They don't hate Giannis, they hate everything he represents. - Came From The Mud - Has an old school mindset on & off the court - Isn't Buddy Buddy or Friends with People in the League outside of his teammates. -Not an AAU Baller -Loyal -Foreign All of this proves that he threatens the status quo. Players like KD Legacies are already in Question due to What Giannis has accomplished.
Respect to Giannis for everything he’s accomplished but Harden was right about the media narrative. No one likes Harden as well but he still puts up with it
Players have always been buddy buddy even though there will of course be some players that do not like each other. Giannis is cool with other players you can tell by how he interacts with other players during All Star break. Holding Russ's baby and clowning around.
Can’t help that a Foreign player who refuses to be buddy buddy with other players, is dominating the league. They can keep hating while Giannis gon keep shining😤🦌🔥
What lol 😂😂 giannis is a clown in the NBA always wants people to be smiling and happy and is usually at the center of it all don't take the clown thing the wrong way people lol
Harden said Giannis has no skill. Meanwhile, Harden based his entire game around initiating contact with the defender. This allowed him to either get to the free throw line or get his step back 3 whenever he wanted. The moment the NBA changed the rules making that an offensive foul, Harden’s game fell apart.
He has skill!! But to your point not as much as Giannis. I think forcing the league to change rules because of you has to give harden some credit. It shows he has skill and is a revolutionary player. Just Mabye not as much as Giannis.
and so the league decided this skill wouldn't be legal anymore while giannis can just run into defenders and get to the ft line, which was not the case for Julius Randle, refs telling him he had too much physical advantage and so didn't deserve to go the FT line (as if giannis wasn't more physical and less skilled than julius randle)
You do realize that constantly hitting difficult threes needs skill, correct? And also, Harden was still good when the rules changed, I mean he's averaging 22, 7 and 10 for crying out loud. Or did you still want him to score 30 while playing with Durant and Kyrie?
@@sebastianbaez8761 I mean for me I don’t expect that from him in Brooklyn. He just needs to facilitate in all honesty. But in Philly they just want him to step up more. And I can’t argue.
"Giannis has no skill or bag" yet he's averaged at least 27/10/5 on 55% shooting for 5 years straight. Giannis shot 45% from mid range this past year and around 72-73% from FT, which was better than face of the league, everyone's best friend LeBron James. His passing is elite as well. All this from a 6'11 255-260 pound man. The only man who got all 100 votes for 1st team all pro this past year. Averaged 34/13/6 against a physical Boston team without Middleton and basically took em 7 singlehandedly. Was even better against a better Suns team in the finals. Giannis has basically been the MVP for the last 4 years. 2 actual MVPs, a DPOY, 4 straight 1st team All-NBA, and 4 straight 1st team All Defense, and of course a Finals MVP. No disrespect to Jokic but he only won it over Giannis the first time because the voters didn't want to make Giannis the 4th player ever to win 3 in a row and that list includes Wilt and Bill Russell. Basically because MJ or LeBron never won 3 in a row, another player is not allowed to do so either and upholding that historical narrative is stupid as hell. Lastly about the whole Rasheed Wallace being better than Giannis today thing...If Sheed played today, he would at BEST be AD. And no one in their fuckin minds thinks AD is a better player than Giannis.
My man needs a job or a life bro god dam it's just too much lol 😂 also your jokic take is trash 🗑️ also the Wallace thing you can't say he won't the NBA changed and Wallace most likely would of changed with it uk started to practice those shots outside the paint so I can see why Andre said that
you almost shot your self in the foot with this comment. So, Denis Rodman and Ben Wallace were extremely good defensive players. Does it mean that they were skilled? No. They were just grinding all the time, props to them, but you can't say they were skilled for a top level, to which Giannis is compared all the time.
The problem is the era...giannis is in a spacing era that requires shooting in some shape or form..so people feel like he not that good...Shaq didn't really go thru it because he was already in a big man era...it's baffling cuz they had to expose him with free throws but still is seen as one of the best XD..but giannis.. Just doesn't make sense
As a Kid from Europe I've always loved Giannis (Joker, Luka, etc as well but you catch me), way before he was the multiple time MVP and DPOY Greek Freak. Knowing the love and respect Shaq had for him legit makes me like him even more. Shaq is a real one!
I always hated the old head "they'd take his head off" take, like cool you're telling me he's so good at scoring or you're so bad at defense that you need to assault a man just to stop him? I have mad respect for those who came before this generation of basketball players but damn really that's all you got?
I also think is funny that they don't consider the fact that as much as they'd be able to give, Giannis would aswell. Imagine this man driving without risk of offensive fouls, he'd knock out 1 player per game while still getting and ones.
