Thanks for visiting Sam! Glad you enjoyed your visit! A mix of bells and whistles here! We have 4 trams, 14, 15, 16, 19 for inclement weather. And No 9 you ran on has those new doors on the downstairs bay. 15 was rebuilt from tram 17, in 2016, from an open side toast rack, to the saloon you experienced! Car 2, is the ‘miniature’ version of what 14 would have looked like when it ran in London! Let us know when you’re next visiting, we’ll get you driving and a visit to the depot!

I like the sound the trams make as they trundle along. These half scale trams sound exactly like full scale. What a unique tramway system - brilliant

How delightful; very cool that there's people who run things like this for all of us to enjoy.

The trolley pole reverser was common on systems which had terminus stations. Manual trolley reversing is/was used for changing direction in any other type of station. If you look at the books about trams the adverts go back pre WW2. Could not see how points where changed but they could be sprung toward the platform/loop exit with a electric magnet initiated by an on/off pulse from the approaching tram to switch the point to the other line the point returning as the tram stops in the loop. Try Crich tram village, Isle of Man (2 tram systems + railway), and Beamish Museum for further working tram 'trips'.

Sam if you ever go to San Francisco you will love the street transport. They have trolleybuses and the word famous cable cars, they also have the street railway which are tram cars. Most of the trams are American PCC cars painted in fantastic liveries, however they also have trams from other countries includinf a Milan tram, a Melbourne tram and a Blackpool boat tram.

Due to taking a wrong turning on my way home from a holiday Cornwall, 6 years ago, I ended up heading for Seaton. It was mid afternoon so wondering if the tramway would still be open, I gave it a visit. Definitely a good decision, the trams were running so went for a ride. Well impressed, the weather was good and had a very enjoyable ride. Definitely worth the visit.

The tramway has moved around a lot before settling in Seaton. Some of the old Eastbourne tram lines are there, including Tram 12. We stayed a few days in Seaton and did a few trips on the trams. Need to do the learner course! 14 is a London Metropolitan Electric Tramways tram. 15 is "new" having been built in 1988 in the Manx style (15 still runs on the Manx line) and rebuild in 2016. They have always carried advertising, so nice to still use them as moving billboards. As to rain - you get wet :P They do have blankets on board if it gets cold.

I was there this weekend! Been visiting Seaton Tramway for over 25 years now! Never get bored of it. As for the ads. Trams back in the day had ads on them, like some buses do now. That being said, they would've been ads of the era, whereas the ads on Seaton's Trams are very modern and can be a bit jarring with the classic looking façade of the cars. Car 12 is probably the worst offender atm, although I imagine the ads will be coming off that soon as it looked like Bovis Homes have completed their building work. Yeah, some Trams do have whistle. I think, Cars 4, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 15 (Formally 17) all have air compressed brakes so use whistles. Car 14 is an original heritage Tram built in 1904. Originally a Standard Gauge London Met Type A. One is preserved as original in working order at Crich. Car 16 and 19 are also both Heritage Tram cars as well, both originally 3' 6" gauge. Car 16 from Bournemouth built in 1921, and car 19 from the Exeter system built in 1906. Both were open top cars back in the day and converted into saloons for use at Seaton. One Bournemouth car survives in original condition and is on display, also at Crich. Car 14 and I think 16 as well were cut down, basically into three parts and the middle taken out and the sides stuck back together. Not sure but I think 19 may be unaltered other than the removal of it's top deck. Don't quote me on that though, in 25 years, I've never seen out! 😂

Nice to see you enjoy a full scale (sort of) railway for a day! The area looks quite nice, as do many of the trams. One thing I found interesting is some of the Seaton trams were actual, revenue-earning vehicles that have been shortened or widened to fit the Seaton chassis. There's three trolley (tram) museums in a 3-4 hour drive from where I live in the States, and this video has inspired me to check them out in the near future.

Hi Sam. Great vid and glad you had a nice day out. Just missed the review scores of these "model" trams at the end. I think 5 stars for detail, same for quality with no visible glue marks. Crawl speed looks pretty good but not sure about the torque since I didn't see you check if the motor could still keep the wheels turning when you pushed against the trams with your finger ;-) Despite only having a single pickup on the roof it doesn't seem to stall on the points. As for value this has to be a ?? since I can't find any info on the RRP or price at the retailers yet. Sorry for being facetious, keep up the good work...
