Garlock, CA was known as Cow Wells or El Paso City, then in 1896 Eugene Garlock opened a mill there and the town eventually became known as Garlock. Located a few miles off Highway 395 and a few miles from the much more famous "living" ghost town of Randsburg, Garlock is an interesting stop when traveling the 395 in California.
The town was primarily a water source for nearby mines and Randsburg, but in later years it was the site of a speakeasy, a brothel, and was visited by Charles Manson.
