songs like this one with real substance don't get that kind of attention. RIP

I heard this song for the first time ever in rehab about 8 or 9 years ago. It struck a fuckin nerve, and I get hardcore goosebumps still to this day when I hear it. My name is Ryan, and I always listened to it like my brother was singing it to me. I’m sober today and doing very well. Made me think how I never want my brother to be lost at sea. That Last verse was like my brother screaming “Ryan shine the light for me” because I was gone from an overdose. I’ll be seeing you guys in 3 weeks in Boca Raton, FL, and I hope you play this! My condolences completely, I lost my brother in April of this year and going to his funeral was by far the worst thing I've ever had to do in my life. Whenever I hear this song I think of my brother. He loved to be on the water, he grew up by it, he worked on the water pretty much all his life and he ended up drowning. At least he went out doing what he loved. I miss him terribly, and I am very sorry for your loss.

This song hits me like a freight train going full speed loaded down with bricks, I was never the kind to be scared, but I lost my older sister 10 years ago in the same manner. I woke up for school figured she was still sleeping (she always closed her door) when I walked into class I get approached by a police officer, she gave a ride home but didn't say what happened, for two weeks I was scared to do anything or go anywhere, knowing death was just around the corner, just living in fear, thought what would she think of me? Would she be proud? Nope, so I promised to finish school and put fear in it's rightful place in the back of my mind.

At the age of 13 I had a friend take their own life. It was hard for me, not the death, but that I'd never see that person again. But it wasn't until recently just before I moved back to my home state that I lost another friend. This time to cancer. She was the cleanest person I knew. Never drank, never smoked (anything), and actually held a strict diet. She was doing everything you'd imagine would help live a long, and happy life. She started her battle while I was out of state. But I tried rushing back for a tattoo we were meant to get (I got it by myself). But two days before I was to surprise her she lost her battle. I flew out that same night to make the service the next day. I heard this song randomly on pandora a few days later...and wow did it hit me hard. It's true, since her passing I can't help but think when is my time? I smoke cigarettes (I know, shame, shame), I drink on occasion, and overall live a much unhealthier lifestyle then she EVER did. I don't fear death, but just the fact that tomorrow could honestly be my last and there's no way of telling, but until that promised day comes (death is the only thing promised in life). Very quickly this band is becoming one of my favorite. They really speak from the heart.

I used to listen and play that song very often on guitar, when it cames out. Until one day (I'm from France) I found myself in front of these mountains, close to Banff, Canada... Then all these memories resurfaced, and that weird feeling mixed with sadness, melancholy and hope. A really weird moment. But I didn't remember that artwork until now, 3 years later... And I found back that song. Another pretty strange moment... I feel like attached to it, probably because I'm subject to depression for a while, but strangely, that kind of sad music seems to help me to fight against this fucking sickness. And I think that works for Metal in general : there is some deep strenght there, that has the power to heal ourselves.

Listening to this song one year after this great family left this word today....may the family rest in peace.