@@lewqitz Make that skinny rookie Giannis - make him that angry with his fully-grown-into body now? (sure he's also more mature, balanced and cunning now, but run with the idea...)
Oakley is just pissed because he blew his money, played in an era when Rodman out shone him as a defensive talent, and he won zero rings, dude survives on hate.
As a bucks fan I love when nobody gave him credit. 2021 was the best year to prove everyone wrong and Giannis did exactly that. Best player in the league right now
@@hakeemharden1145 Fisher saved Kobe, Horry save Kobe/Shaq/Duncan a couple of times, John Paxson and Steve Kerr saved MJ, Ray Allen saved LBJ,. Should I keep going? If you think that basketball is an individual sport, you should stay away from basketball talks.
Giannis is this era's Shaq. I don't understand the knock he gets for not being able to shoot the ball. He is the best player in the league and arguably the best two way player.
I'm not even a Bucks or Giannis fan but I respect his game especially after watching him beat my Suns in the finals. He will get better at shooting. This past season he looked more confident pulling up from 3.
@@dayumbro8202 It's gonna be really tough to surpass Shaq. Milwaukee is gonna have to surround him with a really good team in a couple years with Brook, Middleton, and Jrue all aging past their primes. He's gonna have to win at least a couple more rings to have a chance at surpassing Shaq.
I respected Embiid so much more after that JJ pod. The man recognizes game. He is a beast too. Him and Giannis probably the most unstoppable bigs the League has had in a while
Him, Jokic, and Giannis are the future bigs. Giannis and Joel are physically imposing players right now, Joel and Jokic are both beasts in post ups, Giannis and Jokic are hard to double since they will find their open teammates. Joel is improving his passing. Joel might win the MVP this season the only problem is if Harden plays near his peak form. That narrative will be against him
What I like most about Giannis is he knows everyone flops like crazy on him but you rarely see him flop himself. I must have only seen him do it once or twice.
I'm glad there's people that actually recognize this! Yes he does commit actual charges a lot, but so many times it's Giannis bumping a player lightly in the low post or paint and they go flying into the 3rd row. There were 2 plays in the Boston series where Tatum literally threw himself about 10 feet when all Giannis did was pull off a spin move on him, and it wasn't even coming downhill it was going baseline lmao. Then there was another where Marcus Smart hit the deck just because Giannis caught a pass in the post area.
@@plazik7481 The refs literally told Ime Udoka that they aren't going to call anything on Giannis unless someone falls down. This is documented. If Giannis didn't have such a golden whistle it wouldn't be necessary. A lot of people do flop against him, but I think it evens out because he really should get called for a lot more charges.
@@jallon6670Then go ahead and fall down on charges but these guys were falling down when Giannis was just in the vicinity and not commiting any fouls m8. I'd also take away Giannis's "Golden whistle" as you call it if it meant others on the Bucks got to shoot FTs lol. After Giannis there were about 5-6 Celtics players who shot more FTs a game than Jrue Holiday did. Even Derick White got more FTAs than Jrue Holiday, who played 45+ minutes a night and was always attacking the basket. During the regular season, neither Jrue or Khris were in the top 50 for FTAs. But the truth is Giannis does get called for a lot of charges. I'm pretty sure he led the league in charges and was like 3rd or 4th in offensive fouls. Plus the guy missed 15 games.
@@jallon6670 Also the Tatum play in mention was game 1, and Smart's was either game 3 or 4, but he was flopping all series really. I think Ime said the refs supposedly told him they'll only call a foul if the players fall down after game 3 or 4. Which is ironic since in game 3 Milwaukee was called for 8 more fouls, and Boston shot around 20 more FTs and that was on Milwaukee's own home court.
@@plazik7481 If you know both teams well you would know it's no surprise that Derrick White drew more fouls than Jrue. Derrick White's first instinct is always to attack. Jrue would dribble for two seconds and take a stupid pull-up three. Giannis gets called for a lot of charges, yes, but not as many as he commits. If the refs gave him a fair whistle he would foul out of most games just on charges alone. And that is not an exaggeration.
I love the “he can’t shoot” narrative. For some reason, shooting has just become “well, can he make threes?”. At this point he could never develop a reliable three point shot and it wouldn’t matter because of how good he is in every other facet offensively. In particular, his court awareness this past season was off the charts. He just sees the floor so well now and is able to make every read, make every right play and find the open man. He can slash, make cuts and create open looks all night for his teammates. He’s gotten so much better making plays out of double teams. His midrange jumper is plenty reliable. He sets great screens and whether it’s Jrue or Khris, he is excellent at the pick and roll. None of this even describes his impact defensively. He’s the most complete player in the NBA right now.
