Arith, this may sound odd, but I want to thank you for consistently releasing content that sometimes challenges what I thought I knew or opens my mind to things I had been wholly unaware of. Your videos also help me navigate my bad times by sometimes reminding me that I'm a part of something larger. Thanks for that, and please keep up the outstanding work you do.

Hey Arith, don't feel like you have to be apologetic in mentioning the importance your relationship has had to you! I think it's wonderful when anyone on earth is a romantic person, and I am glad the relationship has been important to you even if it didn't ultimately work out. I hope for minimal hurt for you moving forward, and that you may find love again should you look for it. Sending my well-wishes your way ❤

A wonderful, thoughtful, and informative video as always. On days where I feel like I am being drawn too much into the "woo woo" of paganism, you're videos always seem to help anchor me back to the more animistic leanings I feel to be more "true" in my spiritual experiences. It's very easy for us who enjoy the myths and sagas to latch on to the stories and try to turn them into a sort of bible. It's also easy for us fill in the blanks with whatever we can come up with due to the lack of historic evidence. I find UPG to be a powerful tool in helping us understand our place and how we can interact with deities and Other Persons. However, it should not be confused with religion or dogma. The unfortunate lack of historic evidence pertaining to the goddesses do not make them any less important in our spiritual journeys should we feel their pull. As for your heartbreak, thank you for being brave enough to share it at least little bit with us. While the vast majority of us have never and probably will never meet you in person, your videos over the years inspire a connection. The content which you provide is balanced in historic research yet remains respectful to our individual spiritual journeys. When you refer to us as "my dear friends", we feel it. When you lay your own stressors and hardships in life out there for us to witness, we feel that as well. Take care of yourself, and thank you for all that you do.

Wonderful presentation making some crucial distinctions about myth// ritual// religion// ''the sacred'', and oral-litrarty tradition. Without that kind of analytic work too much tends to get bundled together and retro-fitted.... in UK pagan studies much mischief was done by the White Goddess of Robert Graves, which is wonderfully poetic and imaginative - and also historically irresponsible. Perhaps one of the big problems in Northern European ''Goddess studies'' is the fact that the richest texts emerged after Christianity infiltrated the traditions. So although there are tantalising hints of pre-Christian notions of female divinity in the Vitnisisur af Mariu and the Draupa af Amriugrat etc, it is heavily inflected by the emergent ''Cult of the Virgin'' . One thing I can think of which seems relevant is the role of women in Lamentation... in the semi-Christianised rural parts of Ireland and Karelian Finnland it was exclusively women who sang the chants for the dead.. right up until the early 20th century.

The White Goddess is one of the books that can be seen when I do some videos in the background with books, hehe, but indeed, it is beautiful but it is as you said. I could go on concerning much of what you said here, but it would just be confirmation to what you have stated and, sadly, these past few weeks I haven't felt the strength to have much interaction with anything, if you take my meaning. My relationship with the gods is what it is, but it's always useful to learn, because I believe that back then are the roots of a truer belief. About your heart...life is as hard as it is wonderful. From this side of the screen, you look like a great lad with a lot of culture (and too little time to recover from all your jobs). Your heart will bleed for a while, sure, but it'll keep beating steadily. Whatever will be, will be. Wish you the best 💚 (and, since I came out of something similar, my suggestion is to cuddle your cats as much as you can, and use their therapeutic purrs to help the healing process).

One of my great-great-grandmothers has always seemed to call to me. My grandmother had a very complete ancestral gallery at her home, from painted portaits and shadow outlines to photos. Thea was but one of them. She was hung in the outer foyer along with her husband's portrait, because those two were too big for the other rooms. (Outer vs inner foyer, simply because the house had once been a duplex, the outer had been the common entry). The trouble I've had with Thea, is that she was a woman married into the family, and the mother of another woman married into the family. Hence, no one has ever looked into her as a person. Only the male line was important. However, a few things we have always done, were said to have come from her! Such as making a hole in the eggshells before discarding them so that the sea witches wouldn't play with them making them sink, and at the same time cause a ship to go down! Where did she get that from? How old is that tradition? Was she what we now call a hereditary witch? What else did she do or know? Did she teach her daughter other things, which were lost because there were no more female descendants until .. me? But by then, my great-grandmother was long gone, and all I had was her looks (as a teen, her spitting image!) and a feeling of Thea's portrait calling to me.

