I can see Mrs Russel not fully supporting Larry and Marian but she would come around because Marian is old New York and defied her family to attent her first at home, and Mr Russel already seems fond of her because of her support and help with the secretary issue
I didn't care for that relationship bc I don't wanna see Peggy as "the other woman", Mr Fortune isn't a good man if he is perfectly fine running around behind his wife's back while she cares for their newborn children. And Peggy even entertaining him makes me look at her differently too.
1. Bertha will NEVER divorce Mr. Russel. It will cause a scandal and she hates scandals. 2. Mr. Russell will put his foot down and he has done so before.
Yeah, this channel just makes things up. The show has no obligation to follow the lives of the Vanderbilts. They are called the Russells for a reason. they are fictional characters.
And the Russell marriage is one of the best parts of the show they won't ruin that not permanently. I think Gladys will give in just to get away from her mother.
Season 3 Wishlist: Big FAT Number ONE - track down that dirty Maude Beaton , trick her out of any $ she has and still send her to jail. Let Oscar be there and her see him there. #2 Jack gets fabulously rich and finds out why Bridgette has issues and falls completely for her. Would love some drama over someone failing to steal his invention. # 3 Mrs Chamberlain returns with some power #4 Bertha’s sale of Gladys to the Duke falls flat. Ever since she said “I don’t want my old friends….” I’ve had a hard time trusting her. #5 George finally has enough of her social climbing but still loves her with a long spoon. #6 Marian and Larry - this seems too easy with no spice- I’m not sure what but would love to see some real hollering and drama. So far Marian’s soft crying into handkerchiefs is getting a little old. I want Larry to step up and be a bit more ruthless like his dad. #8 Agnes V. - Christine can just march around “overstating arguments “. I’ll sign up and buy whatever she is selling #9 Ada - Still super sweet but don’t screw with her family or Peggy. #10 Peggy - the possibilities are endless. #11 Turner- I do want George to make her pay for needlessly telling Bertha about the crap she pulled - just not sure how. #12 Gladys - Just disobey Bertha in spades. That would be WONDERFUL #13 The Duke - I think he has a good heart but no spine. It’d be nice if he ends up with a real one. If he turns out to be unkind to Gladys I will want him shot. #14 Armstrong - she’s already perfectly hateful #15 Dashell - I say he show up and jealously try to ruin Larry & Marian’s love. #16 Oscar - while he freely is a gold digger willing to lie to an heiress for her money he’s the guy I love to hate. Still want him to get revenge on Maude. #17. Mrs Astor - with the fall of the Acedemy one of her balls seems pointless but would still like to see one.
I just ran across this show and binged both seasons. I wanted Mrs. Chamberlain to have a happy ending in Season 2 so bad. I want to know how much money Oscar lost. Like the exact dollar amount. One thing i will say about his mother, she is spot on about people and their intentions. She is never wrong like she says. Even down to Bertha selling her daughter lol. She called it early in Season 1.
@@reemagee4828 Amen for Mrs Chamberlain! I think she deserves some society grace. Oscar lost at least $1 mil I think. I read up on the real Mrs Astor and you had to be at least a millionaire to be considered societally worthy. $1 mil then is worth almost $31 mil today.
Oscar's friend is John Adams not Adam. It's a big mistake to make multiple times, as he is a historical figure. In addition, the heart of the show is the relationship between Bertha and George; they fight and make up but they have to stay united. Even though they are based on the Vanderbilts, I think it would be great if Gladys gets a happy ending, and the Russells stay together.
Poor Gladys. I don’t think they’ve said how old she is, but she looks like she’s only about 14 years old and just got sold to the highest bidder by her own mother. The sad part is this really happened to Consuelo Vanderbilt. I hope there’s a season 3 🤞🏼
Gladys is 16 or 17 years old and Bertha has held off her coming out, in order to sell her daughter off to the highest bidder 😢 Ohhh and season 3 has been approved
I hope that it doesn’t happen that way for Gladys but if it does as much as I like Bertha I don’t think I will have much or any sympathy for her if George ends up divorcing her and Gladys and or Larry stop speaking to her. I understand that she ambitions but at some point you have to say no the price is to high and I’m not going sacrifice my children happiness to further my goal.
George is so fine and loyal to her! If Bertha were to ruin her marriage for more power and prestige, it would be very disappointing, not just for her character but for the viewers. Sadly.
OMGOSH ewwww no on the affair btwn Peggy and Mr Fortune. Adulterous affairs would brand Peggy with a scarlett letter and she would be scoffed at and rejected.Great insights.
I agree with you 💯 % I think Mr. Fortune is going to be trouble in the future also, and his last name, seriously sounds kind of stupid to me Lol I don't like him at all
I don’t doubt there will be a season 3. Do you think that Larry is based a bit on Cornelius Vanderbilt the 3rd? BTW, Oscar’s friend is NOT named “Adam,” it’s JOHN ADAMS.
@@deb53 it’s widely known that George is based upon Jay Gould. I think you might be a little confused over who Cornelius Vanderbilt the third was. He was actually Alva‘s grandchild and it sounds like his relationship with his wife might be eventually mirrored by Larry and Marian, which would be really interesting.
