I was in Australia, where fires can easily get out of control in summer, since forever. I learned that aboriginals used to burn forest and huge part of land themselves, kinda under there control To fertilise the land and avoid unwanted fire that burn down everything everywhere I was I Sydney in 2019, the city was covered by a deep frog coming from a massive fire a little 500km away. The sun was just a huge orange ball you could look at without burning your eyes, and forget about keeping the window open, everything smelled like barbecue, it felt so unreal, yet villages where evacuated, houses burned to the ground and the wild life decimated. I remember this ads on socials, showing this poor Koala half burned with almost no hair left, trying to escape fire, crunching on the ground. First time I did unpaid work to try to help as I could in animal shelters.

@broflo8859 it's a damn sad truth that makes me question the motives of inaction to help stop fires before they happen. Damn truth no one talks about is humans have little impact on wildfires other than not keeping forest clean/manicured. What impact they have the largest on is ocean acidification. All the reefs being destroyed by PH level changes in the ocean from dumping.

While they are naturally occurring they don't naturally occur with the frequency and size they currently do. Its a bit like climate change - it happens naturally, but we're making it worse. Same thing with death - its natural, but we make it happen more quickly. Etc etc.

@andromidius you're right, if we would allow the natural cycle of forest fires to occur, the underbrush wouldn't build up to the point it has creating a large wildfire that quickly grows out of control.