@@WillSoTrill why shoot when you can dominate in the post and dunk over anyone. giannis is (for now) a lower level shaq with a decent shot. i mean yes, his effiency aint great, but when your 6'11 250 lbs., you dont need the shot. so when you have a shot, it makes your game so much better. in the 90s, he would have shot as effiecient, if not more effiecent, because 3s werent shot much in the 90s, let alone 6"11 guys shooting 3s
You know it's crazy when Shaq reps someone. Like honestly, I don't care what all these other people say, if Shaq- someone who clowns on almost everyone reps you that's all the backing you need. And Giannis deserved his rep. All these players saying he doesn't have talent...I want to see you jump over a 6'9 person just to put another on a poster...
I'm a huge fan of 90s but Giannis would be there with Olajuwon and Robinson ( both were fast for their size in their prime) but Oak was just a wrestler with okay mid range and good rebounding, I even really like him but he would have just push him to foul out
Giannis would abuse 90's players. He basically has the Robinson frame with the athletic ranginess of young Kevin Garnett. The presenter in the video said it best. Illegal defense used to be a rule so you couldn't just play zone with 2-3 defenders shading toward him all game. Plus let a defender like Giannis use his strength and wingspan to an advantage LOL
They're mad Foreign players are taking over the league. Its xenophobic really. The 4 best players in the world are A Nigerian Born in Greece (Giannis) A Serbian 2x MVP (Jokic) A Cameroonian Force (Embiid) A Slovenian from Euro League (Luka)
Little pre-mature with Luka over Durant, Curry, even Ja? but you make a very solid point. Luka is right there. No way Harden, Booker, KAT, Irving, Tatum, Lillard, Butler, Young is better than Luka. Kawhi is a ? coming back
I don’t get how they don’t see that while Giannis is already insanely successful no doubt. BUT it’s honestly kinda scary because of the fact that Giannis could the only player in NBA history with the following. 1: multiple regular season MVPs 2: multiple Finals MVPs 3: multiple DPOYs People need to understand Giannis is already pretty much a lock for at minimum top 15 of all time closer to 10 imo. But should he accomplish the list above he is a lock for top 5 players ever. In my humble opinion.
He's taking over Lebron as my favorite active NBA player, but Giannis needs at least one more chip and a Finals MVP to lock in top 15. Top 20-25 for sure already though, and that's saying a LOT for a league as old as this despite not even playing in the NBA for a decade yet.
@@spongeaang98 Tbh even if he ends up not winning any more rings he might still just be in top10 conversations.. as long as he continues having great seasons and finishes as high mvp/dpoy candiate. I mean there have only been 2 other players in nba history that won mvp and dpoy in the same year and both r top 10.
I will say and I’m not throwing shots at anyone but him achieving what he has in Milwaukee has to be accounted for as well. He’s good enough to join any big market and have the pick of the best players in the league joining him but he’s competing year after year in the smallest market.
@@spongeaang98 so you just love these crybabies asking for a foul while they charged with their shoulders or elbows, always travelling, and acting like they are good leaders while they're shitty about that (westbrook and holiday are way better teammates)
@@joey-desu zero chance he sniffs the top ten with one championship. You don’t make the top ten with barely any playoff success and Giannis has has only a handful of great series.
The media don’t respect Giannis cause he’s European. Same with jokic and Luka. If Giannis was from the mean streets of Cleveland or New York or something he would be in the goat convo.
I feel there is another side to the disrespect to international players. Non of them came up from the American school/college system. Seeing that players can be a top tier player without jumping through their hoops is dangerous for them as top talents may leave to go and actually get paid to play. This could effect the weird system profiting off kids and not allowing the players to make money whilst the schools profit off them instead.
Re: Rasheed Wallace comment. The problem with Sheed was never about skill or talent, He most definitely could've been an ATG in my eyes, it's just he took way too long to get it together mentally. Giannis gives 100% every single play. He's the leader of the team. In regards to the 80's/90's toughness, people say he'd get destroyed on every drive, don't forget if you want to hard foul him, he's also got 6 fouls to get you back on the other end. And I've seen Giannis enough times to know he's going to fight if needed. Also kinda funny Dominique Wilkins was embarrassing people nightly in the 80's all the way to a HOF career and yet the bigger faster stronger Giannis wouldn't succeed? That's a terrible take from Oakley
Crazy how skilled players are now perceived as the ones doing crazy tween hezi pull up from half court logo jump shots when giannis is one of the most skilled players in this generation 🤦🏾♂️
The funny thing about Oakley's arguments is that most staring PFs in that era were complete bums. Oakley's best season was a 15-12-2 and says Giannis wouldn't start in that era.
