@@jdewit8148 The point that the ideal of the spirit "inside and upon" makes is, our past view of God was influenced by our own lack of spiritual evolution. That we once viewed God by having instinct imposed "upon" our will and guiding us. Now we we have replaced that instinct "upon" with a code of empathy "within" and the "law of liberty". Rather, empathy and charity are written upon our hearts and not merely imposed by the pages of an imperfect code. Is that not really the way it is? And did we once not once crawl up as wild animals and become civilized? Yet, some are still boastful and remember not from whence we come. When one sees that there is only consciousness and that all things are but an appearance in that then peace and love pervade our being. There is nothing apart from that. I think that the Gnostics had a better idea of this than the Orthodoxy. Grace has lead me on my path. There is no doubt about that.

Except that the 3rd century neoplatonist, Plotinus complained about the Gnostics in his work entitled "Against the Gnostics." He said that the Gnostics twisted and warped Plato's teaching on the Demiurge. Plotinus wouldn't have accepted the Gnostics even as the Christian episcopate considered the heretics as apostates and liars.

Bart Ehrman is a new testament scholar, does that make him a Christian ?. No he is an agnostic/atheist. Just because *you claim* to knowing something, doesn't prove anything. Get it, or not. Only the eastern group of Valentinians believed what Elaine represents, because they dwelled amongst the powerful Catholics in Rome. Western schools of Valentinianism viewed that Yahweh was in fact the Demiurge who was not to be worshipped as God. Dr Justin Sledge has a podcast explaining this. And not to forget about the Sethians, Basilidians, big groups who also maintained the Demiurge view of Yahweh.

I believe that Marcion was the first Christian who compiled the earliest volume of scripture that included one gospel similar to Luke's without the birth narrative and Paul's authentic letters. Who modern scholars of today agree with. Marcion stated that Yahweh as described in the old testament could not be Christ's father, for he did the exact opposite. Gnostics took this a step further suggesting that he was the Demiurge. I'll include a scripture from Deuteronomy found amongst the dead sea scrolls which supports Marcion's theory. 4Q Deuteronomy dead sea scrolls Deuteronomy 32:8-9 When Elyon gave the nation's as an inheritance, when He separated the Sons of Man. In many instances, cult members deeply identify with and admire their leader. Cult leaders often require degrees of conformity among members. For example, they might require all members to wear matching white jumpsuits and shave their heads. Fostering feelings of belonging is a central tactic cult leaders employ. Now, is it possible that the historical Jesus was different than what we typically associate as "cult leader" behaviors? Yes, it is possible, however I find it highly unlikely. You are free to feel positively about the historical Jesus, just as I am free to have my opinion that Jesus was no different than other cult leaders. @@seanhammer6296 I can certainly understand how a man can say, "I do not believe in God," or "I do believe in God," but I do not understand how a man can say with absolute certainty that "God does not exist." How did you come by such absolute certainty?

Good comment. We now have the greatest evidence for the existence of a Creator since our species began.....and science has uncovered it. We have observable evidence for only one universe. We have observable evidence for the Physical Constants. The universe is fine-tuned for Life, but that fine-tuning precludes any physical interference, so that does away with the idea of a Religious God. The universe is in the Mind of God, nothing exists outside of the Mind.

Yup that's why it says God knows your thoughts, but what about someone like me who has had much experience with Satan and am able to perceive that thing coming from other people? Is it Satan 🧐 duhh.
