Just to sink the point in: At the beginning of the book there’s a pilot who flies over the community. He is obviously lost. The fact that his vision is impaired made it worse. The announcement says, “needless to say, he shall be released”. It was literally a death sentence for having a situation outside your control. Getting lost was a crime. I would also say it’s symbolic of those who seek freedom. Flight is associated with freedom and feelings of endless possibilities. The community can’t have people seeking freedom or their own path through life, even by accident.
I used this on a test i had recently, i havent really read the book and used this as a last resort and managed to get a 80 / 100. you are a lifesaver in everyway possible because you helped my grade get higher by around 14%.

@@castroxl9569 first his body changes because of puberty, then he develops traits to see beyond, or to be exact see what others can't (colours for example) and lastly he changes his mindset towards the theory the community is based on which is abandon beautiful things to prevent pain (this theory furthermore involves abandoned hormones that amplify emotions and strict rules that give the leaders control over the community to prevent accidents of any kind). The book reading assignment is given so you can understand feelings better and be a better human being. The test will pass you but won't shape your life the way reading could've done.
You could def read this book in 4 days. I really feel bad for you if you're unable to read a book on this level because damn. It's not a difficult level of book at all- I read this in 5th grade. I can't believe this is even a high school level book... God help us if you ever have to read Ulysses, One Hundred Years of Solitude, War and Peace etc which are the books high school SHOULD be preparing for. Your comment is a perfect example of why so many people struggle in college now and the rules literally have to bend because it's to advanced.

The Giver Lazaro Vazquez: In the Giver there was an 11-year-old boy his name was Jonas he was a smart and circus boy in the binging of the story Jonas was frightened Jonas recalls a memory that he was frightened cause there was a pilot that flew over the community a voice on top said to everyone to take cover and on the next day the pilot was released and that no pilot will fly over the community but Jonas was frightened for the ceremony of 12th when the ceremony of 12th came Jonas has been selected by the concealer of elder to be the next receiver of memory the most overed title in the community Jonas bigging's his training the next day the present receiver of memory is an old man that told Jonas to call him the Giver he’s been in that role for most of his life his job is to be keeper o all the memory not only from recent years but from many Generacion's. “Jonas started to see colors for the first time and learns about love, death, war, suffering and joy in the climax of the novel Jonas learns that release means death and that little Grabriel will be killed and in the falling action Jonas and the Giver think about a plan to escape from the community Jonas does escape taking Grabriel with him and when Jonas got to the top the saw a sled and in the revelation him and Grabriel raced down the hill to where Jonas hopes where the people are waiting for him with love and warmth Jonas is a bright and inquisitive how's cereous about what he observes taring with the Giver Jonas becomes aware of everything in the community has sacrificed in order to avoid pain and to achieve a tranquil efficient way of life they’ve relinquished all memories to the care of the receiver Because memories can cause suffering Jonas becomes increasingly frustrated with his community and energy The giver is the most important elder of the community the receiver of memory a position responsible for storing the collective memories and a history of the world going back generations and for advising the council of elders when important decisions have to be made that are beyond their experience this burden of keeping memories has had made the giver somewhat bitter and resentful of his role feelings that grows nearly unbearable after his daughter rosemary chosen at one point to be next receiver of memory killed himself through Jonas the Giver finally sees a way to force the community to take back its memories and regain both its freedom and it's individuality at the beginning of the story father is portrayed as a kind man and a source of affection and father gravitated toward the job of nurturer when he was a youngster himself but toward the end of the novel Jonas realizes that father has no real capacity for love his complete lack of emotion and his ability to kill the innocent show how the strict control by the government can turn even an essentially gentle man into someone who can behave as if cutter lee lacking in humanity