Its better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, no matter how painful that may be at the moment. If a relationship is not meant to last then its our choice to either cherish what was good and go on or keep looking back. You will choose what is best for you😊 I do wish we had more archeological evidences of how and which gods and goddesses were worshipped but I keep the hope alive that we still have much to discover about whats hidden from the past. I like the idea of being part of maybe new pagan traditions that might be carried on after us. After all, we live in this now and then. Thank you Arith😊

When i decided to "Return" to the faith of my ancestors, i chose to concentrate on the Vanirs with Freya as my "Patrona Deity". I know that very little is known about her cult, so i have to borrow from what is known form other forms of worship in related Indoeuropean Pantheons. Like how my hold my hands when performing my humble blots. From what i think i know about Hellenistic rituals, hands outstretched in invocations, palms up if its a male Deity, palms down, if its a female Deity. Not knowing exactly, or rather much at all, of how our ancestors did it, can't be allowed to stop me from trying to establish contact and friendship with the Divine Lady. Funny that i didn't think of that i spent my childhood growing up in Västra Frölunda (Western Grove of Freya), south of present day Gothenburg. Oh, and being nice to cats comes natural to me.

Awsome sharing , thank you lots of effort ive watched you for a long time i enjoy your work..in my experience, im a vitki and i fareforth (sharmanism/astral projection) when i astral work in vanaheim, (leave my body, journey using runes and many other techniques) i have met many beings, and seen the world, the fields of plenty, the sacred world mill stone, their bores. there are many beings living in Vanaheim, i saw many, but really, i spent time with Freyr, Freya, Nerthus, Njord, i saw two of Freyas 8 sisters (ive met another one of her sister Eir who is one of Friggas handmaidens in Fensalir Asgard) I dont take anything from mythology, i go into the dreaming of where the ancestors wrote their stories from, by actually meeting the gods and spirits and ancestors like all ancient cultures did and most still do. What im saying is practiced by many people, but a tiny percentage of people working with Yggdrasil actually meet any beings and kinda worship a structural knowledge ststem where they try to make models and their ideas fit into neat boxes. i like the idea of the god/spirits in relation to the elements and aspect of our physical and mental reality. because that is 100% true in my sharman work, the way to meet the spirits is to dream through and surrender yourself through the alchemical process of putting the mind aside to fare forth. your great to listen to, i enjoy the unbiased space, you disclaimer any space a person listening could journey down on their tangent so your conceptions of human psychology is very thorough . well done

Us Leos are definitely super romantic 😅 I love how mythology and storytelling used to be a way to communicate a society's values, which we can use to extrapolate from (imho). I approach my faith from that lens: just like the deities and spirits changed over time between the Iron Age and Viking Age, so too would they have changed between then and now. I like to think about how. Who would they be now? How would they feel about the world we live in?

