Why are they called gasser, and why do they look so different than other drag race classes? Or do you just like all the pretty, loud cars? (Yep, I question your manhood if you don't know what you're posting. )
Gassers are and were run on Gas as opposed to Methanol or other Race Gas. Their look comes from the fact they are trying to get as much weight on the rear axle as possible to prevent wheel slip. Though trial and error they figured out the toque, horsepower, acceleration and inertia was going to lift the front end up so why waste the power doing that and just make the car like that already. Some of them changed the wheel base too. Moving the rear axle forward, dang near to center putting 100% of the cars weight only on the two rear tires.