That would be a twist. I just want Oscar to get his $ back. I think Larry is going to get it back in order to impress Agnes and Ada in his bid for Marian.
I don’t think they will break up as far as the public can see but they might be at complete war at home. From the look on George’s face at the Met when he started putting it together it looks like Bertha is going to have hell to pay.
Denee Benton (Miss Peggy) is an extraordinary beauty! My gosh, it hurts to look at her because she’s so freakin’ beautiful… 🤩 Be still my heart!!! 😍♥️💯🔥
The Russel’s are loosely based on the Vanderbilts. The writers did that specifically so as to have dramatic license Their story may be similar but does not necessarily have to mi ic the Vanderbilts.
I wish they would use more imagination instead of mirroring actual people, they could keep the Russells together add the influence in Britton of their daughters marriage
@@krisd2474True but this time he will be beyond livid with Bertha for offering up Gladys to the Duke. I’ve thought he might cheat with Turner. His face faltered just a bit when Turner was telling him she would have made him her world while Bertha never would.
Absolutely love this show!!!! …. However the Peggy Scott storyline really doesn’t have a connection to the rest of the show…. It should be a series of its own, so that other prominent black figures of that era could be depicted with a more meaningful connection to the era.
Look up the sexuality of Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. I wonder if Julian Fellows will bring Gertrude or a Vanderbilt of a name similar to Gertrude into Oscar's life - and she will be incredibly wealthy. This makes me wonder if Oscar and Gertrude will have a lavender marriage as they called them during that time. In the 19th Century homosexuality was not accepted in anyway - and would destroy a person. Therefore, a gay man and woman would marry to hide their real inclinations. Agnes and Bertha will not be happy with the relationship between Larry and Marian. George, Ada and Oscar will be all for it. Don't count out Mrs. Astor. She stayed the Queen for the rest of her life. It makes me wonder what she will do to get back at Bertha. Will she team up with Turner?
THANK YOU! It drives me absolutely bananas when a content creator mispronounces a name or word with a well documented pronunciation. It makes so sense and just feels sloppy.
i think Turner should trick the Duke away to marry someone else and save the Russells from themselves. This will allow Gladys to marry an old money man she loves and possibly cause Turner's husband to lose much of his wealth and status through her machinations. i think Marion and Larry would be great together and i want to see Oscar and Peggy find some happiness in their respective lives as well. Yes, I want a lot.
I hope that Bertha doesn’t end up focusing her daughter to marry the Duke I understand she ambitions but there has to be a point where you say no the price is to high and my children happiness is more important. If she does however force her daughter to do that then as much as I like her I’m not gonna have a lot of sympathy for her if George divorce her and if the daughter ends up not speaking to her.
Let's be clear. There were no twists that fans weren't expecting. Oscars Ponzi scheme was obvious, we knew Luke was going to be wealthy. Basically if it was a twist that could happen, you knew it was going to happen. I love the show, but let's not pretend these things were surprising.
You are a lot smarter than me. I knew about Luke but while Maude really worked my nerves talking about “contracts” I was completely surprised by her scheme. I guess I was too busy looking at set decor and costumes to catch it. Will pay closer attention season 3
bertha is nothing without her husband's money and hubby and her actions of season 2 will have a falling out between them, and turner will be right there in the wing to catch his fall.
Marian will inherit aunt Ada's money so she is no longer a penniless relative. She also helped George in series 1 against possibly going to jail. So the Russell's will eventually approve of her. Fellows always builds a few scandals and big problems which are resolved by the season finally. If they follow history Maud will be caught and go to jail. Maybe Oscar will help catch her?
Bertha can't force Gladys to marry the duke, so it's all about how she'll convince Gladys to marry him. I don't see a divoce happening frír George and Bertha. They are still very much in love.
Good for Peggy I say! Poor Gladys she’s just the bait. A piece of meat. Disgusting. Oscar needs to ride off into the sunset with his male parmore. Good riddance. Jack is such a good guy!
Thanks for not saying u would be giving spoilers out! If you don't care that the entire 3rd season was revealed here, DO NOT WATCH THIS! Thumbs down! Poor taste!
No, no, no! She did not promise Gladys hand to the Duke! She promised the Duke that she would be able to entroduce him to all the "Old" people that Mrs Aster could as well as the new money and that could prove even better for him as well as she would give him a clear path to court her daughter exclusively! Making an alliance between the families! The Russells are going to have their hands full with The wedding between Larry Russell and Ms Marion Brooks. Alas the wedding is thwarted with the return of Mrs Blain when she announces she is with child and it is Larry's! Mrs Russell is furious and the wedding is on hold not called off till Mrs Russell can figure this out!
I hope Gladys character is based more on the dukes mistress. His mistress was named Gladys and they were actually happy. I would hate to see a non happy ending for Gladys and the Russell’s.
Love this series; it is so well done. My only criticism would be that the interiors of the homes, both old and new money would have been STUFFED with a lot more furniture and plants galore. Their dining tables also would have been COVERED ALL OVER with a HUGE amount of heavy looking silver, a ton of porcelain, many crystal glasses, a forest of flowers, and a gigantic amount of flatware with utensils (newly invented) for eating their way through the parade of courses in any luncheon or dinner. It is not portrayed like this as it would not appeal visually to the modern audience.