I see Mythology as Celestial Metaphor for the Religion of Astrotheology, which probably the first Religion. The Moon being one of the Gods, how many women noticed their cycle, cycled with the Moon, would they be think the Moon had something to do with their monthly cycle.
@MrBlazingup420
@MrBlazingup420 Год назад
The moon and Sun repeats their cycle every 33 years. How old was the Messiah when he died on the cross? Could this be tied to a Pagan holiday, Lupercalia maybe. No one knows the exact origin of Lupercalia, but it has been traced back as far as the 6th century B.C. According to Roman legend, the ancient King Amulius ordered Romulus and Remus-his twin nephews and founders of Rome-to be thrown into the Tiber River to drown in retribution for their mother's broken vow of celibacy. The festival Lupercalia, which began at noon on February 13 and culminated on February 21, was essentially a private celebration of the rites of deceased family members. From Feb. 13 to 15, the Romans celebrated the feast of Lupercalia. The men sacrificed a goat and a dog, then whipped women with the hides of the animals they had just slain. The Roman romantics "were drunk. The earliest possible origin story of Valentine's Day is the pagan holiday Lupercalia. The story was that men and women also drew lots during Lupercalia in order to practice more intimate fertility rites. The church supposedly tried to upend this pagan custom by forcing men and women to draw the names of saints to worship instead and this, centuries later, evolved into drawing lots on St. Valentine's Day. The Lupercalia had its own priesthood, the Luperci ("brothers of the wolf"), whose institution and rites were attributed to Romulus and Remus. Before I'm done, you'll know why goats and dogs were chosen. Etruscan Wolf Gods Aplu - Suri - Aita - Calu, in Etruscan religion, Aplu (=Apollo), Suri (=Soranus) and Aita (=Hades) all had the wolf as attribute. Apulu (Etruscan: 𐌖𐌋𐌖𐌐𐌀), also syncopated as Aplu (Etruscan: 𐌖𐌋𐌐𐌀), is an epithet of the Etruscan fire god Śuri as chthonic sky god, roughly equivalent to the Greco-Roman god Apollo. Their names are associated on Pyrgi inscriptions too. The name Apulu or Aplu did not come directly from Greece but via a Latin center, probably Palestrina. Under the name Apulu, he is known as god of the Sun and light, thunder and lightning, healing and plague, as well as the protector of divination, but he also has volcanic and infernal characteristics. He was also known as Rath, Usil and Vetis, among other names. The theonym Śuri (Etruscan: 𐌉𐌛𐌖𐌑, romanized: Śuri, from Etruscan: 𐌛𐌖𐌑, romanized: Śur, lit. 'black'), cognate to Surtr (Old Norse: Surtr, lit. 'black') and latinized as Soranus, means both 'black' and 'from the black [place]', i.e. the Underworld. Primarily the god of volcanoes and fire, which were associated with the underworld, Śuri also was the chthonic god of the Sun and light, as well as an oracular god, with powers over health and plague; as god of volcanic lightning, he's thought to have been among the Novensiles, the nine Etruscan thunder gods. His sacred animals were wolves and goats. Aita (Etruscan: 𐌀𐌕𐌉𐌀), also spelled Eita (Etruscan: 𐌀𐌕𐌉𐌄), is an epithet of the Etruscan chthonic fire god Śuri as god of the underworld, roughly equivalent to the Greek god Hades (Epic Greek: Ἄϊδης, romanized: Áïdēs). Aita is pictured in only a few instances in Etruscan tomb painting, such as in the Golini Tomb from Orvieto and the tomb of Orcus II from Tarquinia. In these tomb paintings, he is shown with his consort Persipnei (Etruscan: 𐌉𐌄𐌍𐌐𐌉𐌔𐌛𐌄𐌐), also spelled Phersipnai (Etruscan: 𐌉𐌀𐌍𐌐𐌉𐌔𐌛𐌄𐌘), the Etruscan equivalent to the Greek Persephone. Calu (Etruscan: 𐌖𐌋𐌀𐌂, romanized: Calu, lit. 'dark, darkness') is an epithet of the Etruscan chthonic fire god Śuri as god of the underworld, roughly equivalent to the Greek god Hades (Epic Greek: Ἄϊδης, romanized: Áïdēs; Etruscan: 𐌀𐌕𐌉𐌀, romanized: Aita); moreover, as with Hades, this god-name was also used as a synonym for the underworld itself. He is identified by his wolf attributes, such as a wolf-like appearance or a human with a wolf-skin cap. The visual representations of the cult of Calu seem to contain common elements with the Roman cult of Lupercalia and the Faliscan cult of the Hirpi Sorani ("wolves of Soranus", from Sabine: hirpus, lit. 'wolf'). The first of the two festivals to Faunus happens on the 13th of February, with the second once taking place on December 5th. February 21st to December 5th is 9 months 15 days. Lupercal was a pastoral festival of Ancient Rome observed annually on February 15 to purify the city, promoting health and fertility. Lupercalia was also known as dies Februatus, after the purification instruments called februa, the basis for the month named Februarius. Once Purified, you wait on the Moon, should be 15 days away, the Purim Festival. Purim is the most raucous holiday on the Jewish calendar (see mandatory alcohol drinking below) and occurs on the 14 day of the month of Adar. Observance of the holiday begins with dressing up in costume: some people choose to dress as characters from the Purim story, and others dress in non-Purim-related costumes. Purim is called hamantashen. It is dough folded into the shape of a triangle and filled with pomegranate jelly and poppy seed. The triangle is the shape of the womb, pomegranate is red, poppy seeds (Papa Seeds), are tiny and many. 6,606 hours later is December 5th. At the end of the 3rd week, the heart of the fetus takes it's first beat, from December 5th, Christmas Day. December 5th, the Sun is in the center of Ophiuchus and Antares, above the pyramidal top of Ophiuchus is the She Goat star, the dog headed goddess Bau, the Urgula, we call it the Harp Star Vega, our pole star 12,000 years ago, and will be again in 12,000 years. Vega is seen as a bright star above the mountain peak or a cross on a mountain, the 3 pyramidal stars at the top, form the cross, it's planted in the heart of Scorpio, all 3 are high in the southern sky at midnight Christmas over there, noon here, on this side of the planet. Christmas is not the birth, just the first beat of the heart, birth would be 6,606 hours from December 5th, September 6th The Twins. One is Heavenly born, the other is Earthly born. The short version of half the story.