Oakley got outplayed by old Parish and McHale. Also, in the 90s by undersized Charles Barkley. Man is mad because there's someone who is better than those guys he played and lost against 😂
@@hijisfriend9030 man constantly got clowned. he really likes to say the game was a lot more physical. no bro, you just got mad you got cooked on a daily basis so you treated the game like wrestling. a complete bum that can't be objective.
Giannis is such a great guy with such an inspirational story. Crazy how far he has gone, I remember cheering for this man in my friend group chat saying that he will be able to beat the nets. Nobody believed me but they looked at him after the finals with his ring.
When harden said "I gotta learn how to play basketball" he meant he has to study the rule book to find which one he can abuse. It's too bad he's not taking 500+ trips to the line per season off 3point fouls anymore. Now dude is useless.
and that's what every fucking talented player was trying to do, while other athletic players are just running into defenders with their elbows ready to hit them
@@CChrist-mh4mk These rules benefit players play normal basketball, and fucks over pussys that draw fouls for free throws, so again I would sure hope they benefit giannins the most lol!!!
@@kylenoe1346 You're right. It's because refs tend to swallow their whistles in the playoffs and Harden's game is so dependent on drawing fouls. He will always be a great REGULAR SEASON player.
@@WillSoTrill Yes Someone good games for sameone that call himself biggest ofensive ever seen in the league. Great player play better in playoffs when the lights are on. Harden plays way worst
Harden's skillset. 1.Manipulate what a travel is: Jump backwards 3 times and shoot. 2. Add the push off the defender, jump back 3 times. 3. Drive to the "lane" looking to run into defender for foul 4.shooting free throws
Bruce Lee said something along the lines of, he’d rather fight someone that knows 1000 different punches than someone who’s trained 1 punch 1000 times. Yeah, Harden and Kyrie have a deeper bag than Giannis. But Giannis has perfected what he does to the point that he’s more effective.
I mean, yes, he had big time luck with his physique and size and armlenght and everything, but to say that that is all that made him 2x MVP is ridiculous lol
according to the Disney movie > RISE < which is a Gianni's documentary, Gianni's full name has significance .. >first name Giannis means: John the apostle .. >(his middle name) UGO stands for: "a crown" .. >his last name Andetakumbo means: king has arrived .. ya notice each time a KING arrives, they're "hated" 🤔
@@TyBrezzy11 he did. He made a solution to the wall defense by adding some floaters in his game, improved his FT%, improved his shooting form so he can shoot midrange, from post ups, and some occasional 3's
Really dig this style of NBA content, a mix of solid commentary with clips in between, no over the top effects or over-dramatization. Keep this up bruh your channels gonna blow up! 🔥💯
yooo i saw ur thumbnail in the social packet discord when i first joined it, and now your video's in my recommended😂 keep up the good work dawg the content is fye
It's funny how analysts and never-have-beens b-side players diss new up&coming players (not just giannis, but luca and jokic), but it's the nba greats that know what they're talking about, like it's some kind of aura they only can recognize. And honestly, someone like Shaq denouncing a title which he worked for for years, in favor of a new potential star, only gives props to him. Same thing goes for the rest of the legends praising foreign players by showing they value skill and potential first and foremost, instead of nationality. Respect indeed.
On the real, Oakley would have had to retire if Giannis played in his day. Imagine what Giannis would be doing to these fools if he knew him knocking a fool would result in a 2 dollar fine and some FTs lol
The reason giannis get hate is nothing but xenophobia people don't like the fact that someone that wasn't born in the USA is currently the best player in the world
The thing is, Greek, Jokic, Luka and Embiid're doing literally everything - playmaking, shooting from distance, dunking, rebounding, blocking, leading their teams...Everything. Steph, KD, Tatum and many others are great of course, but their versatility doesn't come even close. I mean look at variety of things that Joel and Joker do, it's just crazy. Greek shooting threes, Luka bullying defenders like they're fourth graders. These guys rulle the league rn, and it'll stay that way.
I hate the physicality argument, because It’s like if LeBron and Giannis are hand checked and hit in the paint, we’ll won’t they do that same shit and be even more dominant on defense. It never makes sense to only look at it one way.
Hand checking and less emphasis on protecting shooters would affect modern combo guards more if anything. Giannis probably would play even better there, especially with how he's a solid mid range shooter.
