I immediately went back to watch some golden girls after hearing about her. Through my childhood this was one of the shows that genuinely made me laugh, and still does ❤
I was just watching the show this morning (Australian time) and found out. It’s not a big coincidence because I watch it almost every day anyway lol, but still… Just devastated. RIP Betty
RIP Betty White. Now she is reunited with those three women whom she waited for so long to join☺️...Thank you for entertaining me as a kid back then. Love from Malaysia❤️
I agree with that! I think they all got somewhat lost in their characters but I get the hunch that Bea found it easy to play Dorothy.. Betty is superb as Rose because she is nothing like her in real life.
They are not alive some place else: Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 King James Version 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Same thing happens to every one no matter what when they die: Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 King James Version 19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. Ecclesiastes 9:2 King James Version 2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
I wish she had lasted at least a few weeks longer. Her 100th birthday would have been a hoot. I'm glad that at least, she apparently passed away peacefully.
It has long been forgotten, but she was a patriot too. As a beautiful young woman, she put her promising career on hold and joined the American Women's Voluntary Service (AWVS). In between shows to entertain the troops, sh helped deliver vital military cargoes all over the country. She was a modest woman, and never flaunted her service. Her "Golden Girls" costar Bea Arthur was also a patriot and served in the US Marine Corps during WW2.
It doesn't (or does for the character) help that Bea Arthur and Betty used to fight on set, because of their acting methods clashing. Bea was raised in classical acting training, and Betty got her start on a game show. I hope they're laughing together now... RIP...
As heartbreaking as it is, we will always have their shows to make us smile and laugh again, even if only for a while. We should all be so lucky to be so well remembered and missed.
Absolutely, Ferrante1816, the best show ever! I was 27 in 1985 when the first season started, but like a stupid idiot, at the time I thought it was a show about women for women, and I wouldn't be interested and would be bored watching it... BOY, WAS I WRONG, I WAS SOOO WRONG!!! It is a high-quality show with superb acting, especially from Bea Arthur and Rue McCLanahan. I have the whole DVD set.
Being born in the 80's was not really fun tbh. Compared to now it was really bland -- no cable, no internet, no cell phones, no real video games. We can enjoy whatever you enjoyed in the 80s immediately. You'd wait for these golden girls episodes. I can watch the entire series in one month/week if I wanted. Logically my era trumps yours.
Rest in peace Betty white you lived a long life you bring such joy and humour to millions of people. You will be terribly missed but fondly remembered thank you
R.I.P. Betty White ~ What a shock that she passed away today (12/31/2021) at the age of 99. Only weeks from celebrating her 100th birthday! She was our National Treasure. She blessed us all with her quick humor and her rememberable characters. May she make all the angels and God laugh thunderously and smile brightly in Heaven.
This one is missing my ALL TIME favourite Rose moment. Rose: *pretending to interview Dorothy, Sophia in other chair* "Isn't it a fact that you have a drawer full of retirement home brochures and you're just waiting for the first sign of dribble on your mother's chin, to lock her away forever?" 😂😂😂
I love how (just before the faux TV interview) Rose says, "This is a pretend microphone. It's really just a hairbrush." And Dorothy looks at her like, "No shit!" XD
A Shapiro in St. Olaf? Oh, come now! There actually is a St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. I find that a disturbing thought. Do they have a Herring Studies major? Do they have a graduate school for village idiots? The possibilities are endless and terrifying.
But nothing beats the story of "The Herring Wars." Although the action took place in Norway and not St. Olaf, it was told to Rose by her grandfather in her hometown. It set the tone for all her future stories.
Rest in peace Betty. So sad to hear the news yesterday. Although a fantastic age, would love Betty to have reached 100. Will have the great Roseisms forever more. ♥.
Loved The Golden Girls, amazing sitcom you can still enjoy today. RIP Betty the world is sadder today but heaven must be a happy place with you and your other housemates together, personally I thought you'd live forever. ❤❤❤
Just read she has passed away :( This video was linked to it, I'm way too young to ever have seen Golden Girls, but plenty of other things she's done got me in stitches so often. RIP.
@@sheldonhodder2318 That is not entirely true.....None of the scripts were written for any of them besides the "Dorothy Zbornak" role which had a clear description as a "Bea Arthur Type" even so they audition multiple other actresses. When Rue , was sent the script for the entire show by her agent to audition she fell in love with the Blanche role...which at that stage the producers of the show had shortlisted Betty White after her audition for that role.. As Rue described in her biography she got there and read the Rose part but the producers made them swap scripts ...with Betty and she ended up playing Rose and not Blanche..
Who else has been on a “Golden Girls” clip watching spree the last couple of days? There will never be another like Betty. She truly was iconic in everything she did.❤️
RIP Betty white.. Go into heaven knowing that you left a hole in everyone's heart yet it's full of love. Love that you put the there thru out with your witty remarks in and out of character, and your love for life and animals. Thank you for all the years of entertainment. We will miss you...
Thank you for being a friend Rose. Heaven gained another angel today RIP. One of the GOAT. A truly living legend. Now all of the Golden girls are finally together again and what a hell of a show that must be!