What's your opinion on the Oera Linda book? Robert Sepher has made a video entitled the Oera Linda book. A reaction video or a video on the matter or something would have been interesting. The importance of the goddess in initiations is also an interesting aspect with parallels to the role of the midwife in real life. I'm referring to the spiritual death and the corresponding spiritual rebirth. Also the role of Freya as the earth godess in the Oera Linda book and the meaning of the name Jormungandr (Jor: Earth, mund: gift, Gandr: sorcery, wizard staff)

A question, the concept of Gods Goddesses, what is the benchmark of where that describes them, ie dealing with the Elves, they are shiny and live 700 years but live through time completely differently to us. Many pp go into the trance practices, meet the elves assume they are gods cause the shininess, or assume they are angels because of Christianity. i see it all the time watching people here take many hallucinogens (i practice sober) much assumption over what they experience. so many cultural lenses. The goddesses are very important.

The comical level of charlatanery in the ads that RU-vid runs before your videos is a real contrast to your excellent work.

This is weird but is there any link between frogs and Odin? I was using a bird identifying app, that « heard » a raven at a time when I had asked Thor to help me. It was in fact a croaking frog but it felt like an answer and the thing I’d asked for help with, came good.

The woman of the west, of wisdom and the Triangle is also recorded in Chinese mythology. In fact there are poems about delegates sending emissaries to her. The Taoist (Daoist) pantheon of gods includes her. Xiwangmu.

Where in the Hervarar saga ok Heiðreks and the ynglinga saga can I read about the cult of the disir and the disablot? I did look through these sources, but I find nothing. So please help me specify, I am curious. I did find the part where Odin asks riddles to a king and the king answers them correctly, that was an interesting part, but not what I was looking for, and I also get frustrated with how much gets lost in translation and just translates as nonsense...Anyway, please specify the sources for the cult of the disir for me thank you anyone who can.

i love the idea of ownership of what we do, - and it's okay to hold something in reverence that resonates personally. Why do we have to insist that' s it 's 'real' becuase . . . . personally - i name the trees in my area that feel good to me; that have heard my words and tears that no one else does. Because i've been around alot of death . . . i have often pondered the Disir, had dreams of people dancing in the mounds that i visit in my waking life. It just occurred to me that my grandmother was a spinner and weaver, sadly i never met her; thought i was told i was crazy like her. i'd like to say that's funny but it isn't becuase of how she was removed from the world

How are you doing Arith? I enjoy watching you videos on archeological findings and past cultural societies. I'm of European descendants. I have a question that you might have answered before that I missed. I'm advocate of the Ancient Alien Theory that some of the writings about the past was Extraterrestrial interventions or actually jump started life on this planet. That the mythology and concepts of God/ Gods came from those encounters. You being an archeologists, I was wondering what you thoughts are on the Ancient Alien Theory. If you think it is just another ridiculous concept and has no merit. If you do not want to give an answer that's fine. Thanks for the work and videos you do.

The purpose of spirituality is to find the divine within yourself and recognize it in others. As such, every writing, every story, every poem, every song is divine. Inspiration to create is about as divine as it gets. It's when people worship these arts that trouble starts, just look at the Bible, Koran, Torah. Zealots worshiping any religious text and idolizing prophets are ironically worshiping the creation, rather than Creator. Those who connect directly to Creator are not lead by others, they find the way within. Just my humble opinion. As for ancestor worship, Crusaders and Colonist got it wrong. (Was it simply used to justify their own actions of genocide?) Indigenous don't worship ancestors, they commune with them. (Think quantum entanglement.)

Talkative and beyond real knowledge. Key-word- island names in Scandinavia. Second, he doesn’t consider kennings. Freya was a Vanir, twin sister of Frøy (some even consider Frøy/Freya as the same, other mentions them as married twins reflecting other ways of living in Scandinavia before the Goths intervened with Odin and Perkunas-Tor) The twin motive is ancient and derives from as far we can see back in time. A feature of the indoeuroeans. Freya was the one with a host of appearances through her semi-deities, volves and diser. So catch up the names of theese and you’ll find the landsscape engulfed with hints to Freya. Like earl Haakon who went to the Island Primsigd (Brisingr, her necklace) and made sacrifices to Torgjerd Haalogabrud , yeah that’s Freyas dise, all right. Freya was truly important. Even today Freyas appearance beacons close to the farmhouse as an elder tree.

isnt Loki= Lugh of the Dagda, he was also halfblooded, had tricked his enemy into death and are related to mistletoes. Lugh was known to travel and bring presents. Loki tricks Baldr, Lugh tricks Balor.. they are one and the same i am sure. Scandinavians did not put him as a central figure because he was an outsider and the stories changed through time
@shineallthetimewithnatalie333
This is so inaccurate and much is left out. Interesting. What are your thoughts on the ancient Akashic records? The Romans and Religion wiped out the records. But they have been passed through ancient civilizations and knowledge. We know this as it’s proven that through hieroglyphics ect. Freja is present . The rise of the divine. Thanks for your work. You have really put HIStory into place. It’s time to tell HERstory. #goddess