The thing with Shaq at the end is super cute bc he identifies, as a dominant big man himself, that Giannis just absolutely putting people into a bin when he slashes into the paint, and either leaps from the free throw line and dunks or goes for the Eurostep Lay up is obvious evidence of a historically great player who would be dominant essentially in any era
Giannis already solidified himself to the top 15-20 players of all time by winning that championship. If he wins more accolades and at least one championship in Milwaukee then he's entering the top 10. Yes top 10 even with only 2 championships. Wilt is in the top 10 with 2 championships too
2:20 "Defense, is a skill!" Harden: "De-what? Ive never heard that one before. Can you explain it to me?" Everyone: "No James. There isn't a soul on earth that can explain that one to you."
These old heads need to find where they lost their minds at. Idk why they think defenders in the 80s-90s were made of titanium. Dudes like Gianni's and Lebron would literally pick their teeth with some defenders from that era. At best the increased physical defense would likely increase the chance of injury but played like bron and Gianni's are very adaptable.
Dude some people are saying that Giant like Shaq is the goat but when it comes to giannis "oh no he doesn't have a skill" IM not saying Shaq is not a top player but you know what i mean
Shaq is supposed to be in the GOAT conversation if he called Rick Barry, swallowed his pride and started working on his FT. Barry offered his services but Shaq declined and said he doesn't want to look like a sissy shooting FT. Imagine Shaq with at least 72-80%FT rate. There's no way you can stop him
Even if you can walk on water, you know what people will say? You can walk on water because you can't swim - David Goggins There will always be haters, keep the grind💪
i consider myself and old head and i like Giannis. I like that he got buff to not be pushed around as easily. People like harden piss me off because they dont put in the minimal effort of just hiring someone to legit make him his meals and feed him with all the money he has. I like that his growth is apparent as a ball player. Never sitting on his lorals.
EXACTLY!!! He works his ass off in the gym lifting to get bigger and stronger. He has no chill. He’s packed on enough muscle to make even Kevin Willis blush. My man has an actual work ethic and his only motivation is to attack and improve his weaknesses. People think he’s unstoppable now!?? Wait 3-4 more years when he’s at his physical peak. Bro he’s going to dominate the game in a way we haven’t seen since Wilt.
One word; envy. A lot of these American dudes can't stand the idea that this Nigerian guy with a funny accent, who grew up in Greece, and is arguably the most physically gifted NBA player of all time is being heralded as the most dominant force in today's game. They would probably rather see a Lebron-esque personality, home grown boy to be the face of the league.
Giannis is just... amazing. He started from virtually nothing, and now has his own brand of shoes. Any other person would let the money get to their head, and might become greedy, but Giannis... he's just so cool, and should inspire everybody.
Ppl like iggy should remember he couldn't lead 76ers anywhere , so where does he go golden state ride their success. Harden ha, just a scorer. No defense no leadership mentality, cj McCollum. Where is he on the map. Nowhere. Giannis lead a team no Allstars win his first NBA championship. On the team that drafted him gone thru defensive teams to get there.
The most satisfying thing about Giannis is that he has a ring and harden, Paul, the 2022 Boston celtics don’t have one and his one ring is worth more than KDs two rings
I’m in Milwaukee. Giannis is the best player in game. That’s not saying other players aren’t also god tier. He’s just the pinnacle. Also I’m in my forties. 80’s/90s ball is the greatest and toughest era in the history of the league. There are players like Giannis, Lebron, and Steven Adams that would would have not only been able to handle it but also excel in a physical era like that. Don’t mistake Giannis’ good sportsmanship and easy going attitude for him being soft. Dude is mentally tough, strong as a bull and agile. He could go toe to toe with the with biggest bangers in history. He’s got a few more DPOYs in him in THIS ERA. Imagine an era where he could be more physical and put his body on people!! 😱😱
beautiful video, i really hope this man wins another championship this year. You know what i'm calling it, he's gonna win another one this year and the team he's going to go against is the warriors or some other team like the grizzlies or heat, maybe even mavs. you never know. I hope this message ages well
As a small ass player you are not supposed to guard Giannis, bigs Also can’t do that neither so just accept it he is the most unstoppable player and also the best player in the league
Skill: Physical: balance, agility, acceleration, strength, fitness, vertical etc Technical: ball handling, post control, layup etc Mental: offball, pass IQ, shot IQ, “play exploitation?” etc People just need a word to hide behind.
I've gotten so tired of the whole Giannis has no skill thing that now I don't even take it seriously I just say "then stop him". If he ain't got no skill hw shouldn't be dropping 30 on your head every night.
People saying Giannis has no bag or skill have been saying that about Bron too. Kareem, Malone, or wilt didn’t have a bag either but where do they rank on the all time points list? I rest my case.
